The air in Jax's chamber remained still for several long seconds after his voice faded.
There was something about the way he had called them, undeniably absolute, that lingered in the space itself. The mana within the room seemed to hum faintly, as if acknowledging the authority woven into his words.
Jax stood there near the center of the room, golden eyes calm, posture relaxed but grounded. The faint scent of Serika still lingered in the air, soft and comforting.
"…She's been busy," he muttered under his breath with a faint smile.
Then, the door opened and Natasha stepped inside.
As always, her posture was flawless, elegant, composed, every movement measured. Her long hair rested neatly along her back, her expression calm… but the moment her eyes landed on Jax, it changed.
Not dramatically, but enough to be noticed by Jax's extraordinary senses.
A warmth surfaced beneath that controlled exterior, her gaze softening in a way she allowed almost no one else to see.
