A pale face appeared directly against his own.
Michael's heart nearly jumped out of his chest.
The ghost had practically flown into him. Her translucent body pressed against his front while both hands rested on his shoulders. Her silver eyes were wider than usual, and there was none of the lazy calm she normally carried.
Michael recovered quickly.
"What happened?"
The ghost didn't immediately answer. Her head turned sharply toward one direction. Then another. Her spiritual perception seemed to sweep across the surrounding region repeatedly, but the expression on her face only became more confused.
"I don't know."
Michael's brows furrowed.
"You don't know?"
