Chapter 756: Battle Intent Demon Heart
Pfft!
High above the sky, Geng Yan's face suddenly turned deathly pale. A mouthful of fresh blood sprayed out as his body swayed, almost collapsing.
His horrified gaze locked onto Lin Langtian.
He simply could not believe that such a powerful attack of his had been so easily blocked by Lin Langtian.
That fellow was not even a true Third-Grade Sovereign yet.
Standing atop the Myriad Phenomena Demonic Body's head, Lin Langtian looked down at Geng Yan with a detached gaze, a trace of disdain flickering in his eyes.
According to Aunt Ling, the Myriad Phenomena Demonic Body could rank within the top thirty among the ninety-nine tiers of Sovereign Avatars—and that was not even counting its strange devouring ability.
Now that Lin Langtian was gradually unlocking more of its power, he had truly begun to appreciate how terrifying it was.
Forget someone who had merely touched upon the Fourth-Grade realm like Geng Yan—even a solid Fourth-Grade Sovereign might not be able to gain any advantage in his hands.
His black eyes swept over the pale-faced Geng Yan, a cold glint passing through them as his hands once again formed seals.
The Flame Drum and Thunder Drum tore through space, reappearing before the Demonic Nightmare Avatar and slamming down viciously.
Boom!
The air itself exploded, visible ripples of spiritual power surging outward in violent waves.
Geng Yan's expression turned a sickly shade of green. He gritted his teeth and dared not slack off in the slightest.
Demonic light erupted from the Demonic Nightmare Avatar, rapidly forming a vast black curtain before it like a protective shield.
Bang!
But once again, the Flame Drum and Thunder Drum displayed their horrifying power, piercing straight through the dark barrier.
It felt as though nothing in existence could bar their path.
Truly indestructible.
Geng Yan's face finally changed completely.
Before he could retreat, the two drums crashed down upon the Demonic Nightmare Avatar at an inescapable speed.
Boom!
Demonic lightning and demonic flames exploded in unison, and a massive shockwave burst outward.
The Demonic Nightmare Avatar shuddered violently and was blasted backward, smashing one towering mountain peak after another into dust.
A scar tens of thousands of meters long was carved into the land below.
At its very end, dust and smoke billowed into the air.
The Demonic Nightmare Avatar was now covered in cracks. In the next moment, the fractures spread to their limits and the avatar shattered completely, dissolving into countless motes of light.
Pfft!
As it crumbled, a battered figure shot out from within, spewing blood as he slammed into a mountainside.
Before Geng Yan could catch his breath, the mountain behind him exploded, collapsing into rubble.
High above, the Myriad Phenomena Demonic Body beneath Lin Langtian's feet slowly dissipated. Lin Langtian raised his hand, and Geng Yan's limp body shot up toward him, caught in an invisible grip.
Geng Yan was now covered in blood, his spiritual power in utter chaos. Gravely wounded, he no longer had any ability to resist.
Holding him in midair, Lin Langtian lifted his head to the even fiercer battle raging in the nine heavens and said with a faint smile, "Old Demon Geng, it seems this Elder Geng has failed to live up to your expectations."
As his voice echoed out, Old Demon Geng's spiritual power suddenly grew disordered.
He had clearly spotted Geng Yan in Lin Langtian's grasp. A furious roar rang out at once. "Lin Langtian, let him go!"
"You should worry about yourself first," a cold, melodious voice replied.
In the nine heavens, Jiang Yinlan's figure blurred forward, silver sword in hand.
Her blade tore through space like the sharpest divine weapon, erupting into a storm of sword light that swept down on Old Demon Geng.
Bang! Bang!
Old Demon Geng poured all his strength into defending himself. But though they were both Fifth-Grade Sovereigns and his foundation was deeper, Jiang Yinlan's Grand Perfection-level sword art gave her a razor-sharp advantage. Her offense overwhelmed him, and her strength gradually surpassed his.
With Lin Langtian's victory bolstering her momentum, Jiang Yinlan's attacks grew even more ferocious, driving Old Demon Geng into an increasingly sorry state.
At the same time, the morale of Ten Thousand Demons Gate's alliance plummeted.
Anyone could see that the situation had turned disastrously against them.
The forces of the Domain of Chaos no longer dared linger. Some began to fall back.
This retreat quickly triggered a chain reaction. In less than a few minutes, the once-fierce Ten Thousand Demons alliance dissolved into chaos as countless figures scattered and fled.
Seeing this, the Heaven-Earth Sect's many forces launched a ruthless pursuit, their battle cries shaking the skies.
At this point, the outcome of the war could not have been clearer.
"Damn it!"
Old Demon Geng roared in fury, scrambling to break out of Jiang Yinlan's encirclement.
He clashed with her once more, and the impact sent him tumbling back more than a thousand meters.
"Jiang Yinlan, Lin Langtian, you two just wait. My Ten Thousand Demons Gate will not let this go!"
With a twist of his body, Old Demon Geng fled toward the distance. In a matter of moments, his figure vanished beyond the horizon, leaving only his enraged shout echoing in the air.
Lin Langtian frowned slightly as he watched him escape but did not pursue.
For now, it was enough to annihilate Ten Thousand Demons Gate and strip it of all its resources.
As for Old Demon Geng, at Lin Langtian's current pace of cultivation, half a year from now the man might not even be his match. He simply wasn't worth worrying about.
Swish!
Jiang Yinlan descended from the sky, her tall, slender figure alighting beside Lin Langtian.
"Are you hurt?" she asked, her bright, cold eyes resting on him with clear concern.
Lin Langtian shook his head with a smile, then turned his gaze toward the routed Ten Thousand Demons forces and the looming bulk of Ten Thousand Demons Mountain. A faint smile tugged at his lips.
Ten Thousand Demons Gate now belonged to them.
Lin Langtian and Jiang Yinlan did not join in the slaughter that followed. Instead, they left the cleanup to the vassal forces.
The two of them led the Silver Mist Guards in taking over Ten Thousand Demons Mountain.
This was their prize of war.
No one had any objections.
After seizing the mountain, Jiang Yinlan immediately took Lin Langtian, Mu Honglian, and the others straight to the most crucial location: the treasure vault.
As expected, when they reached the vault, a defensive formation guarded the entrance.
But such an array was hardly enough to stop Jiang Yinlan. With a sweep of her longsword, the bronze gates of the spiritual vault shattered apart.
Hum!
As the gate collapsed, a surge of pure spiritual power burst out like a flood, drawing delighted looks from Jiang Yinlan and the others.
She stepped inside first, with Lin Langtian close behind.
Within the vault, crystalline streams coiled through the air like giant serpents.
A pure, dense spiritual aura flowed endlessly from them.
They were all formed from Sovereign Spirit Liquid, preserved in its purest state within special spirit arrays.
"It seems most of the Sovereign Spirit Liquid survived intact," Lin Langtian said with a smile.
Jiang Yinlan's usually cool and aloof expression softened for once. As the master of a palace, only she knew how exhausting it was to maintain a power like theirs.
She couldn't help glancing at Lin Langtian, her beautiful eyes glimmering faintly.
If not for him, facing such burdens alone might truly have been too much.
"Honglian, tally all of this Sovereign Spirit Liquid and send it all back to Silver Mist Palace," Jiang Yinlan instructed the clearly excited Mu Honglian.
"Got it," Mu Honglian replied happily, hurrying off to carry out her task.
Lin Langtian lingered for a while. When he saw that Jiang Yinlan had no specific instructions for him, he began to quietly explore the vault on his own.
After a moment, he stepped deeper inside and stopped before a corner, his gaze landing on a stone platform there.
Several pitch-black boxes rested atop the platform, each containing scrolls faintly flickering with demonic lightning.
With a sweep of his sleeve, Lin Langtian sent out a wave of spiritual power that shattered the protective barrier around the platform.
He then reached out and drew one of the demonic scrolls into his hand.
Upon a quick glance, he saw three glowing characters on its surface.
Ten Thousand Demons Body.
It was the same body-refining divine art Geng Yan had cultivated.
Lin Langtian closed his eyes briefly, examining the contents of the scroll before shaking his head.
Though it was indeed a body-refining technique, for someone who already possessed the Dragon Kun Body, its benefits were minimal.
Still, it was a genuine refining art, so he casually stored it in his spatial bracelet before checking the remaining scrolls.
Most of Ten Thousand Demons Gate's collections turned out to be ordinary divine arts, none of which appealed to him.
After searching for a while, Lin Langtian could only sigh in mild disappointment and was about to leave when something caught his eye.
His gaze shifted to another stone platform nearby.
Upon it lay a dark, pitch-black bamboo slip.
Faint demonic markings could be seen on its surface, though the muted color made it seem rather unremarkable.
Still, trusting his instincts, Lin Langtian flicked his hand and drew the bamboo slip to him, then sent spiritual power into it to extract the information hidden within.
Battle Intent Demon Heart: forged from the heart of an Intention Demon Clan expert and refined through a special method…
After a while, his closed eyes snapped open, surprise flickering within them.
This was no ordinary divine art.
It was a method for refining something called the Battle Intent Demon Heart.
This Battle Intent Demon Heart resembled the Intention Demon Clan's methods and could only be created using the heart of one of their experts as material.
The requirements were harsh, but its effects were incredibly powerful. If successfully refined, the Battle Intent Demon Heart would allow its owner to devour battle intent to strengthen themselves.
In army clashes, the strength of battle intent often decided the outcome. Under normal circumstances, it depended on troop numbers, quality, and the commander's skill.
Lin Langtian had been able to lead the relatively weaker Silver Mist Guards to victory over the stronger Blood Eagle Guards and Ten Thousand Demons Legion precisely because he had stepped onto the path of a battle formation master.
His control of battle intent far surpassed that of Dong Kui and Geng Yan.
But he knew that in the future, his opponents would only grow stronger. He would eventually face true battle formation masters, at which point his current advantage might evaporate.
This Battle Intent Demon Heart, however, would once again tip the scales in his favor.
If he obtained it, he could devour the enemy's battle intent during army clashes and convert it into his own strength, effectively doubling his advantage.
"Didn't expect Ten Thousand Demons Gate to be hiding something like this," Lin Langtian muttered, eyes alight with surprise.
If the bamboo slip's contents were true, then Ten Thousand Demons Gate had been in possession of a terrifying trump card.
A light fragrance drifted in from behind as Jiang Yinlan walked over. Seeing her approach, Lin Langtian handed the bamboo slip to her.
"So it really is the Battle Intent Demon Heart…"
Jiang Yinlan's expression shifted slightly, indicating she recognized the name.
"This item was created in ancient times by a battle formation master of the Heaven-Earth Continent using the heart of an Intention Demon Clan expert," she said with a faint frown. "Because of it, the continent became a prime target of the Intention Demon Clan's assault.
"That expert, as well as the method to refine the Battle Intent Demon Heart, were thought to have vanished in that war.
"Who would have thought that after all these years, the refining method would resurface in the hands of Ten Thousand Demons Gate…"
She paused, noting the eager glint in Lin Langtian's eyes. "You're interested in this Battle Intent Demon Heart?"
Lin Langtian nodded slightly.
For a battle formation master, it was an unparalleled weapon. Of course he was tempted.
"To refine a Battle Intent Demon Heart, you'll need the heart of an Intention Demon Clan expert," Jiang Yinlan continued. "Now that we've taken Ten Thousand Demons Gate, we can afford to rest here for a while.
"Later, we'll head to Ten Thousand Demons Abyss. It's an ancient battlefield—perhaps you'll find what you need there."
"An ancient battlefield… Ten Thousand Demons Abyss…" Lin Langtian murmured, then nodded.
As the two spoke, Mu Honglian returned, cheeks flushed with excitement.
"The Sovereign Spirit Liquid here, based on an initial count, should be around a hundred forty or a hundred fifty thousand drops," she reported. "There are also quite a number of artifacts and divine arts. Converted to Sovereign Spirit Liquid, they'd be worth another sixty or seventy thousand."
Lin Langtian and Jiang Yinlan both smiled.
Silver Mist Palace's yearly income barely reached ten thousand drops, yet they had just taken over a vault containing over a hundred thirty thousand.
Such a harvest would instantly make their palace resource-rich.
Jiang Yinlan let out a soft laugh. "This really does solve an urgent problem. Honglian, have everyone sort and transport everything. We'll be stationed here for a while."
"Alright!" Mu Honglian answered brightly.
Jiang Yinlan gave the vault one last sweeping glance, then stepped outside with Lin Langtian. After a brief discussion, the two headed toward the depths of Ten Thousand Demons Gate.
Deep within Ten Thousand Demons Gate.
Lin Langtian and Jiang Yinlan hovered in the sky, their gazes fixed on the land below.
There, a colossal fissure split the mountains, stretching for nearly a thousand meters. Darkness filled its depths, bottomless and foreboding.
A chilling, terrifying aura surged from the abyss, sending shivers down the spine.
