There are so many things here that can be missed, why do they insist on doing the thing they most want in their hearts? Life and death, death and life are actually the same, it's just reincarnation.
They know, whether they can have it or not, it's not their decision. Whether they can do it or not is not for them to decide. What they're willing to do and say is up to them, and it has nothing whatsoever to do with anyone else. They know they've talked too much, that everything they do is wrong. What they can say and do now is because they cannot pray to God to forgive them for their past mistakes.
