...

Leah laughed quietly, as Francesco leaned back in his chair. And for the first time in days, he felt completely at peace.

Morning came quietly over the Richmond neighborhood.

Soft sunlight slipped through the tall windows of the mansion, stretching long golden lines across the polished wooden floors and the pale rugs in the living room.

Outside, the garden was still damp from the early morning dew.

Birds chirped somewhere among the trees along the back fence.

Inside the house, everything felt calm.

Peaceful.

A kind of peaceful that hadn't existed for days.

On the living room coffee table sat two plates of breakfast.

Toast.

Scrambled eggs.

Fresh fruit.

And two mugs of coffee that still released gentle curls of steam into the air.

On the couch, Francesco Lee sat comfortably in a loose gray hoodie and black sweatpants, one leg stretched out while the other rested casually on the floor.

Beside him, Leah Williamson sat cross-legged with a blanket draped loosely across her lap.

Her hair was tied back casually.

Neither of them had bothered to dress up yet.

There were no cameras waiting.

No reporters outside the gate.

Just a quiet morning.

On the floor a few feet away, Cheddar as the small corgi puppy they had adopted recently was focused entirely on his bowl of dog food.

The little dog's tail wagged enthusiastically with every bite.

Occasionally he paused to glance up toward the couch as if making sure his humans were still there.

Francesco watched him with mild amusement.

"He eats like he's been starving for weeks."

Leah laughed softly.

"That's because he thinks every meal might be his last."

Cheddar's ears perked up slightly at the sound of their voices, but he quickly returned to his food like a professional athlete focused on the task.

Francesco reached over and grabbed the TV remote.

"Let's see what the world is saying today."

Leah groaned lightly.

"Oh no."

He pressed the power button.

The television flickered to life.

Within seconds a news channel filled the screen.

The headline at the bottom of the broadcast read in bold white letters:

FRANCESCO LEE CLEARED IN HIGH-PROFILE COURT CASE

Leah sighed dramatically.

"We really have to watch this?"

Francesco shrugged with a small smile.

"I'm curious."

The broadcast switched to footage from the courthouse the day before.

Clips of reporters crowding the steps.

Camera flashes exploding in the air.

The moment Jorge Mendes raised his hand to quiet the reporters.

Then footage of Francesco speaking calmly to the press.

Leah leaned back against the couch.

"Well… at least you look confident."

Francesco squinted slightly at the screen.

"I look tired."

"You were tired."

"Fair point."

Cheddar suddenly finished his bowl and trotted toward the couch, jumping clumsily onto the rug beside them.

He flopped down dramatically like he had just finished an intense workout.

Francesco scratched behind the dog's ears.

"You're living the good life, huh?"

The puppy responded by licking his hand.

On the TV, the news anchor began narrating the events of the trial.

"Yesterday marked the conclusion of one of the most talked-about legal cases involving a professional footballer in recent years."

Images of the courtroom flashed across the screen.

Francesco leaned forward slightly.

Leah noticed immediately.

"You're really watching this."

"I want to see how they frame it."

The broadcast continued.

"The court ultimately ruled in favor of football star Francesco Lee, determining that the accusations brought by Sofia Carter were not supported by credible evidence."

Leah glanced at him.

"You handled that whole thing better than most people would."

Francesco shrugged again.

"I didn't really have a choice."

The footage shifted.

Clips from inside the courtroom appeared, illustrations and recreated visuals used by the news network.

Then the anchor's tone changed slightly.

"But one of the most dramatic moments of the trial came during testimony from a key witness…"

Francesco's eyes narrowed slightly.

"Oh."

Leah noticed his expression.

"What?"

The television switched to a recorded courtroom clip.

A woman sitting at the witness stand.

The caption at the bottom read:

RACHEL DONOVAN — FRIEND OF SOFIA CARTER

Leah blinked.

"Wait…"

She pointed toward the screen.

"That's her friend, right?"

Francesco nodded slowly.

"Yeah."

They both leaned forward slightly.

The footage replayed a critical moment from the trial.

The courtroom had been silent in the recording.

The prosecutor's voice asked calmly:

"Miss Donovan, you were present on the night Sofia Carter claims the incident occurred. Is that correct?"

The woman nodded nervously in the footage.

"Yes."

"And did you personally witness Mr. Lee behaving inappropriately toward Sofia Carter?"

The witness hesitated.

A long pause filled the room.

Even watching it again through the television felt tense.

Francesco remembered that moment clearly.

Leah leaned closer.

"What happened again?"

Francesco didn't answer.

He just watched.

On the TV, the witness took a breath.

Then she spoke.

"No."

The word echoed through the courtroom recording.

The news anchor spoke over the clip.

"In a moment that surprised many observers, Sofia Carter's own friend contradicted her testimony…"

Leah's eyebrows shot up slightly.

"Oh wow."

The clip continued.

The lawyer's voice asked another question.

"To be clear, Miss Donovan… did you see Mr. Lee do anything inappropriate toward Sofia Carter that night?"

The witness shook her head firmly.

"No."

She swallowed nervously before continuing.

"He didn't do anything."

Leah leaned back slowly.

"That must have destroyed her case."

Francesco nodded quietly.

"Pretty much."

On the television, the witness continued explaining.

"Sofia was angry that night, but not because of him."

The courtroom recording showed the lawyers exchanging glances.

"And why was she angry?" the prosecutor asked.

The witness hesitated again.

Then she answered.

"Because he rejected her."

Leah's mouth fell open slightly.

"Wait—"

Francesco groaned softly and rubbed his forehead.

"Yeah."

The broadcast continued replaying the moment.

The witness explained further.

"Sofia tried flirting with him earlier that night… but he wasn't interested."

The courtroom murmured in the recording.

The witness continued nervously.

"She was embarrassed… and she kept saying she was going to 'make him regret it.'"

Leah stared at the screen in disbelief.

"Oh my god."

Francesco sighed.

"That was the moment the trial basically ended."

The news anchor returned to the broadcast.

"This testimony ultimately became one of the most pivotal moments of the case."

Leah shook her head slowly.

"She literally betrayed her."

Francesco shrugged.

"Or she just told the truth."

Cheddar barked once suddenly, as if adding his own opinion.

Leah laughed.

"Even the dog agrees."

The news segment continued showing highlights from the trial.

Clips of Francesco entering the courthouse.

Footage of reporters shouting questions.

The moment the verdict was announced.

Leah glanced sideways at him again.

"You realize the entire world has watched this by now."

Francesco nodded.

"Yeah."

She nudged him lightly with her elbow.

"You're trending everywhere."

"Great."

She smirked.

"Don't worry. This time it's for the right reason."

Francesco reached over and grabbed a piece of toast from his plate.

"Next time I trend, I'd prefer it to be because of football."

Leah grinned.

"Scoring a hat-trick?"

"I'd settle for that."

The television anchor began wrapping up the report.

"Following the verdict, Lee returned home with his family and representatives. Sources close to the player say he intends to take a short break before returning to his off season work."

Leah raised an eyebrow.

"Short break?"

Francesco chuckled.

"That means today."

"Already?"

"Jorge texted me last night."

Leah laughed.

"Of course he did."

Cheddar suddenly hopped up onto the couch between them, curling up like a fuzzy loaf of bread.

Francesco scratched the puppy's head again.

"You've got the easiest life out of all of us."

Leah leaned her head slightly against Francesco's shoulder.

"You know something?"

"What?"

She looked toward the television one last time.

The footage of the trial was still playing.

But it didn't feel heavy anymore.

It felt… finished.

"You're going to come out of this stronger."

Francesco thought about that for a moment.

Maybe she was right.

The last week had been brutal.

But the truth had come out.

And now the world knew it.

He leaned back into the couch.

Cheddar snored quietly between them.

Leah sipped her coffee.

And outside the windows, the Richmond morning continued peacefully.

The Richmond morning carried on quietly around them.

Outside the tall glass windows of the living room, a soft breeze moved the branches of the trees that lined the garden. Sunlight had grown brighter now, filling the open space of the house with a warm, gentle glow.

The television was still playing in the background, though neither of them was really paying attention anymore.

The report had already repeated the same clips three times.

Courtroom footage.

The witness testimony.

The moment the verdict was announced.

Now the channel had moved on to a discussion panel where two legal analysts and a sports commentator were debating the wider impact of the case.

But on the couch, the attention of Francesco Lee and Leah Williamson had drifted away from the television.

Between them, Cheddar the corgi had curled up like a loaf of bread and fallen asleep.

His tiny paws twitched occasionally like he was chasing something in a dream.

Leah glanced down at him and smiled softly.

"Look at him."

Francesco followed her gaze.

The dog let out a tiny snore.

Francesco chuckled quietly.

"Must be nice."

Leah nudged him lightly.

"What?"

"Eat, sleep, repeat. No legal trials."

Francesco leaned back deeper into the couch, letting his head rest against the cushion.

For a few seconds, neither of them spoke.

The calm felt good.

Really good.

But there was something sitting in the back of Francesco's mind.

Something he hadn't said yet.

Something he had been thinking about since the trial ended.

He glanced sideways toward Leah.

She was slowly stirring her coffee with a spoon while watching Cheddar sleep.

Francesco hesitated.

Then he spoke.

"Hey."

Leah looked up.

"Hmm?"

He shifted slightly on the couch, his voice a little more serious than before.

"I want to tell you something."

Leah raised an eyebrow slightly.

"Okay…"

Francesco exhaled slowly.

"You know that whole situation, with the nightclub."

Leah's expression softened immediately.

She knew exactly what he meant.

The night that had started everything.

The place where Sofia had approached him.

The place where things spiraled into accusations and chaos.

Francesco rubbed the back of his neck.

"I've been thinking about it."

Leah didn't interrupt.

She just listened.

Francesco continued.

"I promise you something."

He turned slightly toward her now.

"I'm never going to a nightclub again."

Leah blinked.

He kept talking before she could respond.

"I mean it."

He gestured lightly with his hands.

"Even if the guys from the team invite me."

His voice was sincere.

"Even if everyone else goes."

He shrugged.

"It's not worth it."

Leah stared at him for a moment.

Her expression was thoughtful.

Francesco continued.

"That place caused all of this."

He glanced toward the television where the news report still quietly played.

"Everything started there."

His voice lowered slightly.

"And I don't ever want to risk something like that again."

The room fell quiet for a moment.

Leah set her coffee mug down slowly on the table.

Then she turned fully toward him.

Her expression was calm.

But also a little surprised.

"Francesco…"

He looked at her.

"Yes?"

She tilted her head slightly.

"You don't have to do that."

He frowned slightly.

"What do you mean?"

Leah leaned back against the couch, pulling the blanket slightly closer around her shoulders.

"I'm okay with you going to nightclubs."

Francesco blinked.

"You are?"

She nodded.

"Yeah."

He looked genuinely confused.

"After everything that happened?"

Leah sighed softly and brushed a loose strand of hair behind her ear.

"Yes."

She paused for a moment before continuing.

"But only under one condition."

Francesco raised an eyebrow.

"What condition?"

Leah looked him straight in the eyes.

"As long as you stay loyal to me."

Her voice wasn't accusing.

It wasn't suspicious.

It was simply honest.

Francesco immediately nodded.

"Of course I—"

But Leah gently raised a hand to stop him.

"Let me finish."

He nodded again.

"Okay."

Leah leaned forward slightly, resting her elbows on her knees.

"You're a professional footballer."

She gestured lightly toward him.

"You have teammates."

"You have friends."

"You have a social life."

She paused.

"And I don't want you to start isolating yourself because of one bad situation."

Francesco listened carefully.

Leah continued.

"Football teams are like families."

"You guys go out together sometimes."

"You celebrate wins."

"You relax after tough matches."

She shrugged.

"That's normal."

She looked at him again.

"And I don't want you to start pushing your teammates away because of this single incident."

Francesco was quiet.

Leah's voice softened slightly.

"I trust you."

That sentence hung gently in the air.

Francesco stared at her.

"You… trust me?"

Leah nodded.

"Of course I do."

She gave a small smile.

"If I didn't trust you, I wouldn't be here."

Cheddar shifted slightly between them, letting out another sleepy snore.

Leah glanced down at him briefly, then back at Francesco.

"And honestly…"

She sighed quietly.

"There's something else I should say."

Francesco tilted his head slightly.

"What?"

Leah hesitated.

For the first time during the conversation, she looked slightly uncomfortable.

She took a breath.

"I wasn't perfect during this whole thing either."

Francesco frowned.

"What do you mean?"

Leah looked down at her hands.

"You remember when I left."

Francesco's expression softened immediately.

He did remember.

The moment when the accusations first exploded across social media.

The moment when emotions ran high.

The moment when Leah packed a bag which also grab Cheddar and drove back to her parents' house for a couple of days.

Leah continued quietly.

"I let my emotions take over."

Her voice was calm, but there was a trace of regret in it.

"When the news first broke…"

She shook her head slightly.

"I was angry."

Francesco didn't interrupt.

She continued.

"I was confused."

"And honestly… I was hurt."

She glanced up at him again.

"But I reacted badly."

Francesco leaned forward slightly.

"Leah—"

She raised a hand gently.

"No, let me finish."

He nodded.

She continued softly.

"I should have talked to you first."

"I should have listened."

"But instead…"

She shrugged slightly.

"I let my emotions control me."

Her eyes drifted briefly toward the window.

"And I went back to my parents' house."

Francesco remembered that moment vividly.

The quiet house.

The empty space beside him.

The uncertainty.

Leah continued.

"I stayed there for a day or two."

She smiled faintly.

"Mostly because my mom kept making tea and telling me to calm down."

Francesco chuckled slightly at that image.

Leah noticed and smiled too.

"But after a while…"

She tapped her fingers lightly on the couch.

"My head cleared."

She looked back at him.

"And I realized something."

"What?"

Leah answered simply.

"You deserved my trust."

The room grew quiet again.

Francesco felt something warm settle in his chest.

Leah continued.

"I came back because I knew the truth would come out."

"And because I knew the man I fell in love with wouldn't do something like that."

Francesco didn't say anything for a moment.

He just looked at her.

Then he reached over and gently took her hand.

"You don't have to apologize for being human."

Leah smiled softly.

"Maybe not."

"But I still should."

Francesco shook his head.

"No."

He squeezed her hand lightly.

"You were scared."

"That's normal."

He shrugged slightly.

"I probably would've reacted the same way if the situation was reversed."

Leah laughed quietly.

"Really?"

"Yeah."

"I'd probably panic too."

They both laughed softly.

The tension that had briefly entered the conversation faded again.

Leah leaned back into the couch.

"So no more dramatic promises about never going to nightclubs."

Francesco raised an eyebrow.

"You sure?"

She nodded.

"Just remember the important rule."

"What rule?"

She poked his shoulder playfully.

"Stay loyal."

Francesco smiled.

"That one's easy."

Cheddar suddenly lifted his head, looking at both of them as if he sensed the conversation was about something important.

Then he yawned dramatically.

Leah laughed.

"I think he approves."

Francesco scratched the dog's head again.

"Best relationship counselor ever."

The television continued playing quietly in the background.

The trial footage had finally ended.

Now the channel was showing highlights from recent football matches.

Francesco glanced at the screen.

Then back at Leah.

"You know…"

"What?"

He leaned his head back again, feeling lighter than he had in days.

"I think things are finally going back to normal."

Leah rested her head gently against his shoulder.

"Yeah."

Outside, the Richmond neighborhood remained peaceful.

Inside the mansion, breakfast plates sat half-finished on the coffee table.

Cheddar curled up between them again.

The living room settled back into that slow, comfortable rhythm that only quiet mornings seemed to have.

The sunlight had climbed higher now, spilling across the wide windows and warming the pale wood floor. Outside, the Richmond street remained calm with the distant hum of an occasional passing car and the rustle of wind through the trees.

Inside the house, breakfast plates still sat on the coffee table.

A few crumbs of toast remained.

Francesco's coffee mug was nearly empty.

Leah's was still half full.

Between them, Cheddar had returned to sleep, curled into a tight little ball with his nose tucked under his paw.

The television continued running in the background, now showing a sports segment instead of legal commentary.

Highlights from recent matches played silently on the screen.

A replay showed a long cross into the box.

A striker leaping above defenders.

A header crashing into the net.

The crowd roaring.

Francesco watched it for a second.

Then leaned his head back again.

"You know what I don't miss?"

Leah tilted her head slightly.

"What?"

He gestured lazily toward the television.

"Reporters yelling questions."

Leah chuckled.

"Yeah… that looked like chaos yesterday."

Francesco rubbed his eyes slightly.

"Chaos is a polite word."

They both relaxed back into the couch again.

It felt good.

Really good.

But that calm didn't last long.

Because suddenly.

HONK.

A car horn sounded from outside.

Short.

Clear.

Unexpected.

Cheddar's ears shot straight up.

The little corgi lifted his head immediately, alert.

"Woof?"

Francesco frowned slightly.

"Hmm?"

Leah turned her head toward the window.

"Are we expecting someone?"

Francesco shook his head.

"No."

Another short HONK echoed faintly from outside the gate.

Cheddar jumped off the couch and trotted toward the front hallway like a tiny security guard.

Leah laughed softly.

"Well someone thinks it's important."

Francesco reached for the remote again and switched the television feed.

The screen changed.

Instead of sports highlights, the display now showed the live security camera feed from outside the front gate.

One of the perks of having a modern house with a full CCTV system.

The driveway camera appeared on screen.

And immediately Francesco recognized the car sitting outside the gate.

His eyebrows lifted.

"Oh."

Leah leaned forward slightly.

"What?"

Francesco pointed at the screen.

"That's not just someone."

Leah looked closer.

A dark SUV sat just outside the gate.

Inside it.

Francesco could already see familiar faces through the windshield.

He chuckled quietly.

"Oh wow."

Leah squinted at the screen.

"Wait…"

Then she recognized them too.

"Oh my god."

Inside the car were several of Francesco's teammates.

Alexis Sánchez sat in the passenger seat leaning forward slightly like he was trying to see the camera.

Behind him sat Olivier Giroud with his arms folded and an amused grin on his face.

In the back row, Andrew Robertson and Kyle Walker appeared to be arguing about something while pointing toward the house.

And squeezed into the middle seats were Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Héctor Bellerín.

Leah blinked.

"That's… your teamnates."

Francesco laughed.

"Yeah."

He picked up the gate control tablet from the side table.

"They must've come to check on me."

Leah smirked.

"Or to see if the mansion survived the legal drama."

Francesco pressed the button.

Outside on the screen, the large front gate slowly slid open.

The SUV rolled forward onto the long private driveway lined with trees.

Cheddar barked excitedly.

"Woof! Woof!"

Leah laughed again.

"Looks like someone's excited."

Francesco stood up from the couch and stretched his arms slightly.

"Well… I guess breakfast just turned into a team meeting."

The SUV slowly drove down the driveway, gravel crunching under its tires.

A moment later it stopped in the circular driveway directly in front of the mansion.

Francesco walked toward the front door.

Leah followed behind him.

He opened the door just as the car doors outside began opening one by one.

The first person to step out was Alexis Sánchez.

He stretched his arms dramatically like he had just finished a long road trip.

"Ahhh."

Then he spotted Francesco standing in the doorway.

Immediately he raised both hands.

"Alive!"

Francesco laughed.

"Barely."

Giroud stepped out next, adjusting his jacket casually.

"Well look at that."

He gave Francesco a playful once-over.

"You survived the media storm."

"Just about."

Behind them Robertson and Walker climbed out of the back seats.

Robertson stretched his legs.

"Mate that drive was longer than I thought."

Walker rolled his shoulders.

"Worth it."

Meanwhile Oxlade-Chamberlain and Bellerín stepped out last.

Bellerín immediately pointed toward the house.

"Okay I'm just saying…"

He grinned.

"That mansion looks even bigger in person."

Francesco shook his head laughing.

"You guys are unbelievable."

The group walked toward the front entrance.

Cheddar appeared behind Francesco's legs and barked excitedly.

Walker crouched slightly.

"Oi look at this little guy!"

He held out his hand.

Cheddar sniffed it suspiciously.

Robertson chuckled.

"Careful mate. That's the real boss of the house."

Leah stepped forward beside Francesco.

"Good morning, everyone."

The players immediately straightened slightly in polite greeting.

Giroud smiled warmly.

"Good morning."

Sánchez gave a friendly nod.

"Hi Leah."

Bellerín waved casually.

"Hey."

For a moment the group just stood there awkwardly.

Then Robertson rubbed the back of his neck.

"Right…"

He looked toward Francesco.

"We should probably say something first."

Walker nodded.

"Yeah."

Giroud exhaled slightly and stepped forward.

His voice became more serious now.

"Leah…"

She looked at him.

Giroud continued calmly.

"We actually came here because we wanted to apologize."

Leah blinked slightly.

"Apologize?"

Robertson nodded.

"Yeah."

Walker folded his arms awkwardly.

"This whole mess started because we invited Francesco out that night."

Sánchez added quietly,

"If we didn't go to that nightclub… none of this would've happened."

The group exchanged uneasy glances.

Oxlade-Chamberlain spoke next.

"We've been talking about it since the trial."

Bellerín nodded.

"We feel pretty responsible."

Leah looked genuinely surprised.

"Oh…"

Giroud continued.

"So we wanted to say sorry."

He gestured slightly toward Francesco.

"We dragged him out that night."

Robertson sighed.

"And then that whole situation happened."

Walker added,

"If we just stayed home like normal people…"

Sánchez shrugged.

"This would never have started."

For a moment the front doorway fell quiet.

Leah looked at each of them.

Six professional footballers standing awkwardly on the front steps like kids apologizing to a teacher.

Francesco crossed his arms and sighed.

"You guys are ridiculous."

They all looked at him.

He shook his head.

"You didn't cause anything."

Giroud raised an eyebrow.

"We didn't?"

"No."

Francesco leaned casually against the doorframe.

"Sofia made her own decisions."

Robertson scratched his head.

"Still though…"

Leah suddenly smiled.

The tension melted instantly.

"Guys."

They all looked at her.

"You really don't have to apologize."

Walker frowned slightly.

"Are you sure?"

Leah nodded.

"Yeah."

She glanced briefly at Francesco before continuing.

"He told me everything that happened that night."

Bellerín looked relieved.

"Everything?"

Francesco raised an eyebrow.

"Yes Hector. Everything."

The group chuckled slightly.

Leah crossed her arms comfortably.

"You didn't do anything wrong."

She pointed at Francesco.

"He didn't do anything wrong either."

Then she shrugged.

"Sometimes bad situations just happen."

Robertson let out a breath.

"Well that's good to hear."

Walker grinned slightly.

"So… we're not banned from the house then?"

Leah laughed.

"Not today."

Cheddar barked again as if agreeing.

Giroud looked down at the dog.

"Ah good. The real judge approves."

Francesco stepped aside and gestured toward the interior of the house.

"Well if you're all done apologizing…"

He smirked.

"You might as well come inside."

Sánchez's eyes immediately lit up.

"Breakfast?"

Leah laughed.

"There's still some food left."

Walker clapped his hands together.

"Brilliant."

Robertson grinned.

"Road trip reward."

One by one, the players stepped inside the mansion.

Their voices quickly filled the once-quiet living room.

Bellerín immediately stopped in the middle of the room and looked around in amazement.

"Okay seriously…"

He turned slowly.

"This place is insane."

Walker flopped onto the couch dramatically.

"I call this seat."

Robertson followed him and dropped into a chair.

Giroud walked toward the kitchen area, examining the breakfast plates.

"Ah yes."

He nodded approvingly.

"Proper food."

Sánchez crouched down to pet Cheddar, who had already decided he liked the visitors.

Within seconds the calm peaceful house transformed into something else entirely.

Laughter.

Voices.

Teammates teasing each other.

Francesco leaned against the wall for a moment and watched the scene unfold.

Then he glanced at Leah.

She was smiling.

"See?"

She whispered.

"You didn't need to isolate yourself."

Francesco chuckled quietly.

"Yeah."

He watched his teammates filling the room with noise.

The tension of the past days had finally faded.

For the first time since everything happened, it felt like life was truly moving forward again.
