Offering the blessing: in the ancient wedding process, there are six steps in total, which are offering gifts, asking names, offering the blessing, offering the betrothal, setting the date, and welcoming the bride.
The first step is the matchmaker proposing the marriage, the second is both parties asking for names, then the year, month, and date; then comes the third step, offering the blessing, which means finding a diviner to review their birth dates.
Then comes offering the betrothal, which is the later engagement, followed by setting the date to confirm the wedding day.
In the end, welcoming the bride is the actual wedding ceremony.
Meanwhile, three letters must be prepared: the betrothal letter, the gift letter, and the welcoming letter. Only with these three letters and six betrothals can the bride be seen as truly married with proper status.
