Chapter 376: You Plucked Andrius's Fur?

"He's right here."

The creaky wooden door opened with a groan. The bartender Charles led Bai Luo into the staff dormitory.

Perhaps because it was inside a tavern, although it was a dorm for employees, the room didn't have the sweaty or smelly odor Bai Luo had expected. Instead, there was a faint aroma of wine.

Bai Luo didn't think these rough men would have such refined taste. It was probably a requirement from Diluc.

"He's been sleeping the whole time after I left?"

Looking at the sleeping Venti on the bed, Bai Luo asked with a strange expression. To be honest, because Venti slept so often, Bai Luo couldn't spot any flaws when he pretended to sleep.

But Bai Luo knew his own concoction well—there was no way it could keep the Anemo Archon unconscious for that long. Which meant… he was probably using this chance to slack off.

Yeah, very likely.

"Yeah. Master Diluc originally wanted to send him to the church, but considering he hadn't paid for the drinks or the damaged furniture, we temporarily settled him here."

Venti: "???"

What drinks? Every time he came before, they chased him out—how did it suddenly become unpaid bar tabs?

"Don't worry, I know this guy's ability. If he busks, he'll pay it back quickly."

Bai Luo's expression became increasingly subtle. When Charles mentioned the drink bill, he noticed Venti's eyelids twitch slightly.

The movement was tiny—almost impossible to notice—but it meant the Anemo Archon was already awake and just pretending to sleep.

"You may not know, but his songs are indeed pretty good. The problem is, they're all ancient tunes from a thousand years ago. Only a few old-timers like them, but how many old-timers come to a tavern to drink?"

Charles began complaining. As he said, they had once let Venti perform at the tavern. His singing truly matched his own description—like a gentle breeze brushing across one's face.

But unfortunately, he sang stories that were long out of fashion. Many young people didn't even understand what he was singing about. Only when he occasionally sang amusing tales about the Anemo Archon did people pay attention.

Nowadays, bards only praised the Anemo Archon's glorious achievements. This guy, however, dared to sing about the Archon's "crazy antics" right in front of the church.

"That's not his problem—it's yours."

After realizing Barbatos was pretending to sleep, Bai Luo's mischievous spirit awakened again. Since he was currently in his "Hei" class, and as long as he kept the quantumization in hand, he wouldn't be in danger.

"How so?"

After briefly interacting with Bai Luo, Charles had already gotten a sense of his personality. He also knew this guy had plenty of unusual ideas.

Although Master Diluc had repeatedly warned them not to get too close to the Ausbilder—lest they get tricked—Charles still wanted to hear what Bai Luo had in mind.

"Look at his smooth skin and appearance, how about…"

Bai Luo raised his eyebrows twice, wearing a knowing smile.

"How about?"

Hearing that, Charles's eyes lit up.

If we're talking about this, I'm not sleepy anymore.

He hadn't noticed before, but looking closely now, the boy really was quite cute.

Venti: "!!!"

"Ahem—"

Just as the conversation between the two was veering in a strange direction, Venti—who had been planning to keep pretending—finally spoke up to interrupt.

He had no choice. If he didn't stop them, he's afraid that he would end up as a barmaid or worse.

Bai Luo remained calm—after all, he already knew Venti was pretending, and everyone knew how thick-skinned he was.

Charles, on the other hand, blushed and looked a bit flustered.

"I— I'll go busy myself outside. You two take your time."

Not staying any longer, Charles awkwardly greeted them and hurried out, leaving only the worn door half-closed, swaying slightly with the wind.

"How heartless of you, Lord Harbinger. To plan to take an innocent bard and… and…"

Even Venti didn't know how to finish that sentence.

"What's wrong? With your smooth skin and cute appearance, if you put on a bartender's uniform, wouldn't you attract a bunch of female customers? Maybe some blond idiot would even show up every day, throwing pink stones at you."

Bai Luo shrugged, looking completely innocent.

"Bar… bartender?"

Venti froze, clearly not expecting that suggestion.

"What else? Mixologist? I don't think any drink that reaches your hands would make it safely to the customer. Or…"

"No 'or'!"

With a bang, the door was slammed shut by an invisible force, and Venti decisively ended the topic.

However, when he looked at Bai Luo again, his eyelid twitched.

How long had he been asleep?

Why did this guy now carry the scent of the North Wind?

Good grief. Since he couldn't get anything from me, did he go pluck Andrius's fur instead?

In truth, Barbatos didn't know that Bai Luo also had a smooth crystal hanging around his neck. After Bai Luo cut off one of Beisht's heads, Beidou had chopped off one of its horns as a trophy. That round crystal was later given to Bai Luo.

The Geo Archon's contract, the Raiden Shogun's lightning punishment—Eye of Stormy Judgment, the Cryo Archon's authority, the Wolf King's North Wind, Beisht's crystal… and even a trace of Orobashi's resentment.

Goodness—whether he had encountered them or not, this guy had basically meddled with a lot of god.

Who knew—next time he went to Liyue, he might even wander over to where Havria died and steal the salt jars there. Not that he needed to sell salt to make money—he had eleven good colleagues, after all. He just wanted to prepare in advance.

If one day he were thrown into the sea to play cards with Orobashi, at least he wouldn't end up being salted by Rex Lapis arriving with some blond kid.

So what was he planning to take from me?

Thinking of Bai Luo's malicious words earlier, Barbatos suddenly felt a chill.

But nothing he imagined happened. After confirming Venti had shut the door, Bai Luo took out the narrative poem he'd obtained from the system and handed it to him.

"I got this narrative poem by chance. Could the Anemo Archon help me take a look and tell me what it means?"

Bai Luo had already understood some of its meaning, but what he really wanted to know was: which god's self-narration was it? And why had the system given him this thing?
