Jason, who had successfully deceived Robin, reclined on the beach chair with a newfound sense of peace. He casually pulled out a pair of sunglasses from somewhere and put them on, but they didn't quite fit his comfort. Without hesitation, he reached out and pulled Robin into his arms, finally feeling at ease.
Meanwhile, Sanji, lying on the deck of the Going Merry, pounded the floor in frustration.
"Why can't it be me? How could this happen?"
"Alright, alright! I've heard you say that a thousand times! Let's get moving already!" someone responded, trying to get Sanji back on track.
Later that evening, the crew anchored the ship and threw a party at sea.
"Cheers to Jason joining us as our new partner!"
Jason downed a glass of juice in one gulp before turning to feed Robin. Zoro approached, holding a glass of wine.
"Jason! Now that you've got some free time, how about teaching us Haki?"
Zoro was always eager to grow stronger, with his obsession for becoming a famous swordsman driving him.
Jason paused for a moment, staring at Zoro.
"Can't you see I'm busy with Robin here? You've got no sense at all, kid. You're so dead!"
"You're really impatient, aren't you?"
"Of course! I can't afford to waste a single moment in getting stronger!"
"Fine, we'll talk tomorrow. Let's drink today!"
"What? You're drinking juice, though!"
"Doesn't matter! Hahaha!"
The next morning, the two ships arrived at an island that looked like a giant pineapple, complete with pineapple-like fruits growing everywhere. After drawing lots, Chopper stayed behind on the ship to keep watch, while the rest of the crew went ashore to gather supplies.
Jason and Robin, however, were still asleep, so Nami didn't even bother preparing anything for them. She knew better than to count on those two for work.
When Jason finally woke up feeling refreshed, he stretched and stepped out onto the deck of the Going Merry. He noticed Chopper, who was putting on a one-man show atop the ship's observation deck.
"Hey! Chopper, what are you doing up there?"
"Ah!!!" Chopper, startled by Jason, fell from the top with a loud crash. After getting up, he quickly explained the situation to Jason before retreating to his room.
Jason looked around, grabbed a stick that resembled a baseball bat, and jumped off the ship, heading towards the forest.
"Jason, where are you going?" Robin called after him.
"I'm going to help them practice Haki!" Jason replied, grinning mischievously as he ran into the forest, stick in hand.
Robin sighed and slapped her forehead. "You don't look like a teacher at all! You look more like a thug out to cause trouble!"
Jason snuck through the forest, heading directly towards the noisiest area. After all, that's where Luffy was bound to be. Sure enough, he soon found Luffy up in a tree, mimicking a monkey's movements. The two were communicating so well it was almost as if they were family.
Jason silently gave Luffy a thumbs up. You're really something.
Then, with a bizarre gesture, Jason poked Luffy's back, sending him flying with a swing of his stick. Luffy was having fun with the monkey when suddenly everything went black, and he found himself wedged in a crack between some rocks.
It took Luffy a while to pull himself free. He sat on the ground, bewildered.
"It hurts, it hurts! What just happened? I was playing with a monkey, and then..."
"Hey, Luffy!" Jason called out.
"Ah? Jason, what are you doing here?"
Luffy looked up to see Jason standing there, holding a wooden stick.
"By the way, did you see what happened? How did I end up here?"
"Yeah, I hit you."
"Ah? So it was you?"
"Yes, this is part of your Haki training. From now on, I'm going to ambush you at random times until you learn to dodge!"
"Oh! Got it! Let me think about it..."
Luffy poked his temple with one finger, his face turning red as he tried to concentrate.
"Hmm - um - oh! Souga! So you're helping me train?"
Luffy punched his palm, finally understanding.
Jason stared at him in disbelief.
You're not even listening to yourself, are you? After all that thinking, you finally figured it out? This kid is hopeless. Maybe it's time for Dragon to consider another son.
Jason took a deep breath to calm himself.
"Yes, that's right. Do you want to learn?"
"Of course!"
"Alright, get ready then!"
After about half an hour of clamor, the monkeys in the area were so terrified that they fled. Jason walked away from the monkey territory, feeling quite pleased with himself. Luffy, on the other hand, was left lying on the ground with a bruised face, one tooth even missing.
Meanwhile, Nami and Sanji were surveying the island. Sanji's heart-shaped eyes were still fixed on Nami, his eyebrows taking the shape of hearts as well.
Jason snuck up behind the two and, with the same method, sent Sanji flying off a cliff with a swing of his stick. When he landed below, he startled a few birds.
"Oh, this is bad. He probably won't be climbing up for a while! This spot isn't great... Maybe next time I should hide! Nami? What are you doing?"
Jason ducked just in time to avoid a punch, turning to see Nami, her shark-like teeth bared, eyes glowing red as she roared at him:
"Jason! You'd better have a good explanation! We're busy mapping out the island, and you just sent Sanji tumbling down a cliff!"
"Oh! My bad, I'm just helping them train! I'll be more careful next time! Just wait here for him to climb back up. I'll be going now!"
"Don't let me see you again today, you jerk!"
Seeing Nami's anger, Jason decided it was best to avoid further confrontation. He set off to find Zoro next. Jason hadn't forgotten how Zoro had interrupted his sweet moment with Robin earlier. He was determined to make Zoro pay for that.
At that moment, Zoro was still buried in a pile of pineapples, completely unaware of the miserable fate that awaited him...
Later that night, by the beach, everyone sat around a campfire. Everyone who had ventured into the forest, except for Sanji and Nami, was bruised and swollen, even Usopp. After this ordeal, Usopp and Chopper's fear of Jason deepened considerably.
When Luffy and the others returned, they almost gave Nami a heart attack. She initially thought they had been trampled by a gorilla, but then she remembered Sanji's earlier mishap and realized it was all Jason's doing.
"Ahem! Today's training was quite productive. From now on, I'll be ambushing you at random times as part of your Haki training!"
Jason was very pleased with the day's work. He had enjoyed himself thoroughly. Eat, sleep, and beat up Luffy—that was the life! Of course, there were other ways to teach, like how Rayleigh had taught Luffy by starting with the theory of Haki before moving on to the basics. That was probably the best way to learn.
But Jason wasn't interested in spending too much time teaching. He wanted to enjoy his sweet moments with Robin. The crew would eventually learn through daily beatings, though it would take longer. Kaido might not agree with me, but who cares?
"What! We're the only ones getting beaten up! How is this training?"
"Yeah! My face still hurts!"
"I have told you how Haki training could be fatal!"
Jason spread his hands.
"╮( •́ω•̀ )╭ This is how you practice Haki!"
"Just focus on feeling the flow of the surrounding aura and the Haki on my stick when I attack. One day you'll be able to dodge it! If you don't believe me, ask Robin!"
The crew turned to Robin, who was calmly sipping her coffee. Without even looking up, she confirmed Jason's statement.
"Well, although it's a bit different, it's true. It really could be deadly~"
"Hey! That's terrifying! I'm just the ship's doctor! My job is to heal, not to learn Haki!"
Chopper was easily spooked. He jumped up and clung to Nami's leg, tears streaming down his face. Nami, however, remained relatively calm.
"Hmm, I'm not learning it either! Luffy and the others can learn it. If they know how, they can protect us! Oh, by the way, you said it's a bit different, what's the difference?"
"Well, I haven't been injured. Jason always stops just before hitting me!"
Everyone:???
Jason:???
Damn it, Robin! You threw me under the bus!
"Nani!? You beast!"
"Wait a minute! Then why do you say you almost die every time?" Nami wasn't particularly angry, but she caught onto an important detail and quickly pressed Robin for answers.
"If you get hit, won't it hurt like hell?"
Everyone:...
Jason's clever mind started working overtime. He wasn't worried about the crew ganging up on him—even if they all attacked at once, they wouldn't stand a chance. Instead, he was thinking of how to trick them into letting him continue the beatings. It felt so satisfying to whack them with a stick!
"Ahem! Well, Robin is a girl, after all. You guys are different. Besides, that happened when she was a child! Aren't you too old to be afraid of a little pain?
If we take it easy, the training effect will be much smaller. It took Robin over ten years to master it! Can you wait that long? Or do you want to be outdone by a girl?"
As he spoke, Jason winked at Robin frantically. This time, Robin didn't expose him, instead nodding in agreement. In truth, she had learned it in about three years, similar to Bellemere.
"How can I be compared to a girl?"
"Stop looking down on people, you bastard!"
"Come on! I'm not afraid at all!"
The three main fighters were all fired up. Only Usopp huddled in the corner, whispering through his tears, "Calm down! You're really going to get beaten if you keep this up!"
Jason turned his head away with a smug expression: ( ́◞ิ『◟ิ‵) "The three of them together can't come up with a single good idea! Fight me? Please."
Only Robin noticed his smug look, covered her mouth, and snickered, speechless. His little sense of mischief had been satisfied. It was payback for the punishment he'd given her when forcing her to learn Haki. Now, Jason had to appease her.
As for Luffy and the others, well, it's both a blessing and a curse!
...
The next few days were rather uneventful. Of course, "uneventful" didn't include Jason. With Robin by his side and Luffy and the others to beat up daily, life couldn't get any better!
During that time, Jason and the others never left the ship, but Luffy and his crew landed on an island after passing through a fog. They had no idea why they went there and didn't return until evening!
After a night's rest, they set sail again.
Now, the two ships had arrived at a place called Lulujia Island. The last time they docked, the two ships almost collided with each other. However, Jason's quick reflexes saved them from that fate.
This time, Jason was well prepared. He ran to the Going Merry, grabbed Luffy, and placed him between the two ships. Luffy looked at the approaching ship with a horrified expression, struggling frantically but unable to break free from Jason's grip.
"Gomu Gomu no Fusen!"
The ship crashed into Luffy, who had transformed into a balloon, and bounced back.
"Phew~ That was close! What the hell, Jason, what are you doing?!"
Luffy let out a sigh of relief and turned around to accuse Jason loudly.
Jason: ( ¬ ก ¬ ) "Ahem~ The captain is so useful!"
Ignoring Luffy's complaints, Robin burst out laughing. Who else could come up with such a crazy idea?
After docking the ship, Jason and Robin saw a market nearby and decided to explore. They bought some beautiful clothes for Robin and restocked the ship's supplies before heading back.
Jason was sunbathing when he heard Luffy and the others returning noisily. He didn't pay much attention, assuming they had finished shopping and were preparing to leave.
Then, the Merry began to move in another direction, eventually sailing into a colorful mist.
The changes in the surrounding environment made Jason alert, and he immediately sat up from his beach chair and joined Robin on the Merry. She was already there.
"Well, Jason, you've finally decided to get up! You're a lazy pig who lies down whenever you get the chance!"
Jason's expression froze at Robin's words. Was this a complaint from his wife? He pretended not to hear it.
"Where are we? What a strange place."
Before Robin could respond, an old man nearby spoke up.
"Eps Consad!"
"Huh? What did you say?"
Robin tugged at Jason's ear.
Over the years, she'd gotten used to his odd vocabulary but still felt the need to explain things to him.
Unexpectedly, Jason ran back and lay down again after hearing the explanation! This time, he was done for.
Since the memory didn't strike him, it probably wasn't an important plot point!
However, he didn't lie down for long before Robin grabbed his ear and forced him to get up.
"What are you doing, baby Robin? You know we can definitely get out later. Wouldn't it be nice to just lie down and fish with me?"
Robin was a bit exasperated. Jason was good at everything, but when he was lazy, he could give even the calmest person a headache.
"Even so, you shouldn't lie down all the time. Let's figure out a solution together!"
"Alright, alright~ I'll do whatever my baby Robin says!"
But no matter how hard they tried, they couldn't find a way out of the colorful mist, and they kept going in circles! Luffy was running around the map and had already disappeared, taking a little kid with him. Jason used the opportunity to stash away a lot of jewelry on the ship.
Meanwhile, outside, Nami was preparing to let Chopper hold one end of the rope while she went in to find Luffy and the others. In the end, she successfully located the Merry.
Jason: "I told you we'd get out!" He then gave Robin a playful wink, but Robin turned away, ignoring him.
After getting a grasp on the situation, everyone agreed that Luffy would be fine and decided to leave first. The Straw Hats had an unshakable faith in Luffy.
But just as they were about to leave, a pirate named Ian kidnapped the little kid and threatened Nami, demanding she hand over the life-saving rope. Of course, Nami refused, saying the life or death of a stranger was none of her concern.
But then another little girl named Isoka pulled out a dagger and pressed it against Nami's neck.
"Please do as he says! I don't want to lose another friend!"
Jason:???
At lightning speed, Jason smacked the little girl away with a resounding slap.
"Where did this brat come from? So annoying! Hey! Whoever you are, if you want to kill him, just do it already! Then, go die yourself. Thank you!"
Jason picked his nose with an impatient look, shocking everyone around him.
He didn't remember this part, so it must've been something he imagined. He'd had enough of that little girl anyway! Why should he listen to her?
He only cared about the safety of those around him, especially Robin! He felt that things would go better if he couldn't understand the situation like this.
"Jason... that's too much! You actually hit a child!"
"Yeah! Right!"
"He looks like a villain picking his nose. He's not allowed to sleep in the bed tonight!"
Jason:???
"Weren't you planning to take action too? I just couldn't hold back any longer! And now I'm the one to blame? And for the record, that little girl is over 50 years old!"
He didn't care about the rest because what's the big deal about picking your nose and not being allowed to sleep in bed? This punishment was too harsh! Baby Robin, you've changed; you weren't like this before!
