Lin Shan hardened his heart and tightened his fists, spoke threateningly, "What do you think you're going to do, Lin Yi? My elder brother Lin Hong is a more powerful genius than you. Don't push your luck protecting this stray."
Lin Yi walked slowly toward Qing Tan, not taking his eyes off Lin Shan. He gently helped his sister up, pulling the thick cloak around her injured arm. The sight of the blood on her elbow caused a flicker of cold, cosmic power to briefly surge in his Dantian, forcing his Force Camouflage to work harder.
'This guy dared to injure her. If it weren't for the same clan and his age, I would have buried him here.'
Lin Yi thought with a chill hidden in his pupil, his mental energy, already mapping every weakness in Lin Shan's posture. 'Still, I need to teach this bastard a lesson that resonates through the main branch, but I must not exceed my stated Sixth Grade strength.'
He looked up at Lin Shan, and his voice dropped to a barely audible whisper, yet it was sharp enough to pierce through the Lin Shan drums.
"Tell me, how do you want to suffer?"
Lin Shan's expression sank, "Don't think, I am afraid of you… I don't believe that you are stronger than that trash Lin Dong."
He hurriedly moved forward after a shout, raising his fist and attacking, while urging his yuan power.
Lin Yi did not move his feet. His hands remained in his sleeves. As the fist approached, he subtly shifted his head a fraction of an inch to the side, allowing the powerful blow to whistle past his ear by a hair's breadth.
Then, with lightning speed, he dropped his shoulder slightly, pivoting his entire body, and his elbow connected with brutal, surgical precision directly on the radial nerve located in the inner bend of Lin Shan's arm.
Crack!
The blow was swift, the effect was immediate and catastrophic. Lin Shan's arm bent down, and the Yuan Power that had been circulating violently through his meridians was violently disrupted.
His momentum carried him forward, forcing him to stumble two steps, his face pale with sudden, debilitating pain.
"Ahhhh… what was that?" Lin Shan roared excruciatingly, clutching his broken arm.
Lin Yi stepped in again, his movement effortless, like wind. He delivered a quick, light kick to the exact point on the back of Lin Shan's knee that housed the nerve cluster, causing the joint to violently seize.
Crack!
Lin Shan's leg buckled. He screamed, his body collapsing onto the ground in a heap of unexpected pain and shame. He could feel unimaginable pain through his arm or his leg.
Lin Yi stepped over his chest, silent and composed, "That's enough for you today. Now, tell your esteemed elder brother, Lin Hong, that from this moment forward, Lin Qing Tan is not to be touched. Not a word, not a glance. If he, or anyone under his command, so much as casts a shadow on her, I will personally ensure that your life in the Lin Family becomes a living hell."
He paused, his eyes narrowing to slits and continued, "Tell him I am a patient person, but my patience runs out when my family is harmed. Do you understand?"
Lin Shan, tears of pain and humiliation streaming down his face, could only manage a choked, terrified nod.
Lin Yi then turned to the two quivering followers. "Take him away and clean this up."
The two boys scrambled forward, fearfully dragging their leader to his feet. They quickly gathered the spilled herb fragments, placing them gently back into the broken jar, their eyes never leaving Lin Yi. They knew they had witnessed something extraordinary.
As they stumbled away, Lin Yi knelt beside Qing Tan and gently wiped the blood from her elbow.
'After this confrontation, Lin Hong will come for revenge. These two brothers are minor characters. Anyway, four days later, during family competition, Lin Dong will reveal his strength which will allow our family to gain some breathing room and the right kind of attention,'
Lin Yi thoughtfully calculating the family reaction, while already planning the next step.
…
Four days later, the annual Lin Clan internal competition commenced. The event was held in the large, stone-paved central arena of the Lin Family territory, usually reserved for large assemblies and public cultivation displays.
The arena was packed. Hundreds of Lin Clan disciples, from the inner and outer branches, filled the stands, buzzing with excitement. Seated in the prominent viewing platform were the highest authorities: Lin Zhentian, the stern Patriarch, flanked by the three most powerful elders: Lin Mang, Lin Ken, and Lin Rong.
Next to the elders sat the current generation's pride: Lin Hong, a powerful young man radiating the Yuan Power of the Seventh Layer, Tempered Body Stage, and his younger cousin, Lin Xia, who was a promising Seventh Stage cultivator as well.
Lin Xiao and Liu Yan stood nervously in the main competitor area, their eyes fixed on their both sons, Lin Dong and Lin Yi stood beside other family children with firm and neutral expressions on their faces.
Although Lin Yi already possesses the true strength out of league of any generation of the Lin family. Lin Dong's small frame also hides the power of Tempered Body, Seventh Stage, a talent that already placed him among the top three in the younger generation.
Lin Zhentian stood up from his seat attracting everyone's attention, then he announced, his voice booming across the arena. "Today is the day we test our struggle and determine the future of the Lin Family! Let the final phase of the competition begin! The test: display your highest mastery of the Penetrating Fist!"
