Is the whole class of 48 students all going to run for class monitor?
Is every single person going to give a speech?
That's impossible.
Even though Minister Zhou Yimin said that a trainee who doesn't want to be class monitor won't be a good leader, with 48 classmates, men and women, if each gives a three-to-five-minute campaign speech, the whole morning will be gone.
Besides, some of the female trainees are still shy, and their ability to organize language isn't that strong.
And some of the male trainees are already pushing 35, all of them Standard Level cadres. Normally, whenever they speak, there's a written draft, with a secretary or assistant helping to prepare it. Now you tell them to improvise on the spot—honestly, they just don't have that kind of skill.
Not taking part in the election itself is no big deal; but losing face in a campaign speech, that's the real disaster, haha…
