Chapter 812, Dragon Arrives at the Fortress

Evil sword!

This guy had collected an evil sword.

[Fire Qilin Evil Sword (Exotic Item)]

[Effect: Fire attribute damage, body homogenization, increased fire resistance.]

[Side Effect: Corrupts the mind.]

(Description: An evil sword born from the reverse scale of a fire attribute beast. Grants the user great power while gradually driving them to madness.)

A fire attribute evil sword.

Its effects increased fire damage, homogenized the body, and enhanced fire resistance.

That reminded him of the evil sword 'White Phoenix' wielded by Sheila Grey of Gold-Silver Island.

That one had ice attribute damage and gave wings to the user during use.

The difference seemed to be that 'White Phoenix' only worked for those with elven blood, whereas this one didn't seem to have any specific requirements.

He looked back at the evil sword on the wall.

The side effect was mind corruption.

That might actually make it ideal for skeletons—since they had no fear, anger, or other emotions, there wouldn't be much of a mind to corrupt.

"What's wrong? Is this sword something good?" Glenda asked.

Xiaoxiao flew back as well, continuing to stare at the longswords on the wall.

"Evil sword. It's called Fire Qilin, grants fire attributes."

"Ooh! An unexpected bonus," Glenda said with a grin.

"For sure!" Wu Heng glanced at the rest of the weapons, then stashed them all in his spatial ring.

He returned to the outer room.

Wu Heng continued checking everything inside the commander's spatial ring.

The commander's weapon was a heavy sword called [Mountain Drip], a magic weapon that increased weight when swinging.

The armor boosted defense and stamina regeneration.

There were also boots that increased movement speed, a helmet that cleared the mind, and a horn that boosted soldiers' morale…

A variety of magical items, all stored in the ring.

There were also scrolls and various potions.

One by one, he piled them onto the table.

"This guy... is he a hamster or something? So much stuff," Glenda exclaimed.

"Maybe he just likes hoarding," Wu Heng said as he dug through the clutter and pulled out a few documents to read.

They were property deeds and business holdings in the city and other towns.

A real bigwig.

Whoosh~!

At that moment, Benny rushed back in and said, "Wu Heng! The Minister of Intelligence is here. His carriage is at the front gate. Looks like his class is Rogue."

So he came after all.

If he hadn't, Wu Heng would've had to go look for him.

"How many people did he bring?"

"About 20 or more," Benny replied.

Wu Heng nodded and said, "Alright. Let's set this up and kill him here."

"How? If a fight breaks out, his people will rush in," Glenda pointed out.

Wu Heng casually activated [Mansion Spell]. Kashu and Shiny walked out immediately.

He handed the [Corpse Shroud] to Kashu and said, "Kashu, go invisible and wait by the door. Shiny, head to the inner room. I'll lure him into the secret chamber. We kill him quick."

Kashu donned the [Corpse Shroud] and vanished instantly.

Then he hid in the corner near the door.

High-level Professionals could sense things even without seeing, so even while invisible, keeping some distance was essential.

Just then, footsteps came from outside.

Then a knock—"Commander, Lord Blyce is here."

"Let him in. The others wait outside."

The door opened. A man in a purple brocade robe entered. Beneath it, faint outlines of inner armor could be seen.

His brown hair was slicked back, skin pale, eyebrows thin and raised. Not a hint of stubble on his face.

He walked in with a cold expression, scanning Wu Heng from head to toe several times.

"If you have any intel, speak directly," Blyce said, his voice laced with an eerie tone.

Wu Heng replied, "I've pieced together a complete lead—it's connected to the Red Wind Gang in the eastern district."

"Red Wind Gang? Don't they pay you weekly?"

Ignoring the question, Wu Heng said, "The gang just recruited a new member. Yesterday, they joined the delivery team that came to the commander's estate. You should know—some of that money was for the Minister of Administration."

"Since you found this, why not just arrest them?" Blyce still stared at him.

"What's the point of catching one? I need your help to arrest the rest or at least confirm their identities," Wu Heng said, locking eyes.

"Since when is your city guard good at this stuff?" Blyce squinted.

"They're a threat to everyone in the city. Don't you think it's better to catch them early?"

"Fine. What's your plan?"

Wu Heng stood up and walked inward. "Come with me. I've mapped out the entire network. Some city officials are involved. That's why I need your help."

Blyce hesitated, then followed.

Wu Heng stopped at the secret chamber, took out a key, unlocked it, and walked in first. "The city's been deeply infiltrated..."

Blyce stood at the threshold, peering into the sealed room. He didn't step in.

"What you're saying is..."

Suddenly, his body staggered forward as if beyond his control—he stumbled straight into the chamber.

The door shut behind him.

In the dim room, two figures stood staring at him.

"Shiny, get him."

Buzz~!

A fluttering sound like wings, and in the next second, a figure bolted forward like lightning.

Blyce's face twisted in shock—he tried to dodge but suddenly froze.

Done for!

Bang~!

He was slammed to the ground in an instant.

He fumbled for the dagger at his waist, but a punch like a warhammer crashed into his chest.

Behind him, Wu Heng raised a staff made of a white bone spine.

[Contagion Ray][Weakening Ray][Wounding Spell]—three spells shot into Blyce's body.

Blyce's eyes widened in disbelief.

A high-level melee Professional?

A Necromancer!

Why was one here? Why was the commander a Necromancer?

Damn it!

Crack~!

The sound of bone snapping. Blood sprayed from his mouth.

Damn it, this guy's level wasn't below his!

Bang~!

The final punch snapped his neck.

...…

The room fell silent again.

Benny flew in from outside. "All good. Everyone's sitting in the lounge area outside. No one noticed."

"Good. Less hassle that way." Wu Heng reopened [Mansion Spell] and dragged the body inside.

The imprisoned commander stared wide-eyed.

Staring at the dragged-in Minister of Intelligence.

Wu Heng cast [Resurrection Spell] to bring him back, then used [Sustain Life] to stabilize his vitals.

After feeding him two pills, he locked him in a cage.

Then Wu Heng walked back out.

The skeletons were reabsorbed into the [Mansion Spell].

He transformed back into the Minister of Intelligence's appearance and exited the room.

Whoosh~!

The guards at the door all stood at attention.

Wu Heng said, "Let's go. We're heading back."

With that, he led everyone downstairs, got into the carriage, and slowly left.

...…

Serted Fortress, Commander's Estate—

Wen Mansa sat in her room, rocking the baby in her arms.

A knock at the door. Butler Hartle entered with a serious expression. "Madam, a few people from the Snake Emblem Consortium have arrived."

"Snake Emblem Consortium?" Wen Mansa frowned.

"Yes. They have consortium credentials. The guards had no conflict with them and let them into the city," said Hartle.

"Do we know who they are?"

Hartle hesitated, then whispered, "Madam, the one leading them... he resembles the hero the lord once mentioned. I can't be sure."

A hero from the Snake Emblem Consortium?

"Dragon?"

"Yes!"
