Chapter 633, Rifle Production Chain

The rifle production chain began development after Tiancheng Group joined the base.

Wu Heng's idea was simple.

The two worlds complement each other—cold weapons are used to fight Zombies, relying on skeleton numbers to clear hordes, reclaim cities, and rescue survivors.

Firearms, on the other hand, would be used in the other world.

Ordinary Professionals cannot withstand bullets—they are enough to handle the vast majority of battles.

When the time comes, an armed skeleton army unafraid of death, equipped with full modern weaponry, will be incredibly powerful.

Now, finally, good news had arrived.

It's just that he wasn't at the arms factory.

Wu Heng thought for a moment and asked, "Are the ships returning to Binhai Port currently docked?"

"Yes, there are two ships making round trips," Qi Hancai replied.

"Then I'll go back today to check on things there," Wu Heng decided immediately.

"I'll have the cargo ship side make preparations," Qi Hancai said as she picked up the radio and contacted the survivor in charge of the cargo vessel.

After a brief conversation, she put the radio down. "All set—no issues at the port. You can return anytime."

"Alright." Wu Heng nodded and asked, "Is the logistics convoy assembled?"

"Yes, part came from the base, and the rest are survivors from Sangu Port—though communication is still somewhat difficult," Qi Hancai explained.

These base personnel couldn't just be supported indefinitely.

They needed jobs, but there were communication barriers.

"It's all manual labor. As long as they're not stupid, they can do it. Have Xin He run a language class—teach them Chinese during their free time," Wu Heng instructed.

"Got it." Qi Hancai smiled.

Wu Heng stood up. "Let's go arrange the skeleton team. While I'm gone, they can keep clearing Zombies."

The two left the room and headed downstairs together.

Wu Heng gathered the base's skeletons. Aside from the ones guarding the walls and port, the rest were formed into an expansion team.

The team included one Big Head Skeleton and one Level 11 Skeleton Mage.

Two Wyvern skeletons, twelve Vampire skeletons.

"Head down the main road and clear Zombies along the way. The Skeleton Mage is in charge of converting corpses."

"Collect all corpse cores and gold."

Wu Heng instructed the Big Head Skeleton and the Skeleton Mage.

After a moment of thought and seeing there was nothing else to add, he said, "Alright, move out!"

The gate in the wall opened.

The skeleton army marched out of the base, advancing down the road.

Behind them followed the logistics convoy Qi Hancai had organized.

They were responsible for transporting weapons, spoils, and rescuing survivors along the way.

The plan for this team was simple.

Advance all the way into the interior of Korea.

This area was roughly the size of a province back home, making it easier to clean up.

Research institutes and arms factories would also be easier to locate.

After all, it was a small place.

Watching the army fade into the distance, the gate closed once more.

Wu Heng and Qi Hancai turned and headed to the port.

"These are the dimensions for the power plant boiler," Qi Hancai handed over a documented sheet.

Wu Heng glanced at it. "Next time I return, we'll restore electricity here."

Qi Hancai lowered her head, sounding a bit reluctant, "When will you come back?"

"Why, already can't let go?"

"I'm afraid I'll start missing you after a while," Qi Hancai said.

Wu Heng smiled, "I'll return once things over there are done."

As they spoke, they arrived at the parked car by the roadside.

The modern port was large—they needed to drive.

After closing the car door, the skeleton driver started the vehicle.

Qi Hancai adjusted the front passenger seat forward to make space.

She knelt in front of Wu Heng and began pulling at his belt.

"Now?" Wu Heng asked in surprise.

"There's enough time," Qi Hancai said, burying her head in his lap.

Wu Heng gently stroked her hair, enjoying the eager service.

...

The car reached the port.

After parking by the road, the two got out with the skeletons.

"Say hi to Sister Yanhong for me," Qi Hancai said with a smile.

Her mood was a bit better than before.

"Let me know if anything comes up. Don't take risks—send skeletons to handle it," Wu Heng advised.

"Got it. With skeletons around, nothing can go wrong," Qi Hancai said confidently.

"Alright, I'm off. I'll be back soon."

Qi Hancai nodded and waved goodbye.

Wu Heng boarded the cargo ship.

The ship captain in charge gave a slight bow.

"Let's go!"

The ship started up and departed from Sangu Port.

...

Two and a half days later.

Wu Heng rode a Wyvern and arrived above the arms factory.

He jumped down from the Wyvern and used [Featherfall] before landing, slowing his descent along with two skeleton attendants.

"Leader!" Passing survivors greeted and saluted him.

Wu Heng nodded. "Is Gao Rong at the base?"

"I haven't seen him leave."

"Check if he's here. If he is, have him go to the meeting room," Wu Heng instructed.

"Understood."

The survivor radioed Gao Rong. Wu Heng headed toward the meeting room.

Wu Heng sat in the meeting room for a while.

The door was knocked on.

Gao Rong entered and saw Wu Heng seated.

He gave a slight bow. "Leader, you're back."

"Sit."

Gao Rong sat nearby. Wu Heng continued, "Qi Hancai said you've had some success here?"

"Yes, Leader," Gao Rong said confidently. "The rifle production line has completed test production. As long as materials are sufficient, mass production is no issue. As for the printing presses, we've made thirteen units and are producing more."

So the rifle production test was indeed successful.

Wu Heng stood. "Let's go. Show me."

"Please, Leader," Gao Rong replied.

The two left the building and headed to the factory side.

From a distance, rows of workshops could be seen.

This area had been burned by a fire, but with warmer weather, it had been rebuilt into a factory district. Though a bit crude, it was functional—red brick walls everywhere.

Inside the workshop, Gao Rong flipped a switch, lighting up the entire room.

The mechanical structure of the production line was revealed.

The machines weren't running, but it was obvious they had been tested.

Gao Rong explained, "Leader, this is the machine that manufactures barrels. The machine drills the bore, then uses a deep-hole drill on the alloy rod to form a central hole. The inner wall is polished smooth to make 'seamless steel pipes.'"

Since they had documentation and blueprints—even without a prior background in military manufacturing—

He could still describe the process and key points.

"Can it withstand bullet firing?" Wu Heng asked.

"It's all high-quality steel, chosen according to rifle schematics. No problem," Gao Rong said.

"What about the rest?"

Gao Rong added, "Other workshops are for other parts of the production chain."

"Is it hard to operate?"

"Not really. It's automated. Once started, it produces on its own. If anything goes wrong, it just needs manual correction."

Wu Heng nodded in satisfaction. "Run it for a full day tomorrow. I'll assign skeletons to help produce—just guide them."

"Understood," Gao Rong replied.

Then the two visited the other workshops. Gao Rong introduced the machines and parts one by one.

After seeing everything, they returned to the meeting room.

Wu Heng looked at him and said, "Well done. You've worked hard."

"It's our duty," Gao Rong said modestly.

"How many of you are there total?"

Gao Rong replied, "Seven R&D personnel, eighteen total including apprentices."

Wu Heng nodded. "You've seen Qi Hancai's owl, right?"

Gao Rong's eyes showed confusion, not sure why the owl came up.

Still, he answered, "Yes, that's Deputy Leader Qi's pet. It once helped spot roaming Zombies."

"That's an ability—it provides continuous physical enhancement. Its effects are similar to abilities awakened from corpse cores, but with no side effects," Wu Heng explained.
