Kasumi's heart visibly shattered. The confusion and shock on her face were painful to watch. Her beloved daughters were hitting and scolding the man she had just bared her soul to. Tears flooded her eyes as maternal panic and heartbreak took over.
"Stop it! Stop hurting him right now!" Kasumi lunged forward desperately, pushing Haruna and Yuko away with both hands. She dropped to her knees in front of me, cupping my face with trembling fingers.
"Jack… are you okay? Did they hurt you? Tell me truthfully—does anywhere hurt? I'm so sorry… I'm so sorry this is happening because of me!"
"I'm fine, really," I said gently, wiping her tears.
But Kasumi was far from calm. She turned to her daughters, shielding me with her body. "Why are you two doing this?! Don't touch him! It's not Jack's fault at all! I'm the one who seduced him."
