Chapter 13 - CHAPTER 13 KŌYŌ-RYŪ: THE ANCIENT HARMONY.

Akira's Command to Ryugi

Early morning light stretched across Hoshizuro as Akira rushed to Ryugi's house.

Ryugi opened the door, still half-asleep.

"Akira? What's wrong?"

Akira's tone was sharp and urgent.

"Ryugi… listen carefully. Something happened last night. The Shinrai know about the scarf, the sword… and Rina's Shinseiki bloodline."

Ryugi's eyes widened.

"What?!"

"They came searching for her," Akira continued. "From now on, you guard Rina strictly. Don't leave her alone. Not even for a moment."

Ryugi clenched his fists.

"I'll protect her. You can count on me."

Akira nodded and turned away.

"I'm going to Master Shinoda. We need strength to survive what's coming."

---

Journey to Master Shinoda

Akira climbed the mountain paths until he reached the secluded dojo hidden among ancient cedars.

Master Shinoda stood waiting.

"You carry fear, Akira," he said quietly. "Speak your truth."

Akira bowed deeply.

"Kageyama wants Rina. His Shinrai attacked last night. Akimitsu is already in the Bamboo Forest, but Shinrai forces are there too. They want Rina for a ritual connected to the Shinseiki bloodline."

Shinoda's eyes sharpened.

"So the old curse begins again."

"Master… train me. I must become strong enough to protect her."

Shinoda turned away.

"Follow."

---

Training Begins — Seiryū-Ryū

The two entered a vast clearing surrounded by swaying bamboo.

"Seiryū-Ryū," Shinoda said, "is the art of the Azure Dragon — flowing, aware, bound to nature."

Akira began immediately.

Kokoro no Kaze — Heart's Wind

He sensed the wind around him…

Every shift, every whisper.

His steps grew lighter.

Ryūjin no Iki — Dragon God's Breath

He learned to gather his ki into every breath.

The air quivered as his power rose.

"Good," Shinoda said, "but your heart is divided. Fear blocks your balance."

Akira bowed his head.

"Then I failed."

"Not failed," Shinoda said, "but Seiryū-Ryū is not your destined path."

---

Training Continues — Days Passing

Time passed.

Morning mist.

Afternoon sun.

Night winds.

Akira trained without break.

His clothes tore.

His muscles burned.

His spirit sharpened.

Every day blended into the next.

But he continued.

Each sunrise brought new discipline.

Each sunset pushed him to his limit.

Master Shinoda watched silently as Akira attacked, fell, rose, and attacked again.

---

Kōyō-Ryū — The Ancient Harmony

One evening, as the sun dipped behind the mountains, Shinoda spoke.

"Akira… I will teach you an older art. Kōyō-Ryū — the path of harmony between all forces."

Akira nodded.

"I'm ready."

In-yō — Balance of Opposites

Light and shadow.

Calm and fury.

Akira learned to hold them all.

Gō-riki — Five Powers Alignment

His strikes aligned with earth, wind, flame, water, and void.

Shin-shin — Unity of Mind and Body

No wasted motion.

No scattered thought.

Only purpose.

Day after day, night after night, Akira trained until the forest itself seemed to move with him.

Finally, Shinoda spoke with rare pride.

"Akira… your balance is complete. You wield Kōyō-Ryū truly."

Akira opened his eyes — calm, sharp, powerful.

"I'll protect her. No matter what."

---

Danger at Hoshizuro — Ryugi's Stand

While Akira trained in the mountains…

Back in Hoshizuro, night fell quietly.

Ryugi stayed close to Rina, watching every corner, every shadow.

Suddenly—

CRACK—!

A window shattered.

Dark silhouettes entered — Shinrai assassins, far stronger than before.

"Get the girl," one growled.

Ryugi stepped in front of Rina, trembling but refusing to move.

"You want her… you go through me!"

A Shinrai lunged.

Ryugi blocked with a wooden pole, barely holding the strike.

Another came.

And another.

Ryugi's arms shook.

Blood ran down his cheek.

But he refused to fall.

Rina cried out,

"Ryugi, stop! You'll get hurt!"

Ryugi shouted back,

"As long as I'm alive—no one touches you!"

A Shinrai prepared a killing blow—

---

Akira Arrives

A sudden gust slammed into the assassins.

Wind spiraled violently.

Leaves sliced through the air.

The ground cracked beneath a powerful step.

Akira appeared, cloaked in the aura of Kōyō-Ryū.

"Step away from them," he said, voice low and deadly.

The Shinrai froze.

Akira's blade gleamed.

"You dared lay a hand on my family…"

The air around him shook with newfound force.

"Now face me."

Rina ran to him, tears streaming.

"Akira!"

He held her close, eyes still locked on the enemies.

"You're safe now."

Behind him, Ryugi collapsed to his knees, exhausted but alive.

Akira's gaze sharpened.

Kageyama's shadow loomed closer than ever.

This battle… was only the beginning.

To be continued.
