Chapter 760: Arriving on the Island
Wu Heng created this plan mainly to restrict the Church's people, to prevent too many Paladins or Priests from staying on the island.
The Snake Emblem Consortium just got dragged into the mess.
But this local bishop? Really arrogant.
He even brought up the leader of the Church directly.
"Ignore them. We'll talk after the auction is over," Wu Heng said.
"Okay, Master." Andviel nodded.
After eating, Wu Heng wiped his mouth, tugged down the strap on the little fox's shoulder, and said, "The Alchemy Skeletons produced another kind of pill. Take it to the Guild tomorrow for an efficacy certification, then put it on display."
"Which one should we replace?"
"The fountain pen."
"Okay, Master."
Wu Heng patted the fox girl's perky butt and said, "I'm going to brush my teeth. Wait in the room."
Andviel smiled. "Okay, Master."
She bounced upstairs.
......
Exhibition.
The fountain pen booth was removed and replaced with the new product.
Very soon, news about the Island Lord Mansion's new item spread all across the island.
Watches and fountain pens had become top sellers in various regions.
Regardless of race or nationality, everyone accepted these products, and the trading guilds made a fortune reselling them.
Now there was barely any news about knock-offs. Everyone was just boosting their orders.
No one knew what the new product was, but they were already showcasing it before the auction.
Nobles, trade guild reps,
Crowd-following locals—
All rushed toward the exhibition.
The hall was packed with people.
The central booth was already surrounded.
The screen above played a new video.
A wounded Warrior quickly pulled out a bottle of pills and downed two white tablets.
In the next second, his bleeding stopped and his wounds sealed.
"This new item's a healing potion."
"In this small round form, it's definitely easier to carry."
"Damn, Lord Wu Heng is stepping into the alchemy business."
"He made money, and the first thing he did was upgrade our potions."
"Lord Island Master really does care about us."
The crowd started buzzing.
Fountain pens, watches, bikes—those were luxury items for the elite.
Too pricey and not really essential.
But potions? That affects everyone.
Without potion vials, mercenaries and adventurers without storage rings would now carry them more easily.
If the price came down, everyone would benefit.
So this upgrade felt like it was made for the average person.
Suddenly, excitement surged among the crowd.
Who is Wu Heng? A human genius, ruler of a whole island.
Yet he still thinks about regular folks.
Those previous products must've been for funding this potion project.
What a good guy!
A really good guy.
Near the booth, a group of alchemists crowded around the display.
No one bothered debating Wu Heng's character. All the alchemists were pressed up against the counter, inspecting the pill's appearance, waving hands near it to sniff out ingredients.
But all they smelled was sweat.
And the stink of the people nearby.
Still, every alchemist there knew:
After this, the alchemy world was about to change.
And it was going to be a bigger shake-up than the watches or bikes.
Fall behind, and you'd be completely wiped out.
......
Elsewhere.
Wu Heng sat in the steward's study, facing an upright elf scholar in a neat long coat and silver-rimmed glasses.
Sheila Grey introduced, "This is Mr. Kelmik, the deputy of Claudio, the leader of the Hongwen Society."
Then she introduced Wu Heng, "Island Lord of Gold-Silver Island, Banner Bearer of the Emerald Sea, Lord Wu Heng."
"Lord Wu Heng."
"Mr. Kelmik."
They exchanged polite smiles.
Wu Heng was already a member of the Hongwen Society, though he'd never been to the headquarters or taken part in any research.
First time meeting the deputy.
And first time even hearing about such a position.
The elf deputy still smiled as he spoke, "Leader Claudio has been immersed in studying ancient tablets and couldn't attend, so he sent me to join the auction."
"I should've considered his schedule. Hope I didn't interrupt his research," Wu Heng said with some regret.
It didn't really matter if he came or not.
Sending a deputy still showed they took this seriously.
It basically counted as the leader attending himself.
"I've only read about Gold-Silver Island in the papers, and being here in person is honestly surprising," the deputy said evenly.
Wu Heng asked curiously, "When did you arrive on the island, Mr. Kelmik?"
"This morning."
"It'll get even livelier at night."
"You mean the streetlights?" the deputy asked.
Wu Heng nodded. "Yeah, the lights. But I also meant the lively nighttime atmosphere. If you get a chance, go for a walk tonight."
"Looking forward to it," said the deputy. "So, Lord Wu Heng, when's the auction?"
"The day after tomorrow. I'll have someone guide you to the venue."
"Perfect. We'll leave lodging arrangements to you and Steward Sheila Grey then."
Sheila nodded, then turned, "Shiyali, take Mr. Kelmik and the rest of the delegation to the Guild dorms."
Shiyali stood up and gestured, "This way, Mr. Kelmik. I'll show you your rooms."
"Alright, I'll go get settled then." Kelmik stood.
Wu Heng walked him to the door and waved him off.
......
Back in the room.
Sheila took a letter out of her storage ring, "Here's a letter from Leader Hadarai. How many leaders did you invite, anyway?"
Hadarai was the leader of Justice Sword's field agents.
Wu Heng got up and took the letter. "Just three."
Sheila rolled her eyes. "Just three? Really?"
There were only five executive heroes. Leaving out the Church one they had beef with, only one wasn't invited.
And he talks like it's a small number.
Wu Heng chuckled and opened the letter.
The letter said the leader couldn't come due to guarding HQ, praised Wu Heng's recent growth, and encouraged him to keep it up.
Seemed like they still recognized Wu Heng as a former field agent.
Reporting to your boss always pays off.
"My leader wrote me too," Sheila said smugly. "Praised Gold-Silver Island's progress, said I did well."
"You know each other?" Wu Heng asked.
"Same race. He's our field chief. Nothing weird about it," Sheila replied.
They were both elves. Anyone promoted through the Guild naturally got assigned to that group.
Church heroes had no backup, which is why they dared to pick on her.
Didn't even have a country behind them.
"After the auction, I'll prepare a gift for Leader Hadarai and send it over," Wu Heng said.
Sheila frowned. "Sending gifts directly? Isn't that kind of shady?"
"No one's going to talk. It's fine," Wu Heng said.
As they spoke, the door suddenly swung open.
Shiyali peeked her head in, glanced at them both, and grinned, "Just checking if you were up to anything naughty."
"What nonsense!" Sheila glared.
Shiyali giggled. "Movie night at your place?"
"Sure. Stay over if it's too late," Wu Heng said, still pushing it.
Sheila frowned, watching the two banter. "After the auction. Too many people coming to the island right now."
"Fair enough." Wu Heng nodded.
Shiyali muttered, "Annoying, all of you."
Sheila said, "You live here. Watch movies anytime."
"Just saying. Wu Heng, teleport over for dinner tonight. Don't get caught," Shiyali added.
Wu Heng glanced at her. "We'll see."
After wrapping up, Wu Heng stood. "I'm heading back to sort some things."
"Alright, see you." Sheila smiled.
Leaving the Guild, Wu Heng walked toward the Island Lord's mansion.
......
Back at the mansion, Wu Heng went into the study.
Poured himself a cup of tea, pulled out the letter again for another look.
Two leaders—one wrote him, one sent a deputy.
What's up with Lilith?
He thought they were close. She wouldn't ignore him, right?
Come to think of it, she never replied to any of his letters before either.
"So cold?"
