"That is more dangerous?"
"Very."
He looked thoughtful.
Tang Li Yue folded her arms. "People who are greedy for food can be managed with ration control. People who are greedy for influence will try to plant roots. And I hate roots. The last tree that tried something with me wasted gasoline."
Lu Chengran seemed to remember the mutated tree incident.
His expression turned faintly helpless.
"Still angry about that?"
"My fuel was innocent."
"Of course."
"And my RV was scratched."
"I remember."
"You said you would compensate me."
"I also remember."
Tang Li Yue nodded, satisfied. "Good. A man should honor his debts."
Lu Chengran glanced toward her hand.
The old wound was long healed, but his eyes still went there whenever strange matters involving her blood were mentioned. Tang Li Yue noticed. Of course she did. She simply pretended not to because she was generous enough not to poke every sore spot.
At least not immediately.
