Chapter 134 - CXXXV: All might counter

All Might analyzed the situation carefully, his eyes sharp behind the familiar grin. Breaking through the students' formation wouldn't be difficult for him — but the challenge wasn't about winning. His goal was to test them, to make the fight feel real, to push them far beyond their limits as if he were a true villain who couldn't be reasoned with.

Good, he thought. The first four reacted immediately. Especially the one with the barrier — he was the first to attack, predicting where I'd land before I even touched the ground. He moved all of his classmates aside to avoid the impact, giving them a better position and protecting them from debris. Smart judgment.

His eyes flicked between each student, reading their movements.

But… for the looks of it, that same boy depends too much on his Quirk. He's maintaining distance, keeping himself protected while constantly attacking. Strategic, yes… but predictable.

He turned his attention to the blond student phasing in and out of the ground.

And that one… the blonde kid knows exactly when to make contact. His control is excellent — otherwise, he'd pass straight through his own attacks. Ha ha ha ha!

All Might's laughter echoed through the ruined street. He'd seen enough. Time to move.

He raised his fist and slammed it into the ground.

The shockwave shattered glass across several buildings. The pavement split like paper as chunks of asphalt shot into the air. Dust billowed outward — and in the same instant, All Might disappeared from view.

He reappeared beside Mewtwo, using the chaos of flying debris as cover.

He launched a punch straight toward the boy's side — a heavy, precise strike meant to shatter the barrier in one blow. But just before contact, something flickered across Mewtwo's body — a thin film of refracted light, like a mirror catching the sun.

At that same instant, Mewtwo's left leg began to glow with a sharp, white light, swinging upward to meet the incoming punch.

When All Might's fist hit the barrier, it stopped. For a heartbeat, the impact didn't move. Then the shield cracked and shattered, harder than concrete, and his punch finally connected — just as Mewtwo's glowing leg struck back.

The collision sent a deep crack through the ground beneath them. A shockwave burst outward, scattering dust and rubble.

And then —

All Might felt an uppercut snap into his chin.

He blinked in surprise. Mirio had emerged from the ground beneath him, timing his strike perfectly to land just as Mewtwo's kick met All Might's fist.

From above, a massive hammer of seashell and tentacles came swinging down. All Might instinctively raised his other arm to block the blow — only for a spiraling beam of yellow energy to strike him square in the back a split second later.

Four perfectly synchronized attacks — all landing within the same second.

He skidded back a few meters, laughing in disbelief.

He had expected to surprise the "weak" one — the distant psychic boy — by attacking him up close. But instead, the boy had reacted instantly, countering with a coordination so precise that even All Might couldn't believe it.

Dust drifted through the air. The city around them groaned under the damage.

They countered… without even seeing me.

All Might wasn't angry — he was fascinated.

Even among pro heroes, this kind of coordination was rare. There were too many variables, too little time, no clear signal between them.

How did they pull that off?

He straightened slowly, brushing debris from his shoulder, a wide grin still on his face.

These kids… they were something else.

All Might smiled. His massive arms tensed, muscles swelling beneath his uniform as he spread them wide. Then, with a single sweeping motion, he unleashed a burst of wind so strong it flung everyone around him backward. Even Mewtwo, who managed to stop mid-air, was forced to retreat several meters.

When the dust settled, All Might stood alone at the center of the ruined street, his trademark grin shining through the haze.

That was the signal for the second assault—this time from the fourth-years.

From above, the student who could turn into a spiked ball dropped like a meteor toward him. To All Might, though, his descent looked slow. He sidestepped easily, watching as the ball hit the pavement and immediately changed direction, rolling back toward him with surprising speed.

Then his foot sank into something wet.

Mud.

In an instant, the ground came alive, twisting into thick whips that wrapped around his arms, legs, and torso. The other fourth-year had struck—using Doro's mud form to immobilize him while his partner attacked.

It was a solid plan, All Might admitted to himself. Simple but well-coordinated. Still, it wasn't nearly enough.

He crouched, tensing his legs, and jumped.

The street cracked under his feet as he soared upward, thirty meters into the air. From above, he could see the battlefield clearly. The four second-years regrouping. The two fourth-years waiting below. Six dots of color moving through smoke and debris.

Three…?

He blinked.

Something else was above him.

A blade made of pure energy sliced down from the sky.

All Might crossed his arms and braced himself. The blade struck his guard, and for the first time in a long while, he felt it—pressure. The attack didn't just cut through air; it bit into his uniform, and a thin line of red marked his skin beneath.

If that had been anyone else, he thought, it would have taken their head clean off.

"Shounen! That attack was dangerous!" he bellowed, half-scolding, half-amused.

But there was no answer.

Above him, a spiral of yellow light began to form—a vortex of roaring energy.

Nejire.

Her spiral energy beam twisted downward, wrapping itself around him. All Might raised one hand to block, but mid-air, without footing, he couldn't counter its force. The impact drove him down like a comet.

He landed hard, feet first, the shockwave rippling across the broken street. Nejire's energy still pushed against him, making his arm tingle.

Then two figures flashed in from either side. Their strikes came sharp and precise, hitting near his upper arms—close to the nerves at his biceps.

Paralysis points.

They were trying to immobilize him. Clever. Even with his immense power, All Might was still human.

He was about to counter when a new wave of mud surged over him, swallowing him a few meters deep. For a second, darkness and pressure enclosed him completely—then he flexed. The mud exploded outward in all directions.

As the debris cleared, something struck him square in the back. The spiked ball. The hit sent All Might crashing into the side of a building, tearing through concrete and glass.

From the rubble, a deep laugh rumbled.

"This generation… is good. All of them are good! HAHAHAHA!"

His voice echoed down the street like thunder.

And yet, the students didn't hesitate.

A flash of light appeared above him—Mewtwo again.

"Thunderbolt."

The bolt hit before he could react. Pain flashed through his nerves, electricity sparking across his arms.

"This shounen isn't holding back," he muttered through clenched teeth. "It's like he's really trying to kill me."

Before the energy faded, Mewtwo darted forward and slammed a thunder-charged punch into All Might's arm. The hit barely staggered him, but the strength behind it was real.

In response, All Might moved faster than a blink. His massive hand shot out, grabbing Mewtwo by the tail. He swung the boy down with a heavy arc, intending to smash him into the pavement—hard enough to test him, not to break him.

But the impact never came.

Just before hitting the ground, Mewtwo's body stopped mid-air, floating an inch above the cracked street. His telekinesis shimmered around him.

All Might's eyes widened slightly. "Oh?"

Then another jolt—electricity again.

He grunted, feeling the shock race up his arm, and before he could recover, two sharp hits struck behind his knees. His legs buckled for an instant—just long enough for Nejire's spiral energy to hit him head-on, blasting him backward.

He hit the ground, rolled once, and rose with a faint streak of blood running down his temple.

He touched it, stared at the red on his fingertips, and smiled.

"Two of them… actually hurt me," he murmured, half in admiration.

"Well," he said aloud, voice deep and booming again, "I've already tested their attack power and coordination."

His grin widened.

"Now it's time to test their defenses—and see how much they can really take!"

And with that, All Might vanished.

One moment he was there, the next, only a shockwave remained. The gale that followed swept through the streets, scattering dust and loose debris, as the Number One Hero moved faster than any of them could see.

All Might reappeared in front of Nejire, his fist already drawn back. The punch came fast — a blur of movement that would've shattered the ground if it landed — but just before impact, a barrier materialized between them, humming with psychic energy. At the same instant, Nejire was yanked sideways by an invisible force.

The punch missed by a hair.

Still spinning midair, Nejire twisted her body and lashed out with a glowing kick. Her leg, wreathed in spiraling yellow energy, struck All Might's arm head-on.

He barely felt the sting, but his smile widened.

"What incredible reaction time," he said, straightening to his full height.

He looked around at the six contenders — four second-years regrouping together, and the two fourth-years already spreading out to flank. The air buzzed with tension.

"I'll keep this rhythm," All Might declared, his voice booming through the ruined city. "Everyone gets a fair chance! The last ones standing… will claim the title!"

Even as he spoke, Nejire flew back beside her classmates for cover. Mewtwo hovered slightly ahead, the barrier forming again around them like a shimmering wall of glass. Tamaki and Mirio adjusted their positions, closing the formation.

Two teams, All Might thought. The group of four, and the senior duo. They might be fighting me, but they're still competing against each other.

He nodded to himself. "Good. Let's test the others."

With a sudden blast of air, he vanished again — a gust of pressure marking where he'd stood — and reappeared in front of the Dynamic Duo.

The first strike went toward the skinny one, Doro. The student slammed his hands to the ground, conjuring a massive wall of mud. It rose like a tidal wave, thick and heavy, while his partner — the spiked, rolling brute — launched himself forward to counterattack.

All Might didn't even slow down. One punch shattered the wall completely, sending chunks of mud flying in all directions. His other arm caught the spinning student mid-roll, stopping his momentum cold.

But before he could press the attack, something bright flickered in his peripheral vision — a rain of yellow stars.

"Ah, not again," he muttered, seeing Mewtwo's Swift tearing through the air.

He could've tanked it, but not with students nearby. So, instead, All Might grabbed both members of the Duo by the arms and hurled them clear out of the blast zone before dodging the attack himself.

The stars chased him, turning midair to follow his movement. He laughed under his breath, impressed despite himself. "Homing projectiles… persistent ones, too."

He countered the only way he knew how — by punching them. Each blow detonated a star, small explosions rippling around him like a storm of fireworks.

The Dynamic Duo used that moment to charge again. Doro slammed his hands on the ground, summoning an ocean of mud — a literal flood rising down the street. It surged forward in a brown wave, ready to bury everything in its path.

All Might pivoted on one foot and swung his leg in a wide arc. The kick created a shockwave so intense it blew the entire flood sideways. The street cleared instantly, the mud splattering across nearby buildings like wet paint.

The stunned expression on Doro's face said it all.

But that wasn't the only surprise. In the same motion, All Might's kick connected with the spiked student, Hagane, who had been charging beneath the mud. The blow sent him tumbling across the pavement and into a wall.

A faint groan followed — and then silence.

All Might exhaled slowly, watching the smoke clear. "One down."

He turned toward Doro, whose wide-eyed shock made him hesitate for only a second. In a real fight, that moment of hesitation could've cost him everything.

"A villain wouldn't wait," All Might said softly.

Then he struck.

Doro's mud lashed upward in reflex, trying to bind him, but All Might felt another force pushing back — Mewtwo's telekinesis again, trying to divert the blow. It was strong, strong enough to slow his arm for an instant… but not enough to stop it.

The hit landed squarely, sending Doro flying backward through the air. He hit the ground hard, rolling to a stop, unconscious but safe.

All Might straightened again, glancing toward the remaining four students.

Two down.

Four still standing.

His smile returned, calm but feral. "Good… Now let's see how the next generation really endures."

And with that, he blurred forward again — a shockwave marking his next attack.
