However, as we got closer to the building, I remembered one thing I had forgotten. I only realized it when the boss monster flapped its wings again and charged toward us. Its eyes locked on me.
"I don't think we can buy them time," Terrius said behind me. "If we run away now, we'll only tire ourselves out without knowing how long we need to keep this up," he added.
We stopped running and exchanged glances. Terrius nodded as if he understood my thoughts.
"We can do this, Jade." He looked up at the monster. "It's weakened," then back to me, "and we've gotten stronger."
His eyes shone with determination. I quickly glanced at the mansion, but there was still no sign of the two captains or the clown.
Terrius must have sensed my hesitation, because he said, "There's always an hour before the exit disappears. That's plenty of time to find them."
An hour. I wanted to fight Mammon. I wanted to be the one who defeated him.
"Jade!"
