Even so, she couldn't stop thinking about it.
That night when she lay on her bed, she would remember the strange deity she had seen through the gap of the door.
Sometimes she even wondered whether it had really been there. Maybe her mother was right and she simply had too much imagination. Maybe she had read too many fairytales and mixed reality with fantasy.
But then she would remember the way Mira's face had changed for that brief moment.
It looked exactly like the mask.
No matter how much she tried to forget it, the image continued to haunt her until she started avoiding that hallway altogether.
