Unfortunately, even if they cast aside life and death and resolved to die together, it was not enough to close the massive gap in strength. As soon as they made a move, their farming tools were sent flying, blood gleamed, and amid the harrowing screams, several villagers fell into pools of blood.
"Hahahaha, with just this bit of strength, you dare to fight us to the death." A crowd of bandits laughed mockingly.
Though they too came from impoverished backgrounds, the years of licking blood off the blade had long stripped them of any empathy.
The injured villagers lay in the blood, wailing voicelessly, their faces contorted in pain. Seeing their pitiful state, the bandits laughed even more recklessly.
The reason these people could still keep their lives wasn't that they had any passing ability, but rather because the bandits showed mercy. Of course, it wasn't out of kindness; it was this heartless slaughter that provided them with a sense of pleasure.
