Still inside the store, Christian had already filled his first cart to the point where there was no room left, so he brought over a second one and moved on to the snack section. He went through almost everything, picking up snacks with strange flavors, unfamiliar brands, and anything else that caught his eye, before finally moving to the produce section.
"Are the fruits and vegetables supposed to look like this?" Christian suddenly asked.
Most of the produce in front of him looked like it had seen better days. Some of it was wilted, some bruised, and some had clearly been sitting around far longer than they should have.
"With the current situation, growing and transporting produce has become much more difficult," one of the employees who heard him explained. "You could search the entire market street, and you wouldn't find anything better."
Christian nodded without saying anything and finally decided to take his mountain of purchases to the counter.
