Every mortal, be it ordinary people or rare rank 5 gu masters, shook with excitement. The immortal confrontation ended in a way that benefited these mortals the most, or so they assumed. After all, Yin Yun returned with Lo Jik and announced he would be leaving his inheritance behind on Tian Ti Mountain! Not only did Lo Jik 'persuade' Yin Yun to leave behind an inheritance, the latter also supported Lo Jik and claimed Fickle Consort Immortal was righteous and willing to repair Tian Ti Mountain wholeheartedly. The inheritance, of course, was not an immortal inheritance. But Yin Yun did leave behind a cloud path true inheritance and further added a few hints about immortal ascension.
This result affected Ju Lin the most. She was already scared for Lo Jik because he was a newly advanced gu immortal. But to think he could actually achieve such a result!
Everyone settled in the town Lo Jik built with a wave of his hand their home. Several mortals did not want to leave Tian Ti Mountain's foot. Not only did they not want to leave, they nearly burst through Hope Palace in excitement, unable to wait any longer to awaken their apertures.
The promise of a free lifebound vital gu and two hundred primeval stones was too much. Ju Lin predicted that this town would expand significantly in the next five years as other mortals would also plan their trips after hearing about this benefit.
After settling things, Ju Lin left Hope Palace and returned to a cave Lo Jik casually constructed on Tian Ti Mountain. The surface of one of the many square-shaped blocks of rock was dug out, its interior fortified using a mortal earth path formation to keep it from breaking down. The cave itself was surrounded by an illusion path formation as Ju Lin stepped inside following Lo Jik's earlier instructions.
"Master!" She called out excitedly, ignoring how the lack of hair made her scalp tingle with a chill. She stepped forward and observed Lo Jik reverently! The cave was simple with no additional furniture. Lo Jik sat on the ground as it is and maintained the temperature of a cauldron. He nodded at her words while cooking the strange soup.
Ju Lin was already quite experienced after entering Lo Jik's mentorship. She identified several rare rank 3 and some rank 4 materials. He casually tossed them inside as a bloody scent filled the cave. The young Ju Lin who had yet to step into the world of cultivation would be disgusted by the odor and take a step back. But in her cultivation journey, Ju Lin fed manure, blood, flesh, and many other things to her gu worm. She experienced even more 'disgusting' events when refining gu worms. Her tolerance to these things were no different from other experienced gu masters and she stayed in her spot, already understanding that Lo Jik was busy with something important.
Only after thirty more minutes did Lo Jik shift. He turned to Ju Lin and smiled.
"You're here. Good." He pointed at the human-sized cauldron. "Get in."
Ju Lin shuddered. She shot the contents bubbling inside the cauldron a nervous glance. It was a viscous, flesh-colored liquid. The bubbles on the surface burst apart with a steaming hiss from some pressure and let out lazily curling steam. Her nose twitched at the scent of the soup.
However, she knew better than to question her master.
Determination flooded her eyes. She casually stripped before Lo Jik. After several years of learning from Lo Jik, she grew out of her crush and also realized her master never once perceived her with any lustful intentions. Earlier, she would have been distraught. Now? She was glad. Ju Lin read many stories about how easily several gu masters preyed on the naïve followers. Her master wasn't one of them. He truly cared for her and taught her with kind intentions.
A master for a day, a father for life!
Ju Lin took in a huge breath before slowly entering the cauldron naked.
*Tsss*
The nails on her toes melted due to extreme temperature as her flesh blistered and fused together. The shocking pain nearly made Ju Lin step back but she gritted and quickly jumped in!
She suddenly shot out of the cauldron with an extremely high-pitched shriek in less than a second!
Lo Jik waved his hand and an invisible pressure forced her back into the bubbling cauldron.
He also controlled the surface of the cauldron and kept the soup from spilling out! There was also something about this pain. Ju Lin wished she fell unconscious, but she didn't. She felt everything! She felt the liquid enter her nostrils and mouth, burning her from inside out. She felt her eyes melt and flow away, and her eyelids fusing shut. Her eardrums didn't even stand a chance. The pain came from the depths of her soul.
Too much!
Too much!
TOO MUCH!
However, Lo Jik was calm. He wouldn't let Ju Lin die from the shock of pain. He would even heal this shock and keep it from having any long-lasting consequence on her cultivation.
This method of refinement was similar to what Lo Jik did before when he masqueraded as Bai Shou.
He was using Ju Lin as a material and targeting the effects of her body refinement!
Refinement path gu masters did not only refine gu worms. They also refined materials.
Similarly, Lo Jik was using Ju Lin as a material.
'The Human Champion Series refine and strengthen the body. Unlike beast strength phantoms which lack the capability of refining the flesh, this strengthening of the body is not incompatible with humans. So, someone who uses this gu worm can display their 100% even without All-Out Effort Gu. But it has advantages and disadvantages. For instance, someone using All-Out Effort Gu to activate a Bandit Monkey phantom will surpass the user of Human Champion Series in terms of upper body strength. After all, most of Bandit Monkey's strength is stored in their upper bodies. While Human Champion Series distributes strength equally. It's tailor-made for humanity alone.'
Lo Jik was extremely clear of these matters. That's why he still used killer moves to increase the number of beast strength phantoms on his body. Earlier, he obtained Flying Bear strength phantom.
'The other aspect of the gu worm is the refinement of body.' Lo Jik hummed. 'Most gu masters would need to remove the effects of earlier body refinement, even if they were strength path gu masters, because the dao marks gained from this Human Champion series' refinement will be different than other body refinement gu worms and conflict with each other.'
'But it's too much of waste to wipe away all these dao marks.'
Lo Jik smiled.
He did not want Ju Lin to do such a thankless task. Instead, he directly refined the dao marks on her body. Once complete, the strength in her body and subsequent body refinement will be as if Ju Lin had spent years developing using rank 1-3 Human Champion Series!
This was a huge advantage.
But this benefit came from a side dish of terrible pain.
'Nothing she cannot handle.' Lo Jik smiled fondly before looking away. He waved his hand and the cave shifted. Another entrance he hid using an illusion path gu worm appeared as he stepped through it, entering a larger cave.
He sat down and started cultivating.
'My body has 2200 strength path dao marks. These dao marks have differences, too. Just their appearance alone is strange. Some are sparse, and some coil together.'
Thinking of this, Lo Jik looked into a peculiar memory. It was like a hologram of his body. On this body glowed several hair-like strands. They were carved on the surface of his body and were either vertical, horizontal, or diagonal. These were all dao marks!
'Some dao marks represent my physique's extreme healing.'
'Some of them represent my stamina regeneration.'
He looked at a particular cluster of dao marks.
'That one is from refining Flying Bear into a beast strength phantom.'
'This cluster indicates the Bandit Giant strength phantom.'
'There are also several dao marks representing my body's endurance and how much strength it can handle.'
'Some dao marks strengthen my sense of smell and eyesight.'
'But all these dao marks contribute to resonance between a gu immortal and their gu worms.'
Lo Jik studied them for a while before furrowing his brows.
'I already deduced another version of Fickle Body Strength. Let's check out its effects.'
Fickle Body Strength was a compound killer move using Fickle Heart Strength as a core alongside Accumulation Gu, allowing Lo Jik to target desolate beast corpses with this killer move.
Earlier, he gained the relevant dao marks of a Flying Bear strength phantom due to this killer move.
Thinking of this, several strength and food path gu worms floated in his first aperture.
The number increased from forty gu worms to a shocking 300!
Lo Jik spent some time activating this killer move. Despite his monstrous attainment, he still needed to practice such complicated killer moves to activate them instantly during fast-paced battles. Most gu immortals preferred simpler killer moves due to this reason. Battles often required one's complete attention, so making an error while activating a killer move was not only possible but also deadly due to subsequent backlash. So, all gu immortals spend days, if not months, practicing their killer moves to activate it instinctively!
Being a cultivation killer move not meant to be seen during battles, Lo Jik took his time activating Fickle Body Strength killer move.
'Earlier, Fickle Body Strength successfully granted me a Flying Bear's strength. But that flying bear had hundreds of dao marks! All these dao marks were lost. The first version of Fickle Body Strength, to maintain its simplicity, focused more on creating the beast strength phantom. Although the killer move is several times more complicated, it should have a better effect.'
The jump from 40 to 300 gu worms indicated an exponential rise of complication in activating the killer move. And Lo Jik was still spending time practicing other killer moves in his inheritances that involved thousands of gu worms! Such killer moves took days to activate.
After a while, a turbulent purple fog spread out with the shining gu worms in the center. This fog moved towards the first of the two desolate beasts Lo Jik obtained from Dark Cloud Immortal, Yin Yun.
Six-Winged Mammoth.
The Six-Winged Mammoth had cloud and wind path dao marks carved on their bodies. The purple cloud swallowed the mammoth whole. It started churning and shaking. White and azure color spread through the fog before taking shape of a trumpeting Mammoth. The six feathered wings on its back were small and exquisite. Meanwhile, the mammoth's tusks gleamed a cold light.
The fog flew out of Lo Jik's strength path blessed land crashed into Lo Jik!
*Boom*
Lo Jik shuddered. Intense pain spread through his body as he gritted his teeth. The veins on his temple popped out while sweat poured down from his head. The pain lasted for a few minutes before he could exhale.
*Sniff*
He sniffed loudly and noticed an unpleasant stench escaping his body. Stripping down, he observed the grimy materials forming on his skin.
After a while, he activated his Scan the Dao killer move and noticed a significant change!
'The cluster of dao marks involving beast phantoms for desolate beasts averaged out at twenty dao marks.' Lo Jik noticed and identified a peculiar clump of dao marks representing Six-Winged Mammoth strength phantom. However, Lo Jik's sum of dao marks did not just increase by twenty dao marks. No.
His dao marks count jumped from 2200 to 2280!
'I used Unchained Champion in this version of Fickle Body Strength, including the effects of body refinement. So, not only did I gain strength, but my body also became a step sturdier!'
Human Champion Series had the limitation of conflicting with dao marks of other strength path body refinement. The same was true for Unchained Champion Gu. But gu immortals made use of their attainments and deduced ingenious and exquisite killer moves, surpassing the original limitations of gu worms to achieve their intended effects. Lo Jik was the same. In fact, he already deduced a shocking killer move!
Just a mortal killer move could grant nearly 80 dao marks?!
Other rank 6 and even rank 7 gu immortals would kill for such a precious treasure. But Lo Jik wasn't done yet.
He revised the killer move.
'The issue stems from food path. Despite my attainment, I have a shallow foundation in food path. The original intention was to perfectly 'ingest' all of Six-Winged Mammoth's wind and cloud path dao marks before 'digesting' and converting them into strength path dao marks. Food path specializes in eating and digesting. But the foundation of food path is food path dao marks.'
'I lack food path dao marks. Meanwhile, I'm already reaching the limit of this mortal killer move.'
'To truly gain a greater number of dao marks, I would need to refine Fickle Heart Strength, Unchained Champion, Accumulation, or one of the food path gu worms into an immortal gu worm.'
'In reality, using other corpses to get wind and cloud path dao marks is significantly easier. But most of the foundation of a desolate beast is lost when I try converting them into strength path. After all, I'm primarily a strength path gu immortal. What do I need other dao marks for? Furthermore, adding dao marks of various paths willy-nilly will negatively impact my cultivation due to conflicting dao marks.'
Earlier, Lo Jik displayed fearsome might using rank 5 Little Giant Bone Bow Gu. His human path dao marks did not conflict with strength path dao marks. However, if he had a huge number of, say, cloud path dao marks, these dao marks would interfere with the use of strength path gu worm and even conflict with strength path dao mark's resonance!
Lo Jik sighed and revised the killer move.
He had too many clones and the effects of Wisdom Gu through Pool of Wisdom made the task exceptionally simple.
The cloud of purple fog moved towards the second desolate beast.
It was long and slender, boasting pure white clouds and emanating an extremely pure feeling—Sky Serpent. This beast was filled with cloud and light path dao marks.
Lo Jik soon obtained a Sky Serpent strength phantom before checking his dao marks count.
2370.
A jump of ninety dao marks. This was Lo Jik's current limit. Still, Yin Yun would pale with fright if he realized Lo Jik used his desolate beasts to gain 170 dao marks!
This speed was too monstrous! Too astonishing!
Such talents must never be allowed to live; they were simply too dangerous!
Lo Jik closed his eyes and eased his breathing.
'Not only do I store more strength, by my body is entirely enhanced from every aspect. This is a virtuous cycle of growth. So, there will be no case of the strength in my body being too overbearing and causing negative impacts. This is also the benefit of an immortal body. Now, I can hold a lot of dao marks without any fears. Meanwhile, this kind of growth was impossible for me as a mortal else my body would have broken down due to the pressure from dao marks long ago. I also bear Great Strength True Martial Physique. The dao marks related to this physique are too great and overbearing to ignore.'
Lo Jik couldn't help but feel satisfied.
He eventually planned on modifying this killer move to also start cultivating strength path.
'Hmm, my body now has strength of Bandit Monkey, Bandit Giant, Flying Bear, Six-Winged Mammoth, and Sky Serpent Desolate Beasts. Furthermore, I carried over strengths of Water Dragon, Earthen Armored Bear, Yin-Yang Panda, White Lightning Tiger, and Ash Bat. I should search for their desolate beasts equivalent and enhance them to desolate beast level beast strength phantoms. That way, my body will not only contain strength of ten desolate beasts, but due to the effects of Unchained Champion, my own body will produce shocking strength itself without using All-Out Effort Gu.'
'This strength will be enough to deal with most gu immortals. Hmm. I also need to focus on my soul...'
His gaze flashed coldly as he smiled and stood up.
He stepped out of the cave after his cultivation and observed Ju Lin's condition. Lo Jik's cultivation appeared quick only because the time in his strength path blessed land flowed fifty times quicker. Only thirty minutes had passed since he started refining the two desolate beasts into strength path dao marks.
'Hmm. I still have time.' Lo Jik sat besides the cauldron and closed his eyes. A dreamy smoke flooded his mind and the darkness shifted. Lo Jik could see something even with his eyes closed.
After confirming a few things, Lo Jik smirked and activated a killer move.
The dreamy smoke inside his mind churned and took a more solid shape. It transformed into a massive door!
'Go.'
Lo Jik sent out hundreds of clones.
This was one of the most significant results of his secluded cultivation, a series of dream path killer moves!
'Hehehe... Dream Door and Dream Sneaks Behind Sleep were a great success! Oh, Yin Yun... learn to pick better targets in your next life!'

"Masters!"
Fang Dang Land Spirit instantly greeted the two gu masters. One was a tall and well-built man. The other was a young woman with beautiful and charming features. Both of their faces looked slightly similar. Not only did their features resemble somewhat, but they were flushed and breathing deeply.
They were Fu and Nu.
Despite being recognized as the masters of the blessed land, the pair could only feel embarrassment threatening to swallow them whole as they slowly smoothened their dishevelled appearances.
The duo did not dare look at each other. Behind them was a mattress. Gritting their teeth, the two moved in sync and launched their attacks, destroying the filthy thing at once. Yet, this sync made them blush even heavier as they groaned loudly.
"Hahaha! Amazing! You two are meant for each other!" The snake-man hybrid land spirit's genuine praise only made them feel worse!
