Chapter 702: The Plan to Subdue the Yuchang Family, A Familiar Face
After the duel was agreed upon and the Gongshu Family departed, Yuchang Yuan and the others fell into a deep silence.
After a long while, one elder of the Yuchang Family spoke gravely, "Patriarch, do you really intend to go through with that duel against Gongshu Qiu?"
Hearing this, Yuchang Yuan's aged face showed helplessness and sorrow. He sighed, "At this point, what choice do we have left? We can only fight with everything we have.
If I can defeat Gongshu Qiu, our Yuchang Family will at least survive this crisis. After decades of recuperation, perhaps we might even rise again."
The elders exchanged glances and sighed in resignation.
"Let's go back first," Yuchang Yuan said, waving his hand. "Since the Luo Yang branch has already delivered the Blood Fat Cloud Crystal, let's use it to repair the damage to the Tianxuan Treasure Hall."
Yuchang Ran nodded respectfully and led the convoy toward Xiongbing City.
"Oh? So the Yuchang Family and Gongshu Family are going to duel?"
In the convoy, Mo Yu muttered to himself. Hearing that Yuchang Yuan had accepted Gongshu Zan's challenge, he could tell the Yuchang Family was in great danger—forced to the brink of extinction.
He still remembered well the Tianxuan Treasure Hall he had encountered back on the Dou Qi Continent. Back then, that ancient treasure had given him the Emperor-grade embryo that allowed his Divine Thunder Spear to evolve into an Emperor Weapon. With it, he struck down Hun Tiandi during the Three Emperors Battle and saved the world.
That grace had never left his heart, and he had planned to repay it upon arriving in the Great Thousand World.
Who could have imagined that on his first step into this world, fate would bring him face to face with the Yuchang Family, and that Yuchang Wan'er's assistance to him would be such a stroke of destiny.
Lost in thought, Mo Yu followed the convoy closer to Xiongbing City—one of the most famed cities on the continent.
Seeing the city appear in the distance, the Yuchang clansmen all seemed to breathe a sigh of relief. Mo Yu could tell this must be the Yuchang Family's domain.
"Brother Mo Yu, we've arrived at Xiongbing City. This is our family's territory. You're safe here now," Yuchang Wan'er murmured softly. "Find a chance to slip away later… I don't want you caught in this."
From what had happened earlier, Wan'er knew the Gongshu Family would stop at nothing, and war could break out at any moment. Her kind nature couldn't bear seeing Mo Yu dragged into their family feud.
Mo Yu smiled gently and shook his head. "Don't worry, Wan'er. I have my own plans."
Wan'er hesitated, puzzled, but seeing the calm mystery in his eyes, she let the matter rest.
Within Xiongbing City, the Yuchang Family's dominance was clear from the reverence shown by every guard they passed.
As the convoy entered the bustling city, the roar of the crowd enveloped them. Mo Yu, who had been traveling through wilderness for days, found the sudden energy overwhelming.
The city's immense scale impressed him. Its streets were wide and organized, its atmosphere grand and lively. In the center of this metropolis stood the Yuchang Family estate—the heart of Xiongbing City and seat of one of the continent's three great families.
After nearly half an hour of travel through the streets, the convoy finally stopped before a vast and luxurious manor. Seeing their patriarch's return, the guards quickly lifted their defenses and opened the gate.
Inside, the convoy split apart. Yuchang Ran led several members to offload the glowing crimson Blood Fat Cloud Crystal—its luster like gemstones—before following the top elders toward the inner courtyard. The branch guards were guided toward the rear to rest.
Mo Yu narrowed his eyes slightly. Sending Wan'er with the others to rest, he quietly joined Yuchang Ran's group heading toward the heart of the manor.
He could feel the family's despair and, unknowingly, dark thoughts began to form.
Since fate had brought him to the Yuchang Family, why not see it through? If he could win them over, this might be his first firm foothold in the Great Thousand World.
Inside the council hall, the atmosphere was tense. Upon returning, Yuchang Yuan gathered the family's top members and explained about the duel.
The hall erupted in disbelief.
"Patriarch! If Gongshu Qiu dares to call for a duel, does that mean he's really advanced to Eighth-Grade Supreme?"
"Why don't we hire a Ninth-Grade Supreme from another plane of the Great Thousand World? Money can solve a lot."
"Nonsense! Do you have any idea how much that would cost? We'd have to sell the entire Yuchang Family to pay for one move!"
"Then what else can we do? Who among us can face Gongshu Qiu?"
"Even if we die, we must not bow to them! I would rather perish than see our ancestors' honor trampled!"
"Patriarch…"
The meeting dissolved into chaos. Men shouted over each other, the once-majestic hall echoing like a market square. Tension, fear, and frustration filled the air.
In one corner, Mo Yu watched and shook his head. No wonder the family was in decline. Yuchang Yuan was aged and no longer managed affairs, while the rest bickered like children without a unifying leader.
Yuchang Ran also noticed Mo Yu's presence. Her brows furrowed slightly—this was the Yuchang Family's main council hall, a place even she only entered by chance while escorting the Blood Fat Cloud Crystal. To see an outsider here was shocking.
She wanted to warn him, but before she could, Yuchang Yuan slammed his palm down on the table.
"Enough!"
His aged but commanding voice boomed through the chamber.
"Do you fools not see the danger we're in? The Gongshu Family could crush us any day now! Save your squabbling!"
The hall instantly fell silent. Despite his age, Yuchang Yuan's authority still carried weight.
Once order was restored, he sighed deeply and turned his gaze toward a white-haired elder beside him. "Grand Elder, what are your thoughts on this duel?"
The elder leaned on his staff, furrowing his brow. "Patriarch, if I understand Gongshu Qiu's temperament, he wouldn't issue such a challenge unless he's already broken through to Eighth-Grade Supreme. The Gongshu Family's confidence surely comes from that.
Unless we can find an Eighth or Ninth-Grade Supreme to counter him, defeat is inevitable. By then, surrender or annihilation will be our only choices."
By the end, the Grand Elder's tone grew bitter. Their opponents had the Blood God Clan backing them, along with their famed mechanical beasts. War would mean certain doom.
Yuchang Yuan sighed again. "Has it really come to this…?" He smiled wryly. Once, the Yuchang Family was renowned across the Ten-Thousand Armaments Continent. Now, they faced extinction. The law of the Great Thousand World was cruel—only the strong survived.
Seeking help from high-ranked Supremes was impossible. The cost alone was enormous, and none would risk offending the Blood God Clan for some meager reward.
"Patriarch," one elder offered, "perhaps the Tianxuan Treasure Hall's artifact spirit might have an idea. It once traveled widely with the Young Master across the Great Thousand World and may have some wisdom to offer."
Yuchang Yuan hesitated, then nodded reluctantly. "Very well. Let's awaken the Tianxuan Treasure Hall's spirit. The Blood Fat Cloud Crystal can also repair its damage."
"Understood."
Several elders stepped forward, forming seals with both hands. Spiritual power surged outward, converging above the hall. Soon, golden light bloomed, intertwining to form a magnificent temple phantom. Then, the temple shimmered, and a spectral image of an old man appeared in midair.
The ancient spirit of the Tianxuan Treasure Hall bowed respectfully. "Patriarch."
As he raised his head to speak, his eyes suddenly flickered. His gaze shifted sharply toward a shadowed corner of the hall, locking on a familiar figure.
Even with all his wisdom, the Tianxuan Artifact Spirit could scarcely believe his eyes.
Mo Yu sighed softly and shook his head with a faint smile. He knew the spirit had recognized him—otherwise, it wouldn't have turned so suddenly.
His reaction immediately drew everyone's attention. The Tianxuan Treasure Hall's spirit was no ordinary tool but a sentient guardian of their clan's founding ancestor—his status rivaled even the patriarch's.
Thus, when it stared fixedly into the corner, curiosity spread like wildfire among the elders. Following its gaze, they saw a handsome young stranger.
The elders frowned. Clearly, this outsider had no right to be here.
Yuchang Ran's face drained of color. The Tianxuan spirit's perception was too sharp—it had almost instantly detected Mo Yu. She bit her lip, ready to step forward and take the blame, when the spirit suddenly spoke again.
With the warmth of reunion in his ancient voice, he said slowly,
"Little friend Mo Yu, it has been a long time since our last meeting. I didn't expect you would truly come from the Dou Qi Continent… to my homeland in the Great Thousand World."
