Time passed quickly as Akira learned everything Mavis had to teach. In less than four hours, Akira mastered all three of Fairy Tail's super magics. And in just another two hours, he was easily changing all three magics and mixing them together to create even more super magic.
"Fairy Glitter," Akira said, making a gun shape with his hand. Magic gathered at his fingertip and shot straight toward a mountain. A bright flash of light followed, and a huge explosion blasted the mountain away.
" Hmm, good power. " Akira spoke as he blew the smoke coming out of his finger. Next to him, Mavis also nodded in agreement to his statement.
Akira then turned to look at Mavis, bowing deeply to show his gratitude.
"Thank you for teaching me, Master Mavis. I am truly grateful for everything," he said. Although he had to empty his whole month's sweet collection, but being able to learn all the super magic is totally worth it.
"Hehe, don't mention it!" Mavis said, giving a bright smile, clearly happy from all the praise.
Suddenly, the entire island began to shake as two massive forces of magic power clashed in the distance. Activating his sensor ability, Akira immediately locked onto the overwhelming pressure. He knew exactly where it was coming from—and that it belonged to Gildarts and Ur.
Seeing that the two of them were already fighting, Akira knew the S-class trial was reaching its climax. After thinking about it for a moment, a smirk played on his lips, and he decided to join in on the fun.
After all, he couldn't wait to see the looks on their faces when they realized he had already cleared the S-rank assessment.
"Umm, Master Mavis, it seems I need to go now," Akira said, looking at her with a smile as he prepared to say goodbye.
Just then, Mavis grabbed Akira's hand, an excited expression on her face. "Oh! Do you know those two who are fighting? Are they also part of the guild? Then why don't I come with you to see how much the guild has grown!"
Seeing this loli getting all excited for blood and chaos, Akira could only give a wry smile. He now finally understood where the guild got its tradition of being a bunch of battle junkies. With the first master setting that kind of example right from the start, how could the rest of the guild turn out any different?
'Oh well, like they say, when in Rome, do as the Romans do,' Akira thought as he agreed to bring her along. As a true Fairy Tail member, he also likes to make things much more chaotic.
…..
The island began to tremble violently as two brilliant beams of white light clashed continuously in the air, sending shockwaves through the sky.
Gildarts and Ur were pushing each other to the absolute limit. Every time Gildarts swung his fist, the surrounding air cracked like glass, his Crash magic threatening to shatter everything in its path.
"Let's see you block this, Ur!" Gildarts roared, leaping into the air. He pulled his fist back as white, destructive magic wrapped around his knuckles. "Crushing Evil, Spreading Truth: Empyrean!" He punched downward, sending a massive, concentrated blast of Crash magic tearing through the sky.
But Ur was completely unfazed. Standing her ground, she crossed her arms, her eyes sharp as she molded the ice with incredible speed. "Ice-Make: Shield!" A gigantic, intricate flower made of ice bloomed in front of her. The moment Gildarts' attack hit, the shield absorbed the impact, cracking loudly but holding strong before Ur shattered the remnants herself.
"My turn!" Ur shot back. She slammed both hands onto the ground, her magic circle glowing a brilliant light blue. "Ice-Make: Seven Slice Dance!" Instantly, seven massive blades of ice shot out from the frozen earth, spinning at high speeds and rushing toward Gildarts from all sides to shred him apart.
Gildarts' wild grin only split wider. He planted his feet and thrust his palms forward, letting out a burst of raw power. "All Crush!" The shockwave blasted outward, reducing the spinning ice blades to harmless snow before they could even touch his coat. "Not bad, Ur! But how about we take this up a notch?!" He began charging a massive sphere of white magic in his hand, the air screaming under the pressure.
"Bring it on!" Ur challenged, her own magic flaring to its peak as she molded a giant archery bow out of ice.
The two forces were just about to collide in a blinding flash that threatened to tear the landscape apart.
Schwing!
Out of nowhere, a sharp, ringing sound cut through the roaring magic.
Before either of them could unleash their ultimate strikes, a single, massive arc of silver light tore through the battlefield. The sheer force of the sword slash didn't just cut through the air—it sliced right between Gildarts' magic and Ur's ice, shattering both high-tier spells into harmless, glittering dust in an instant.
The dust settled, revealing Akira standing casually right in the middle of the crater, a cool smirk on his face as he rested his sword on his shoulder.
"Alright, you two, that's enough," Akira said smoothly, looking between the completely stunned combatants. "The S-class assessment is already over."
Silence descended on the crater as both Ur and Gildarts stared at Akira like they were looking at some kind of rare beast.
Ultimately, it was Gildarts who broke the awkward atmosphere. "Akira, last I heard, I was supposed to be the examiner for this S-class assessment. So unless you get my approval, you haven't finished anything."
Akira clicked his tongue, playfully wagging his finger back and forth. "Tsk, tsk, tsk. No, no, that's where you've got it all wrong, Gildarts. To finish the assessment, a candidate only needs to locate the grave of the First Master, Mavis. Fighting you was just a way to get the last clue to the coordinates, wasn't it?"
Hearing this well-reasoned logic, even Gildarts was stumped. He couldn't find a single word to argue back.
Technically, the objective of the S-class assessment was to find the grave of the First Master. However, if someone were to look blindly, it would take months to find any trace of it. As the final resting place of their founding master, the island was covered in countless barriers and magic traps. Logically, a candidate needed the clues provided by the examiners to pinpoint the location. To get those clues, you had to hunt down specific monsters and pass Gildarts' trial to collect all three pieces of the puzzle.
But Akira had ignored all of that. He skipped the monsters, bypassed the trial, and went straight for the finish line. He hadn't just played the game—he had completely flipped the table.
"Sigh, kid, you really know how to make me work overtime," Gildarts said with a bitter smile.
Normally, Gildarts wouldn't be this stressed; he was a pretty laid-back guy himself. But this was the S-class assessment. For the honor of the guild and the safety of the younger generation, he couldn't just brush it off.
The truth was, just like Laxus, both Makarov and Gildarts felt that Akira was still a bit too young to become an S-rank mage. Even though Akira clearly had the raw strength to qualify, he was still green when it came to handling the actual responsibilities of a quest. Plus, with Akira's terrible luck, any mission he took on was guaranteed to turn into something way more complicated and dangerous than a normal S-class job.
