Dragons are existences that have attained great fame in the world, becoming creatures of legend and great renown due to their power. And Dragonewts are beings who have almost the same amount of renown, but not for their power or knowledge, but due to their rarity in comparison to the heaven defying beasts.
Dragonewts have the appearance of a fusion between a human and dragonic being, and are also quite powerful as well. There are two ways for a Dragonewt to exist in the world. One was for a human or another species to use a ritual to have the properties of the dragon, thereby increasing their power as well. However, the ritual itself is not guaranteed to succeed and the chance of the one it was used on dying from it is very high, and the deaths are painful, so this limits the number of people who actually come out of the other side.
The other was for a dragon to mate with another humanoid species, which is something that is seen as taboo by the believers of the Gods. But a child from a dragon is the only way for a Dragonewt to be naturally born, and there might be a chance for the descendants of that child to have the power, but whether they have the same as their forerunner is not something that is known about.
Whatever the case might be, while the dragons are known for their terrifying might and dominating power and rebellion against the Divine, the Dragonewts are known due to them being very rare in existence, the very fact that they exist is a matter of great deal to the people of the world.
And now a Dragonewt is floating down from the crystal in the chamber after the completion of a dragon trial. And as the Dragonewt floated down, they were able to see it more clearly and can see that it's female as they blinked and watched as it reached the ground and then laid on the floor.
"A Dragonewt was inside the crystal." Armaros said in surprise as this wasn't what he had expected.
Sure, he knew that Dragonewts can be born, but the fact that a dragon had made an entire trial for this was absurb. Of course, his mind then went to the fact that it might not have been a dragon that had created this, but rather the other parent of the Dragonewt who modelled the chamber and trial to make others think it was made by a dragon.
But he dismissed those ideas, as they served no purpose for him right now, and focused on the Dragonewt girl in front of him and Fanah. He glanced at his slave, and saw the conflict in her eyes. The existence of the Dragonewts were considered taboos by religious groups due to their power coming from dragons, the enemies of the Gods, so her reaction is understandable, however he was not about to let her do anything.
'That being said, what is she thinking of doing now?' Armaros thought to himself as he looked at her.
Fanah meanwhile was focused on the Dragonewt. As a former member of a Church, and a believer of her God Khaheli, she detested dragons for sullying the divine, especially due to the beasts disdain for the Gods. And the existence of Dragonewts are considered abominations by believers like her, as it confirms a union between humans and their sworn enemies.
She gripped the handle of her sword, but she didn't pull it out. As she knew that her master wouldn't allow it. While it has only been a short while since she had become his slave, she knew that her master would not allow her to kill the damn thing in front of her.
And so she stayed her hand and just watched, as she can feel his gaze on her. She made no moves to attack the girl and he nodded soon after.
"I know that you want to kill her very much Fanah. However, you are forbidden from doing that, even if your beliefs dictate that you do." Armaros said to her as he walked towards the unconscious girl.
"Yes master." Fanah said to him with an even tone.
'He also gave me an order to make sure that I won't try anything as well. Can't expect anything less from him.' Fanah thought to herself as she did some breathing techniques to calm herself down.
Armaros reached the Dragonewt and looked at her, and then his eyes glowed as he used his magic to see her mana. And he was very surprised when he saw that she has abundant amounts of it, more than his own as well.
'That's a lot of mana. Does she have as much mana as mother?' Armaros thought to himself as he was briefly reminded of the matriarch.
He frowned at that realisation. While his own mana is considerable in quantity, the matriarch had much more Mana than him and this Dragonewt reminded him of her for a second, which made him worry as he might not be able to subdue her if she became a danger, not without using the divine weapon and perhaps drawing attention if a battle ensues and escalates.
Therefore, he hoped that recently becoming free from her sealing would make her sluggish and not at her full capacity so that he would be able to subdue her if necessary. He took his sheathed sword and used the tip to touch the girls shoulder so that he can wake her up, and he kept on doing it for a while.
After a minute of poking and prodding had passed, he was thinking of using another method to wake her up, and Fanah was thinking that perhaps she could kick the abomination awake instead of her master.
But then the girl started to stir as he took a step back so he can fully see her body, and soon after grumbling for a bit, the girl opened her eyes, revealing two emerald like orbs as her eyes widened. She immediately took in her surroundings, and then her eyes landed on the two adventurers in front of her.
The two groups stared at each other when their eyes met. That standoff only lasted for a short 5 seconds, and then the Dragonewt slammed into Fanah and launched her into the far end of the room as she slammed into the wall and cried out in surprise and pain.
'Shit! She's fast!' Armaros thought to himself in shock as he swung his right leg at her.
She wasn't able to block it due to attacking Fanah and so was hit with the attack and sent flying back, but she roared at him and expelled flames from her mouth as she was sent back as his eyes widened at the hot flames coming towards him.
He immediately grabbed his blade, strengthened himself with mana and slashed forward, sending a blade of wind and force at the fire. The slash managed to split the flames as it advanced forward and the girl stopped the attack and dodged to the side as the slash went past her.
'Is she using her full power, or is it just a decreased level?' Armaros thought to himself as he dashed towards her as he strapped his sword.
He didn't want to kill her, he wanted to subdue her and get information about how she had been sealed in the crystal and who was responsible for it as well. He knew that she would have some information, perhaps not helpful but at the very least it would be interesting, and so he wanted to subdue her quickly.
'I hope she is able to handle getting punched. My hands are rated E after all.' Armaros thought to himself with some humor as he charged her.
The girl growled and lunged at him, her arms wide and her semi dragonic hands with her claws gleaming as she wanted to beat him. But he suddenly increased the speed and got under her which surprised her, before he punched her on her stomach as she gasped.
Then he kicked her on her jaw, sending her up, before he grabbed her tail and slammed her on the ground. She rebounded up from it and snarled as she wanted to slash the human up, only for him to shoulder slam with his right side causing her to gasp in shock as she had no expected an attack like that while she stumbled back.
Only for his left foot to step on her right knee, and he knees her on her jaw again as she gasped from the unorthodox attacks. Then he kicked her while in the air, sending her falling face first onto the floor as she cried out in pain. He grabbed her right leg and picked her up with him, and even though she flailed, he slammed her on the ground again as she cried from that as it cracked, and then he slammed her again cracking the floor again before throwing her back towards the centre.
She called upon her mana to get more power as she opened her eyes, only to see him right above her as her eyes widened at seeing him so close and hovering right on top of her. And then he punched her left cheek and sent her flying to the ground as she cried out in pain and fell and rolled on the ground before she stopped and laid motionless on the ground as he landed on the ground and stopped.
'Okay, she has been stopped.' Armaros thought to himself at having subdued her.
He looked towards Fanah and saw her stumbling out of the wall in which she had been launched to. She had unfortunately been embedded into it due to the force with which she launched into it.
'Well, she made it easy for me to take her down. So that's a good thing.' Armaros thought to himself as he looked at the dragon girl as she groaned.
