The afternoon sun gazed down at Chase from above, his arms lazily resting at his sides while his vision staggered on the calm water of the lake surrounding the small island with an ivory pavilion at its center and a rickety wooden bridge connecting the main land with the small piece of land.
Chase was seated on the fence closest to the water, allowing him to sit in the sun and ponder while his allies sat around a table a few feet away from him.
Luke was standing against a wooden beam, deep in thought after hearing Chase's story be told so thoroughly and accurately by Equan of House Lightning himself.
And having seen Chase silently nod along with it, Luke began to fear what exactly it took for Equan to tell a truthful story with one to one details.
Poppy was sitting on the ground below the fence Chase was seated upon, and wore quite a worried expression on her face.
Kaylynn was seated at the table, resting her chin on her palm with a thoughtful expression of her own.
Equan himself was laying backside down on the bench at the other side of the table, throwing a ball of lightning up and down, catching it and returning it back up over and over, only for it to continue the cycle until some sort of decision was made between the group.
Gemini was sitting beside Kaylynn, fiddling with some sort of mechanical contraption that sat in-between in his two hands, occasionally clattering against the wooden table.
Jacob, Justin, and Brody had almost came as well, but had decided that the meeting was more fit for active members of Unity instead of the fighters, with Justin having said that him and his men are for Chase's use in battle and nothing more, pointing out that he was no thinker and had confidence leaving the final decisions with Chase and his closest allies.
There was silence for a while, as Chase watched the water's soft waves roll up and down, occasionally forming a decently big wave that would roll over and crash against the islands small beach.
"I think it's best if we just leave it and continue on in the city until its best to leave... As we are all aware of, Chase is in no condition to fight and we shouldn't even risk the chance of him having to face off against a Paladin... And a top then strongest Paladin at that..." Poppy said with no emotion in her voice, stating what she had said as the true fact that it was.
But Equan could only shake his head and murmur.
"Got anything to add on, Archer?" Poppy asked, clearly bothered by Equan's obvious disapproval of her plan.
He clicked his tongue.
"No, I don't, and it's Actor not Archer. As to what I have to say about your decision, is well... A couple of things actually. First of all, who put you in charge? And Second of all, Chase said it best himself after we got back... Veximus is protecting something... Or else he wouldn't have been there with such a presence, there is no way someone known as the Sword of King Phillip is just mindlessly strolling through an isolated and hidden underground section of a flipping Coliseum!" Equan stood up, letting his ball of lightning dissolve.
"He's right..." Luna nodded, taking a seat next to Kaylynn and Gemini as she took a sip of some sort of tea swirling inside of a plastic cup.
"How so?" Poppy rolled her eyes.
"If Veximus is protecting something, then we probably may be the only people who could figure that much out, and if it ends up as something bad... We are the only people who can do something about it... Right Chase?" Luna flashed him a confident smile, but Chase only looked at her for a second, before returning to watching the calm waters of the lake around them.
Poppy stood up, clenching her fists at her sides as she glared at the back of Chase's head.
"Are you serious?" She asked, gritting her teeth as Chase slowly turned his body around to face Unity.
"I'm trying to think... If you guys want to come to a damn conclusion so bad... Then do it yourselves... There is no way we solve this with such broad ways of thinking... I mean gods damnit all, we don't even have any information on what could be down there! Poppy is right, there is no sense in willingly fighting someone as strong as Vex, especially if all thats down there is some back up weapons and armor..." Poppy smiled with a sigh in response to Chase's agreement, and was about to speak up before Chase continued on...
"However, when has it ever been that simple? What if it had been Rider who had some great plan to bring the kingdom to prosperity? Or Sazir who had found the cure to all diseases and the night before battle was able to convince Rhysara to agree to a peace treaty with the allied kingdoms? It's never as simple as some misunderstanding or convenient timing. I know for certain that whatever is down there. Is something that shouldn't be. Am I correct, Luke?" Chase asked, leaning back against the wooden beam that connected to the fence he sat upon.
Luke nodded slowly, stroking his chin as he looked down at the floor with a deep expression on his face.
"Yes... I said it not too long ago, Seh Jenah has dark origins and The House of Durangor is surely keeping something under wraps that could damage the reputation of all three families involved... However, I do not think that we should involve ourselves without knowing more." He said calmly, with some sort of tension hidden in the words that left his lips, and somehow Chase felt that Luke was hiding something of his own...
Chase turned towards the lake again, clicking his teeth together and rubbing his right shoulder before he came to a conclusion.
"We will wait until after the next Coliseum match to do something about this, and I will have Justin investigate in the mean time..." Chase declared, letting his words silence the rest of his allies, allowing the air to breath while Chase himself allowed his eyes to fixate on the water once more.
