"She's still alive?!" Henry blurted out.
"Hm…?" Jiro suspiciously looked up.
"Why wouldn't she be alive?"
Henry had a stoic face. To his memories, Jiro's story did mention his mother- a sick woman. Who worked in brothels her earlier life and contracted a deadly disease, which killed her later and started Jiro's Vengeance.
So naturally, Henry though since she was already dead in the novel, it should be the same now… yet, it didn't seem that work out.
Before Jiro could say anything that would implicate him anymore, Henry's gears turned.
"I've heard of your mother's disease." Since he couldn't escape, might as well delve in, "Something quite painful and fatal for her health."
Jiro couldn't help but frown. He believed that Henry should have been tailing him for some time. For how long? It probably should have been around a week or so before their initial meeting.
