After anonymously mailing the notebook to the Mauville City League Branch, the time was already close to 7 a.m. Having finished that matter, Sato went to a well-known breakfast shop nearby to settle breakfast for himself and his Pokémon.
Afterward, without stopping, he mounted his off-road bicycle and headed toward Slateport City.
Around half a day later, Sato successfully returned to Slateport.
Upon arriving, he did not immediately go to the League Branch to submit his promotion mission. Instead, familiar with the route, he first made a trip to Slateport's black market. Through an underground bank there, he cashed the anonymous bank cards he had taken from the Team Magma members.
As expected, aside from Homura, the other Team Magma members were practically broke. After deducting handling fees, those cards only netted him 15 million PokeDollars.
However, the five mid-grade Fire Stones sold at a very good price—each averaging 2 million PokeDollars.
As for the Seviper he had rescued once again, it was also in high demand. After a round of bargaining and wrangling, Sato successfully obtained 9 million PokeDollars from a Pokémon smuggler.
With that, Sato's available funds swelled once more, reaching over 64 million PokeDollars.
Unfortunately, before he could even "warm" the money in his pocket, Takeda Jiro sent him a message requesting financial support. Upon seeing it, Sato immediately transferred 50 million PokeDollars.
It was worth mentioning that after receiving Sato's initial capital injection, Takeda Jiro's fundraising had gone much more smoothly—especially after Steven personally invested 500 million PokeDollars, instantly giving Takeda tremendous financial backing.
However, as a result, Sato's shareholding had been diluted significantly, dropping from 25% to 15%.
In truth, Takeda Jiro was no longer short on funds. The reason he asked Sato to invest more was to repay him for bringing in Steven as a major benefactor.
Sato understood this clearly and did not hesitate to reinvest. After all, Takeda's Day Care would certainly be profitable in the future—the larger his equity share, the greater his eventual returns.
After injecting another 50 million PokeDollars, Sato's stake returned to 20%, making him the second-largest shareholder after Steven.
"Money really flows like water… I've got just over 3 million left. I'll have to be frugal for a while."
Walking out of the black market, Sato felt mentally exhausted. He had just purchased two useful TMs there, nearly draining his remaining funds.
The two newly acquired TMs were Dark Pulse and Shadow Ball. The former cost 8 million, the latter 3 million. They were learned by Blastoise and Kadabra respectively.
After exchanging resources at the black market, Sato immediately headed to the Slateport League Branch.
A little over ten minutes later, he emerged holding a brand-new League identification card. From that moment onward, his identity as Tyler was officially that of a League member.
Perhaps because he had helped resolve Mauville City's power crisis during the mission, the submission process went extremely smoothly. The Officer Jenny who had assigned his promotion task even specifically praised him.
Sato had successfully advanced to become a League Outer Trainer. In high spirits, he remained low-key, only informing Phil, Wattson, Takeda Jiro, and Steven—those closest to the Tyler identity.
At this time, Phil had already returned to his small village in Dewford Town. He was the first to send congratulations upon receiving the news, followed by Wattson and Takeda Jiro. Last was Steven, the League Champion, who had recently been swamped with work due to the consequences of his own actions.
"Excellent. The journey to collect Gym Badges finally begins. I've decided—my first badge will be Wattson's."
At around 5 p.m., Sato left a restaurant with his well-fed Pokémon. Looking in the direction of Mauville City, he spoke with enthusiasm.
However, just as he turned toward the nearby Pokémon Center, a blonde woman wearing a sunhat, sunglasses, and a mask—covering most of her face—came sprinting down the street toward him.
Behind her, a crowd wielding autograph pens, paper, microphones, and cameras chased wildly, their faces filled with fanatic excitement.
The blonde woman ran extremely fast. With long legs measuring well over a meter, she covered ground in the blink of an eye. Within moments, she was less than a meter from Sato, about to collide with him as he stepped out of the restaurant.
Sato's reaction speed was excellent. In a fraction of a second, he assessed the situation—this blonde woman was most likely a famous celebrity who had been recognized despite her disguise and was now being pursued by fans or reporters.
"I'll help you this once."
Though he had no idea who she was, Sato knew that helping her out would likely benefit him. Perhaps he might even gain a powerful connection.
As she was about to crash into him, he swiftly grabbed her hand. A blue glint flashed in his eyes, and he used Teleport, vanishing from the spot with her instantly.
As the Tyler identity encountered increasingly powerful figures—and with the presence of Kadabra, a rare Psychic-type Pokémon—Sato's identity as a Psychic was becoming difficult to conceal.
In fact, when he met Steven, Sato already knew that Steven's powerful Claydol had seen through him. Naturally, Steven must have realized Sato was a Psychic.
So now, Sato no longer felt the need to hide it. When necessary, he would use his powers. After all, a young wild Psychic was someone worth befriending.
As for why Tyler could use psychic powers, the explanation was simple: the once-comatose Tyler regained consciousness after awakening psychic abilities. It was the perfect excuse.
When Sato and the blonde woman reappeared, they were already in a deserted alley seven or eight meters away.
Unfortunately, although Sato had done her a favor, the blonde woman did not seem grateful. The moment he helped her escape the pursuing fans and paparazzi, she forcefully shoved him away.
Caught off guard, Sato fell flat onto the ground.
Without a word, the blonde woman hurried out of the alley. In the blink of an eye, she disappeared from Sato's sight.
