When she reached her chambers, Emilia took a moment to calm herself. She stood silently by the door, her chest rising and falling as she steadied her breathing.
Then she took a deep breath and closed the door behind her.
With a wave of her hand, the windows slammed shut one after another. The curtains fell, swallowing the room in darkness as the lamps flickered to life, bathing the chamber in a warm glow.
Only then did she walk toward her bed.
She knelt beside it and closed her eyes.
"I call..."
The words caught in her throat.
For a brief moment, doubt seized her. She still had two guesses left. If she failed, she would lose another chance forever. Yet if she was right, then countless mysteries would finally begin to unravel.
At last, she made up her mind.
"I call upon the Nameless Voice. I beseech you to gaze upon me favorably and hear my call."
She did not know the true name of the voice.
