"This one is for the Water Tribe Breeding Center."
Natsume placed the ten Storage Balls into a small box.
Beside them were the Springy Mushrooms packed up by the Breloom, along with fresh milk to be delivered to Rina's bakery.
"Natsume, I'm changed."
Kiko came out wearing gray clothes.
"Natsume, what are these?"
Kiko looked curiously at the Storage Balls Natsume had set together.
"These are Farm orders."
Natsume explained, "We'll deliver them after dinner."
"That's amazing. You deliver all of these yourself?"
"Yeah."
"After all, I don't have any other employees here."
Kiko read the note pasted on the wooden crate aloud.
"The Water Tribe Breeding Center, and the Gym in Green Vine City."
"I know both places, but they're in completely opposite directions."
"That sounds exhausting."
Natsume smiled.
"Not really exhausting, but..."
Natsume thought to himself that if the orders kept growing, he and Dragonite couldn't possibly deliver everything by themselves forever.
The Farm really needed dedicated delivery employees.
"Pidgeotto~"
Up in the sky, the Pidgeotto that had appeared that morning was circling again.
Plump Beans are one of the favorite things of bird and fish Pokémon.
They easily attract these two kinds of Pokémon.
This Pidgeotto, flying in from somewhere unknown, had probably been drawn here by the ripe Plump Beans.
"Beedrill!"
The Beedrill that had just joined the Farm immediately tried to make a good impression when it saw a Wild Pokémon.
The Beedrill were still very territorial.
They wouldn't allow other Pokémon to come here looking for food.
"Beedrill!"
The two Beedrill flew toward that Pidgeotto.
White light lit up at their tails.
A sharp, white, line-like blast of energy shot toward Pidgeotto.
The Beedrill used Pin Missile!
"Pidgeotto!"
Pidgeotto flapped its wings, and a strong wind rose.
Whoosh!
The Pin Missile was blown off its attack path and exploded in the sky on both sides.
Natsume's gaze landed on Pidgeotto.
[Name: Pidgeotto]
[Type: Normal/Flying]
[Level: lv30]
[Ability: Keen Eye]
[Individual Values: hp 31, Attack 30, Defense 30, Special Attack 29, Special Defense 28, Speed 31]
[Moves: Tackle, Gust, Quick Attack, Whirlwind, Hurricane, Feather Dance, Aerial Ace]
[Egg Move: Air Cutter]
[Potential: Near Elite Four]
A Wild Pokémon that can evolve naturally and still reach such a high level was enough to prove this Pidgeotto's talent.
"Beedrill."
Seeing its attack scattered, the Beedrill immediately realized the difference in strength.
"Beedrill~"
The Beedrill called out, and more than a dozen more Beedrill flew up into the sky.
"Hold on, Beedrill."
Natsume stopped the Beedrill that was preparing to launch a mob attack.
"Beedrill."
When the Beedrill heard Natsume's voice, they slowly lowered their flight altitude.
Natsume waved at the Pidgeotto in the sky.
"Pidgeotto."
Pidgeotto looked at Natsume, circled in the air once, and then slowly landed on the grass in front of him.
Natsume crouched down and looked at this Pidgeotto, smiling.
"Pidgeotto, how did you get here?"
In the eyes of most Pokémon, lowering yourself first was proof of friendliness.
That made Pidgeotto relax a lot.
"Pidgeotto."
Pidgeotto told Natsume that it had heard it from the Pidgey.
The Pidgey said that to the south there was a very rich place, and humans called it the Farm.
There was endless delicious food inside the Farm.
The only problem was that the Pokémon inside the Farm were too fierce.
They didn't really dare to go eat there.
Pidgeotto was a little curious.
Pidgeotto wanted to know how delicious the food in the Farm could be.
How fierce the Pokémon here could be!
After Pidgeotto flew over, it saw that it really was just like the Pidgey had said.
Golden Hearty Grains, green Plump Beans, and lots of delicious Berries.
It was just that the look in that Serperior's eyes terrified Pidgeotto.
And then there was the Dragonite and Flygon lying down.
That Sirfetch'd waving a Leek also looked pretty fierce.
Still, the fiercest of all was that group of nonstop chattering Arcanine.
After hearing Pidgeotto's story, Natsume said, "Pidgeotto, do you want to settle down at my Farm?"
"Sometimes you'll need to help deliver a few things, but most of the time you'll still be very free."
"If you like battling, you can also go down to the Gym at the foot of the mountain and battle there."
"There's a challenger there every day."
"We've got Audino and Chansey at the Farm too, so you don't have to worry about getting hurt."
The Audino standing nearby heard its name and gave Pidgeotto a friendly greeting.
"Audino~"
"Pidgeotto?"
What Pidgeotto cared about most was whether it could eat the food in the Farm.
Natsume smiled.
"Of course."
"Whether it's Hearty Grains, Plump Beans, or the Berries in the Farm."
"You can eat all of them."
Pidgeotto thought, Then what's there to hesitate about?
Pidgeotto decided to join the Farm!
"Pidgeotto~"
Natsume took out a Poké Ball. "Welcome to the team, Pidgeotto."
Bang~
The Poké Ball shot out a red beam that landed on Pidgeotto.
Flash~ding.
Kiko watched from the side, a little dumbfounded.
Was catching Pokémon really this easy?
Natsume held Pidgeotto's Poké Ball and said, "Come out, Pidgeotto."
"Pidgeotto~"
Natsume looked at Pidgeotto and said, "Your first job is to catch all the Pidgey around here."
"Pidgeotto."
Pidgeotto thought the task was easy.
"Pidgeotto~"
Pidgeotto flew up into the air and called toward the woods.
Rustle, rustle~
A huge flock of Pidgey flew straight out of the forest.
"Pidgey~"
After Pidgeotto exchanged a few words with them.
The Pidgey followed behind Pidgeotto and landed in front of Natsume.
"Pidgeotto~"
Pidgeotto looked at Natsume with a hint of pride.
Task complete!
Group-living Pokémon had a natural tendency to obey their leader.
The Pidgey were already eyeing the food here, and with Pidgeotto here, they were naturally willing to join.
Natsume smiled. "Nice, Pidgeotto."
"From now on, you'll be the Farm's air guard."
Natsume then added, "And the Farm's delivery team, too."
"Pidgey~"
Natsume roughly counted them.
There were about thirty Pidgey in this flock, which was quite a lot.
Natsume waved his hand, and a batch of empty Poké Balls flew out from the cottage.
The Pidgey all went into the Poké Balls, and then were released again.
"Sirfetch'd."
Natsume called out to Sirfetch'd.
"Sirfetch'd."
Sirfetch'd came running over here with a Leek on its shoulder.
"Sirfetch'd, when you go down the mountain for battles later, take a few Pidgey with you to deal with the challengers down there."
"Train them hard so this flock of Pidgey can evolve into Pidgeotto as soon as possible."
The Farm Gym had a lot of new Trainers.
Natsume planned to have the Pidgey battle more often and evolve into Pidgeotto as soon as possible.
Once they all evolved, they could take over the Farm's delivery work.
"Sirfetch'd."
Sirfetch'd glanced at this flock of Pidgey and nodded slightly.
Natsume thought to himself: once this batch of crops is harvested, I'll need to open up a few more battle fields below the mountain too.
Kiko felt dizzy watching Natsume catch so many Pokémon in one go.
"What's wrong?"
Natsume asked, looking at Kiko's expression.
Kiko said, "I just think it's a little unbelievable."
"The other day at our school, someone tried to catch a Caterpie and ended up getting their bone broken by it."
"But here, these Pokémon all seem very willing to be caught by you."
For ordinary people, of course it wasn't possible to catch Pokémon like Natsume did, just by waving them over and chatting for a bit.
For most people, the simplest and most direct way to earn a Wild Pokémon's approval was still battle.
That wasn't easy.
Especially for newcomers like Kiko and the others who had just gotten their first Pokémon.
A lot of rookie Trainers, as soon as they got a Pokémon, couldn't wait to catch a Wild Pokémon.
But in most cases, even a Caterpie could beat you into running around in panic.
Because Wild Pokémon wouldn't wait for you to shout one, two, three before starting a battle.
If they sensed danger, they might just attack right away.
Not to mention group-living Pokémon like Pidgey and Spearow.
So many newcomers who had just gotten a Pokémon ended up being sent to the Pokémon Center because they were too reckless.
Among recently graduated high schoolers, there was even a joke: if you haven't been sent to the Pokémon Center by a Wild Pokémon, then your summer vacation isn't complete.
Natsume said naturally, "That's because I know what Pokémon want."
"A safe home, and a life they can choose freely."
"Most importantly, good food every day."
"Of course they'd want to live with me."
Kiko listened to Natsume and agreed.
"That's true."
"Honestly, when I saw your Farm, I even wanted to be a Pokémon and live here."
"But I think you're still amazing. After all, even Wild Pokémon are willing to talk to you."
Natsume looked at the Pokémon in the Farm and said calmly, "Pokémon are simple."
"If you're willing to treat them as equals, they'll naturally accept you."
On a chair in front of the cottage.
That special Eevee was staring at Natsume.
It had been watching Natsume the whole time.
This Eevee felt that this human seemed different from the people it had met before.
"Cinccino."
Cinccino ran over a little angrily.
Cinccino pointed at this Eevee's feet.
There was still mud on Eevee's feet.
Cinccino told Eevee to go to the mat by the door and wipe its feet clean before jumping onto the chair.
"Eevee."
Eevee hurriedly jumped down from the chair.
Eevee looked at Cinccino apologetically, then ran toward the other Eevee inside the Farm.
The Eevee were gathered together with Zorua and Larvitar, running around like children.
The laughter of these little troublemakers made the Farm even livelier and more full of energy.
Cinccino grumpily picked up the cushion from the chair and walked toward the room.
"Chansey~"
Chansey said Cinccino was too strict.
"Cinccino."
As Cinccino spoke, its gaze suddenly locked onto Chansey's egg.
Somehow, mud had gotten on the eggshell.
"Chansey...."
"Cinccino, Cinccino!"
Cinccino started scolding Chansey.
Chansey immediately looked a little guilty.
Chansey quietly moved its little short legs, one step, two steps~
Gone, gone.
A little Pokémon with mysophobia couldn't be messed with at all.
The little Pokémon in the Farm all had their own personalities.
Some Pokémon were battle-hungry, some were laid-back.
And some Pokémon, like Cinccino, were particular about certain things.
Even though everyone had different species and personalities.
In Natsume's Farm, everyone could still live together in harmony.
Living here in the way they liked.
"Natsume, where should I start working now?"
Kiko asked, looking at Natsume.
"Hmm, let me think."
Natsume was speaking when Misaki walked over, holding a box.
The box was full of ripe fruit that had fallen to the ground.
Beside her, Victreebel and the others were helping out.
Victreebel and the Bellsprout used the leaves on both sides to carry the box in their hands.
Natsume looked at Misaki and Victreebel as they came over and said, "Thanks for your hard work. You've gathered a lot."
Misaki set down the box in her hands and smiled.
"Yeah."
"There's still a lot on the ground."
The Berry that had been knocked down to the ground by the aftermath of the battle had all ripened under Jirachi's power.
And the tree was full of new fruit again.
Those Berry had been blown all over by the wind; you could pick one up every few steps.
But these Berry were all too dirty.
They were covered in dirt.
So after collecting all these Berry, they'd still need to be washed in water.
At this moment, Misaki's attention fell on Kiko.
"So pretty."
Misaki thought as she looked at Kiko.
Kiko was also drawn to Misaki.
She stared blankly at Misaki, her gaze unconsciously drifting downward.
Kiko couldn't help thinking, "So big."
"Are those clothes really not going to burst?"
Kiko lowered her head and glanced at herself.
Kiko suddenly felt a little inferior.
Damn it, they were both women. Why was there such a huge difference!
"Kiko?"
Natsume waved his hand in front of Kiko.
"Ah, yes."
Kiko quickly snapped back to her senses.
Natsume said, "Go pick fruit in the orchard with Misaki first."
"Okay."
Misaki looked at Kiko.
"Come with me."
"Yes."
Victreebel used Vine Whip to coil up a box and handed it to Kiko.
Looking at Victreebel, Kiko was still a little scared.
Kiko reached out nervously and took the box Victreebel handed her.
Pokémon like Victreebel were regulars in horror movies.
They also often appeared as villainous Pokémon in films and TV shows.
Natsume patted Kiko and said with a smile, "Relax, it won't eat you."
"Victreebel~"
Victreebel puffed up its big mouth and greeted Kiko.
"H-hello."
Kiko gave a somewhat stiff smile.
Looking at Victreebel's huge mouth, one that could swallow her whole, she only felt even more panicked.
Seeing that, Misaki pulled down the leaves on top of Victreebel's head, covering its big mouth.
"Victreebel, don't point your mouth at other people."
"Victreebel~"
Victreebel shrank back a little.
Kiko felt a bit guilty seeing that.
Kiko felt like she had let Victreebel down, so she quickly said, "It's fine. I think that's cute too."
As soon as Victreebel heard that, it immediately moved the leaves on its head aside again and happily leaned toward Kiko.
The expression on Kiko's face stiffened once more.
Natsume laughed.
"Go on."
"Get along well, okay?"
"Victreebel~"
Kiko followed Misaki and Victreebel toward the orchard.
After watching them leave, Natsume said to Gardevoir, "Let's wash these fruits."
Gardevoir nodded slightly.
"Come to think of it, once the Pidgeotto start handling delivery work, we should make some clothes for them."
While chatting with Gardevoir, Natsume used Psychic to control the Berry that Misaki and the others had brought over.
Under Psychic's control, those Berry fell into the river.
"Like the clothes Natsume is wearing?"
Gardevoir responded to Natsume while neatly letting the washed fruit fall back into the box.
Natsume said, "There's still a difference."
"The Pidgeotto's clothes would probably just be a little vest with Takamagahara Farm written on it."
Natsume imagined the future.
"If one day, Pokémon wearing our Farm's clothes were flying around all over the world."
"That would be a pretty amazing thing too, wouldn't it~"
