The next morning, with Goku's permission, Shin began teaching Kushina the method for Instant Transmission.
Goku's explanation had been too technical for her—trying to get Kushina to understand concepts like resonance and frequency was nearly impossible.
So, it was up to Shin to explain it himself.
Thanks to their combined efforts, Kushina's own considerable power, and—most importantly—Shin's clever way of explaining things, Kushina had grasped the basic principles of Instant Transmission in just one day.
She was still clumsy with it, of course. She'd often find herself unable to move mid-teleport, or she'd just pop up in the same spot she started.
But at least she had learned the technique. With enough practice, it could be a useful tool in the future.
Shin, however, secretly vowed to do everything in his power to ensure Kushina would never have to use this skill to escape.
Time always seemed to fly. In the blink of an eye, three days had passed, and their time with Goku and the others had been pleasant.
Even Vegeta, persuaded by Trunks, had come to accept the situation. He had even reconciled with Goku.
He was slowly coming to terms with the fact that he couldn't save the planet on his own, not with his pride or his royal status. A true leader had to accept that there would be others who were stronger—even far stronger. Besides, Goku was a genius—no one could really compare.
As he thought about it, Vegeta gradually began to let go of his pride.
Kushina had also gotten used to the food. The first few days, she had been highly suspicious of everything, but after a few days of delicious meals, she had come around.
The "never say never" rule always seemed to apply to transmigrators.
But all good things must come to an end. The time machine's energy wasn't infinite.
And in another timeline, they themselves were still in danger.
So, Shin took the initiative and announced their departure to Goku and the others.
Understanding the reason, Goku and Vegeta readily agreed and insisted on throwing them a farewell party.
Shin tried to refuse, but his protests were useless. In the end, he gave in and agreed to attend the farewell dinner.
At the party, Goku showed Shin some of his understanding of the Super Saiyan 2 form. Sure enough, when he powered up, sparks of electricity crackled around his body.
Shin knew this was the telltale sign of Goku unlocking Super Saiyan 2. He was genuinely happy for him. After all, if Goku's strength increased rapidly, the situation with Cell would be completely different.
Vegeta also told Shin that he was on the verge of unlocking his own Super Saiyan form.
At the same time, Vegeta organized a military parade of two formations, showing Shin the results of the soldiers' training.
After some more conversation, it was soon nine o'clock at night.
According to Shin's plan, it was time to go back. If they delayed any longer and the situation changed, they might not be able to handle it.
So at nine o'clock, Shin, Kushina, and Trunks finally boarded the time machine again, preparing to return to their original timeline.
The time machine started up quickly. With his new Super Saiyan form, Shin wasn't afraid of the turbulence of time travel. Instead, he boldly opened his eyes to watch.
As the time machine traveled, it was as if they were wrapped in a protective green sphere, speeding through a long river of intertwining black and white.
With a soft click, the machine stopped.
The green protective shell opened.
The three of them had returned to their original timeline.
The Earth's weather was clear and sunny, showing no signs of impending doom.
Trunks asked excitedly, "Shin, does this mean our experiment was a success?"
Shin, however, didn't think so. He shook his head. "No, it's not that simple."
Trunks was confused. Shin continued, "Look, even Bulma is gone. The timeline of this world... has it changed?"
Trunks's heart dropped. His mother, Bulma—she was gone.
His home was completely empty.
According to the situation before they left, their house should have been filled with people, not just Bulma.
And Cell.
Trunks looked around and found that Cell, their sworn enemy, was also gone. There was no trace of him.
He quickly asked Shin, "Shin, what should we do now? Should we look for my mother?"
Shin nodded. At this point, there was probably no better course of action. At least that goal was clear and could provide them with enough information.
Trunks looked at the ground, then knelt to touch it carefully.
"Shin, based on my experience, everyone in my house went west. These are our family's tire tracks. I can feel it."
'A Super Saiyan's body really is amazing,' Shin thought to himself.
The two of them followed the direction of the tire tracks, heading west.
After a long journey, they finally reached a city. Though they didn't know its name, Shin went in anyway and spent a little money to ask someone for information.
It turned out that after they left, the timeline had changed.
Goku had been able to stably enter the Super Saiyan 2 state ten years ago. Therefore, even when the Androids attacked, they hadn't been able to cause large-scale casualties.
But a few days ago, Cell had found an opportunity and absorbed Androids 17 and 18. Now, he wanted to challenge the world's greatest fighters.
So everyone was gearing up to participate.
Shin asked a few more questions and found out that the location of the tournament was the same as before: the Northwest Sector 5 of Central City.
Goku, Vegeta, and the others had all been invited, so Vegeta's entire family had gone to watch the tournament. It seemed logical enough.
All in all, the two of them could finally breathe a sigh of relief. Especially Shin.
At least the world hadn't deviated into a future he couldn't recognize at all. If it had, his foreknowledge would be useless, and he'd be forced to rely solely on his own strength to fight Cell and the others head-on.
Although he now had the Super Saiyan state, compared to a Super Saiyan 2 Goku, he probably wasn't that much stronger.
