Chapter 137 - Antidote

She bit her lower lip. Avery didn't want to think about the worst scenario Alex had paid Albert for. She knew her husband didn't marry her with clean hands, but at least he could've told her why he made those transactions with Albert and why his name was in the file.

She wiped her tears with the sleeve of her cardigan and clicked on the next file Joshua had sent.

The blueprint of the hospital. This was going to be Albert's nightmare.

Max's funeral was scheduled by Hannah. She hasn't seen her nephew for a while, so she had to call him to her office.

"I don't have time for something like this, aunty."

"We all don't. But Max was a member of this family, and he needs to be buried properly."

"Just toss his head in the ocean. Nobody cares."

Hannah rolled her eyes.

"Emeralde cares. And Jolly. Even if she's mentally unstable, she needs to send her son a goodbye."

Alex pulled the chair back and nodded.

He looked at the garden through the window with dark circles bruising the skin beneath his eyes.

" I'd get someone to arrange the funeral."

Before he could twist the door handle, Hannah spoke.

"And get some rest, Alex. You look bad. What is going on between you and your wife?"

He fists clenched beside him.

Wife.

The one he didn't know where she was.

Or the imposter.

He took in a deep breath and looked at Hannah on the side of his shoulder.

"We're good, aunty."

The door slammed on the wall as he made his way out.

His eyes scanned the house as the butler took his coat.

"Where is everyone?"

The butler cleared his throat and folded the coat.

"If you're talking about the maids and bodyguards, then they're dead," Katherine said while flipping the pages of her magazine.

He didn't need anyone to tell him who killed them.

Albert's eye twitched as he thought of the troubles he'd been put in because of his useless son.

He pulled his gun from his waist and stomped towards Charles' room.

"What are you doing?" Katherine asked as she followed her husband.

Albert kicked the door with his leg. Before Charles could turn his wheelchair, bullets flew in the air and into his head.

Katherine's eyes widened.

Her son

"What have you done?" Katherine rushed in front of him.

Albert blew the air from the magazine and pocketed his gun.

"He became inconvenient."

Katherine turned to look at her son, who was slumped in his wheelchair, and the countless bodies in his room.

Then she gagged

"Disgusting."
