Chapter 332: Noelle

As a maid of the Knights of Favonius, Noelle had her own logic.

The Knights of Favonius exist to serve everyone, so as a member of the Knights, she couldn't limit herself to serving people only within the headquarters.

All work, she believed, was a maid's work.

This wasn't empty boasting. It was something she truly lived by.

No matter where you were, as long as you needed help and shouted "Noelle," she would arrive in a very short time to solve your problem.

Whether it was moving cargo or assisting at banquets in the wine industry, no matter where an issue arose, she would appear like a gust of wind and cleanly resolve everything.

Some Knights of Favonius even tried to slack off by assigning her gate-guard duty.

This had gotten so out of hand that the Knights of Favonius were forced to pass a rule explicitly forbidding soldiers from ordering Noelle around.

"Regarding your cat, I drew it based on descriptions from passersby. Is this what it looks like?"

As she spoke, Noelle took out a carefully prepared colored pencil drawing from her pocket.

It had to be said that her drawing skills were quite good.

Aside from the color, though, it had basically nothing to do with "Master Cat Diluc."

"The appearance is more or less right. After all, red cats aren't very common to begin with."

Bai Luo knew very well that finding this cat was an impossible task.

There might be red cats, but one that was completely crimson like "Master Cat Diluc" was rare indeed.

This was destined to be a mission impossible.

"Understood. May I ask if you're free right now? If you don't have any urgent matters, you could search together with me. That way, I can also introduce you to some of Mondstadt's scenic spots."

Picking up her pen, Noelle seriously wrote down Bai Luo's completely useless remark, then extended the invitation.

Honestly, compared to Swan at the city gate—who could only act according to the Knights of Favonius Handbook—Noelle was far more suited to be a knight.

Unfortunately, no matter how hard she tried, she remained only a probationary knight of the Knights of Favonius.

It wasn't that anyone was deliberately holding her back, rather, this was purely a form of protection.

With her personality, becoming a full-fledged knight might actually be a bad thing for her.

In fact, aside from Noelle herself, many people already regarded her as a proper knight.

That included the Acting Grand Master who had personally rejected her application.

"I have a gathering with friends at eight. Before that, I'm completely free."

Since Bai Luo had come out specifically to amuse himself, there was no way he would refuse Noelle's invitation.

He smiled politely as he spoke.

"Thank you for your understanding."

This was also Noelle's first time meeting such a cooperative foreigner.

Especially with Bai Luo's highly deceptive smile, Noelle had essentially let down all her guard around him.

Or perhaps… she had never been wary of Bai Luo to begin with.

"The Cat's Tail is where cats most often gather. If your cat got lost in Mondstadt, it's very likely there. I'll take you to The Cat's Tail first."

After putting away the sketch of the cat, Noelle proactively led Bai Luo toward The Cat's Tail, thoughtfully walking ahead of him.

"Noelle, is this a new friend?"

"Yes. This gentleman lost his pet in the city. I was just about to help him search."

"Noelle, my shop just baked a fresh batch of Mondstadt grilled fish. Would you like to try some?"

"Ah, thank you, Miss Sara. I'll help repair your stove when I have time."

Along the way, Bai Luo noticed that no matter who they ran into, everyone greeted Noelle warmly.

And Noelle, in turn, would always mention exactly where that person needed help.

For example, Miss Sara's stove had previously been accidentally blown up by a child and still hadn't been fully repaired.

Flora still hadn't managed to move all the flowers piled up at her place.

Miss Donna had clothes drying outside that she hadn't brought in yet.

Even when none of them actively asked Noelle for help, this busy little girl would still choose to help them on her own initiative.

Perhaps the most exhausted person in all of Mondstadt was Jean, but the busiest one was definitely Noelle.

"Miss Sara's dinners are wonderful. If you get the chance, you should try them," Noelle said. Then she suddenly paused. "Ah, you have a gathering with friends tonight, don't you? That was my oversight. I'm sorry."

After passing by the Good Hunter restaurant, Noelle didn't recommend its food to Bai Luo.

Once she remembered that Bai Luo already had evening plans, she felt her words might have been inappropriate and quickly apologized.

"It's fine. A gathering doesn't necessarily mean eating. I'll try it sometime if I get the chance."

Faced with such a well-behaved child, even Bai Luo didn't really feel like scheming against her.

And even if he did, it would only be in the form of well-intentioned protection.

Like this time.

Using the excuse of looking for a cat, Bai Luo could occupy the time she would otherwise spend helping others, letting her rest a little.

As for those people who "needed" her help, it was about time they learned to be independent themselves.

After walking down the steps, the two arrived outside The Cat's Tail.

Unlike usual, however, there were no drunkards gathered around. Instead, there were more cats than normal.

"Oh, I forgot to mention, something happened at The Cat's Tail, so it's been temporarily shut down by order of the Knights of Favonius and hasn't officially reopened yet. But since we're here to look for a cat, it shouldn't affect us."

"Shut down?"

Noelle's words surprised Bai Luo slightly.

In his memory, The Cat's Tail was the only tavern capable of challenging Angel's Share.

How could it be closed at a time like this?

"I don't know the exact details. I heard there was some kind of problem with the drinks. A lot of people fell unconscious and are still lying in the Cathedral of Favonius, receiving care from the sisters."

The reason Noelle knew about this was that when the Knights transferred the victims, she was one of the people responsible for carrying them.

Since she had volunteered for the task, she wasn't restricted by the special regulation the Knights had put in place just for her.

It was worth mentioning that while others carried one person between two people, she carried two by herself.

If she hadn't been worried about causing secondary injuries to the victims, she could've carried even more.

"A problem with the drinks? Unconscious?"

Hearing this, Bai Luo realized something.

Earlier, when he had saved Draff, the man had mentioned that because he couldn't find ingredients with a… rather questionable flavor, his daughter might end up disappointed.

So Bai Luo had casually given him a Sunsettia.

Now that he thought about it…

Even if Draff didn't believe that a Sunsettia could change the taste of alcohol, he probably still gave it to his daughter in the end.

Huh? How did Bai Luo know?

To cause an incident on this scale—large enough to knock people unconscious and force a wildly popular establishment like The Cat's Tail to shut down—aside from his own Sunsettia, he really couldn't think of anything else capable of pulling that off.

. . . . .
