Chapter 763, Here to Cause Trouble
The two halted their steps.
The Guild was waiting for someone?
Could it be... for them?
The girl glanced over and whispered, "Let's go this way."
"Miss, aren't we going to the Guild?"
"Let's check out the cinema first. We can go over after dark," she said.
The two turned to leave.
But from the Guild squad's position, an elven girl led her team swiftly toward them.
As expected, they were here for her.
"Leader Lilith, the carriage is ready."
The elf in front bowed respectfully.
The Guild members behind her also bowed immediately.
Whoosh~!
The crowd instantly turned their attention their way.
They might not have caught the word "Leader," but seeing a Steward bowing was enough to show this elder and young girl weren't ordinary.
"Whose little lady is this?"
"Probably some noble's daughter here for the auction."
"She must be from HQ. Otherwise, a Steward wouldn't come personally."
"Definitely not a commoner."
...…
The surrounding chatter grew louder.
Soon, a circle formed around them, buzzing with gossip.
Now Lilith had no chance of strolling around freely.
Expressionless, she looked at the group in front of her and asked, "Just you lot?"
"Lord Wu Heng is in the carriage. If he gets out, it'll draw even more attention. Please understand," Sheila Grey explained again.
Given the current scene, with so many people watching, any other plan was out the window.
"Let's go. Lead the way," Lilith said.
"This way, please."
They walked together toward the carriages.
Sheila Grey opened the door. "Leader, please."
Lilith stepped into the second carriage. "Have Wu Heng come here."
Sheila nodded and quickly relayed the message to the first carriage. Wu Heng, wearing a hood, came over. The carriage door was already open, revealing the youthful Lilith.
"Leader Lilith."
"Get in. I've got a few things to ask you."
Wu Heng stepped into the carriage.
Sheila asked, "Shall we head to the Guild?"
Lilith didn't answer, so Wu Heng said, "Let's go to the island lord's mansion. I'll host Leader Lilith for a meal."
Still silent, Lilith gave no objection.
Sheila returned to her own carriage, and the convoy moved forward slowly.
...…
Inside the dimly lit carriage.
Lilith sat on one side, Wu Heng on the other.
The old man attendant stayed outside with the driver, seemingly not concerned about any danger to Lilith.
Wu Heng examined her. Lilith was studying him too. Their gazes locked for a second.
Then both looked away.
Wu Heng broke the silence. "Leader, why didn't you let me know you were coming? I could've met you at the port."
"The island's intelligence is impressive. I'd just arrived and you already knew," Lilith replied.
So she hadn't noticed Glenda.
That meant a level 20 ghost, at the right distance, could still avoid detection by someone of equal level.
"I figured you might come, so I asked my people to keep an eye out," Wu Heng said with a smile.
"That new pill—your doing too?"
"The concept was mine, but the alchemists made it happen. It wasn't just my work."
"People at the expo have high praise for you."
"Helping more people is part of the Guild's mission."
...…
The carriage paused midway at the Guild.
Sheila Grey and the team disembarked and returned to the Guild.
Wu Heng's carriage continued on to the mansion.
They entered the island lord's mansion.
Lilith curiously eyed the skeletal guards with guns. Her gaze showed curiosity, not fear.
Inside the parlor, Wu Heng invited her to sit.
The maids quickly brought tea and a variety of pastries.
Then quietly stood aside.
Their eyes, however, were full of confusion and surprise.
Was this the important guest the master mentioned?
Could she be another princess from some noble family?
Sitting on the sofa, Lilith said, "The island's running well. It's clear you have some talent in this area."
"It's all thanks to everyone's efforts. I haven't done much."
"Humble too. That's a good trait," Lilith nodded approvingly.
Wu Heng continued, "Leader, have you been anywhere else on the island? I could show you around if there's something you missed."
"I've seen most places. Only haven't been to the cinema," she said after thinking.
Wu Heng said, "That area's too crowded and messy. We've got a home theater here with better viewing conditions. I'll have the maids prepare it."
"Let's see how well you manage your household, then."
...…
Knock knock knock~!
Just as they were chatting, someone knocked on the courtyard gate.
Minnie went to check and quickly came back. "Master, Bishop Dek Gavin from the Church is here. Says he has something important to discuss."
Wu Heng frowned.
The Church's bishop!
Lilith also looked over, curious.
Wu Heng turned to her. "Leader, what do you think...?"
"Go ahead. I'll just sit here," Lilith said, moving over to the tea table.
Robe diligently brought over tea and pastries, softly introducing each flavor.
Wu Heng didn't press further and told Minnie, "Bring them in."
Soon, footsteps approached. Minnie led two figures into the hall.
Leading was Bishop Dek Gavin from the local Church. Behind him was a towering, burly man nearly two meters tall.
Compared to Minnie, he looked like a giant.
As the two walked, the skeletal guards on both sides began making clicking sounds.
Like machines being interfered with—unstable.
Glenda flew back and merged with Wu Heng, sharing the view—both men were level 18 Professionals.
They entered the hall.
The bishop and his companion scanned the room.
Their eyes briefly passed over Robe and Lilith, then settled on Wu Heng.
"Lord of the Island."
"Bishop… please, have a seat."
The two sat down across from him.
Wu Heng asked, "What brings you both here today?"
"It's about the decree on stationed forces. The Church has special circumstances and hopes you'll consider making adjustments accordingly," the bishop said bluntly.
Wu Heng's brow twitched. The day before the auction, they brought another level 18 to push this?
Great timing.
"What kind of special circumstances? If there's a good reason, adjustments can be made," Wu Heng replied.
The bishop smiled, "Because of our sacred duties and the dangers from cultists and heretics, we need armed protection for the safety of our clergy."
Wu Heng said, "Don't worry. Gold-Silver Island is very safe."
The burly man's eyes narrowed, and he growled, "You've got way too many undead here—way more than the pirates you've supposedly killed. Where are they from? You keep making excuses to cut our numbers. Got something to hide on this island?"
Wu Heng's brow furrowed. These guys were definitely here to stir trouble.
With Lilith present, he didn't want to make a scene, so he said calmly, "The Guild regularly reports to HQ. There's nothing suspicious."
"HQ's far away. Who knows what you're doing here," the burly man sneered. "This island's definitely hiding something. Today, I'm searching this mansion."
Wu Heng's eyes narrowed. Now he understood their real motive.
They weren't here to talk. They came to make a show of force.
Two level 18s—more than enough to threaten the mansion, especially since they were already inside.
Wu Heng's expression hardened. He stared at them and said with a smile, "And who exactly are you?"
"You don't need to know who I am."
Wu Heng looked at the bishop. "Bishop, did you bring a bandit here to rob the estate of the Guild's standard bearer?"
The bishop remained silent.
The burly man spoke again, "You've got two choices—revoke the garrison limits, or explain the origin of every single skeleton here."
"Can't explain it."
Heh~!
Laughter came from the side.
The burly man's face darkened. He turned abruptly and growled, "Little girl, are you laughing at us?"
