Chapter 335 - Chapter 332 ~ Toneri Otsutsuki

One moment, Ryu and Akihiro had been standing in the quiet safety of their home; the next, the world reconstituted itself in a violent surge of golden light.

Ryu felt his feet strike solid stone, the jarring impact vibrating through his shins. They had materialised atop a massive, circular summoning platform that sat elevated in the centre of the hall. Around them, the brilliant columns of the summoning array in Taro Ōtsutsuki's chamber pulsed once with fading intensity before the geometric patterns carved into the floor.

"Welcome to the moon, Ryu Hamura, family member of Ryuken," Taro said.

Ryu returned the gesture. "Thank you for having us, Lord Taro."

Akihito tried to take a step and stumbled.

"Easy," Ryu said, gripping Akihiro's elbow.

Akihiro's hands moved in sign language, rapid and confused. —What—

"We're on the moon," Ryu explained, tightening his grip to anchor his brother. "The gravity here is only one-sixth of Earth's, so your weight won't feel right."

Akihiro's sightless eyes widened behind their closed lids. His fingers moved again. —The moon!!

Before Ryu could respond, Taro Ōtsutsuki spoke. "Not quite one-sixth. We adjust the natural lunar gravity—one-sixth of Earth's—up to point-nine G using a Tenseigan-powered device embedded in the palace foundation. It cycles—twelve hours at point-nine G, twelve hours at natural lunar gravity. We're currently in the adjusted phase."

Beside him, Kiyomizu Ōtsutsuki and several other village elders waited in silence.

Akihiro tested his weight, bouncing slightly on his toes. The movement felt strange—cushioned, delayed. His expression shifted from uncertainty to cautious wonder.

Ryu lifted his gaze, taking in their surroundings.

They saw massive stone architecture and metal pillars inside the moon. The hollow dome had an artificial light source made from Yin-yang chakra.

The atmosphere here was cleaner and silent , more silent then earth's. Even the air pressure was lower than Earth's. Thinner. Each breath felt shallow.

Ryu glanced at his brother. Akihiro's head tilted, listening to... nothing. The absolute silence pressed in. For someone who relied on hearing as much as Akihiro did, this must feel like sensory deprivation.

-[Time Remaining: 06:58:00]

Seven hours. After that, someone would notice their absence. Dan would check. Questions would be asked.

He needed to finish everything before then—meet Toneri, inspect the Tenseigan, return to Earth safely.

Ryu said, "We should get started."

Taro stepped forward, gesturing towards a corridor. "Before we proceed to the vessel, you are invited to dine at my home. There is someone who wishes to meet you both."

"We'd be honoured," Ryu said. "Though I should mention—we have limited time."

Taro nodded. "I'm aware. The dinner will be brief."

Taro led them through the moon's interior. Colourless buildings rose geometrically. The dome-shaped outer layers rose. In the inner districts, everything is identical and grid-organized.

They passed people—moon dwellers going about their daily routines. Ryu noted their reactions. All of them were curious.

Akihiro stayed close to Ryu. Ryu knew his brother would have questions later—hundreds of them.

Akihiro signed something and Ryu answered, "All will be answered shortly."

Akihiro nodded.

They arrived at Taro's residence. Puppet servants waited at the entrance. Rigid postures. Identical chakra signatures.

Taro led them inside.

The dining hall was large but modest. A low table with formal cushions was in the centre. Chakra constructs on the walls illuminate the space gently. Ryu noted the lack of electricity and appliances. Almost everyone is blind so no need for inventing lightning.

Two children stood near the entrance—one formal, the other quietly beside him. At the far end of the table, two women sat with serene expressions, observing the arrivals quietly.

The first child was Fukuro Ōtsutsuki. Taro's son. The second was Toneri Ōtsutsuki. Kiyomizu's son, Toneri.

"Fukuro, Toneri," Taro said. "These are visitors from Earth. Ryu Hamura and his brother, Akihiro." He gestured to the women. "This is my beloved wife."

Ryu, Akihiro and both younger boys bowed formally. Toneri's bow was perfect and synchronised, though he couldn't see.

Fukuro's gaze fixed on Ryu. "Is it true you came from the world below?"

Ryu nodded. "Yes."

Everyone took their places. Toneri settled beside Fukuro.

Puppet servants brought food—simple, elegantly presented dishes. Rice. Fish. Pickled vegetables. The aroma was familiar. They ate in comfortable silence at first. The meal was simple but well prepared.

The conversation flowed. Fukuro asked questions—about Earth, about ninja villages, about the nine great beasts.

Fukuro asked, "Are the tailed beasts real?"

"Yes," Ryu confirmed. "The Jinchūriki with the nine-tailed beast often visits my home. He's a kid around your age."

Fukuro's eyes widened. "Really?"

"Really."

"What will happen to Earth?" Fukuro asked suddenly. "You're a seer, aren't you? Father said so."

The table fell silent.

Ryu met the boy's gaze. "A great change."

"What kind of change?"

Taro interrupted, "Let's not talk about it. You kids are too young to meddle in the affairs of grown-ups."

"But he is a kid too," Fukuro protested.

Ryu looked at Toneri, who was silent but listening.

Throughout the meal, Ryu watched the family dynamics. Toneri ate carefully, using his chakra sense to navigate. His movements were precise—no fumbling, no mistakes. He even knows where forks and spoons are with his eyes closed. Ryu felt him releasing Yin and Yang chakra as sonar.

"He can sense us," Ryu realised. "Through chakra perception—the Yin-yang inner eye. His technique is advanced enough to track non-living things too, reading the shape of objects and the space around him."

But he didn't speak. Didn't participate.

"He's there physically but socially invisible."

It wasn't malicious exclusion. Just... habitual neglect. Even family unconsciously overlooked him.

Midway through the meal, during a pause in Fukuro's rapid-fire questions, Ryu deliberately addressed Toneri.

Ryu asked, "Toneri. What do you want to become in the future?"

The boy startled slightly. His head lifted, facing towards Ryu's voice.

A pause.

"I... want to help my father," Toneri said quietly.

His voice was soft. Uncertain. Not used to being addressed directly.

"That's a good goal," Ryu said. "But tell me—if you ever feel lonely, would you like to visit Earth? I could show you many new things."

Toneri's chakra signature brightened. A small shift, but noticeable. Warmth. Surprise.

"I... could?" he asked.

Ryu said, "Yes...Whenever you want."

Taro and Kiyomizu exchanged glances.

"Before I go, I brought gifts from Earth," Ryu said.

He offered the Game Boy to Fukuro. "This is a gaming device. It has several games loaded. I think you'll enjoy it."

Fukuro's eyes widened. He took it, examining the device.

Ryu held out the Walkman to Toneri, "For you."

Toneri's fingers explored the device, tracing the buttons and the textured edges. "What... is it?"

Ryu replied, "A music player…It plays songs."

Ryu helped Toneri put on the headphones, positioning them over his ears. Then he pressed play.

Silence.

Then music.

Soft instrumental—a traditional koto melody. Notes clear and haunting. Gentle. Peaceful. No lyrics. Just pure melody.

Ryu asked, "Do you like it?"

Toneri's head tilted, listening intently and smiled as he nodded and thought, "Father says the world below is corrupt... Filled with chaos and sin... But this... this sounds like peace... Like warmth."

Fukuro was engrossed in his Game Boy, guiding a pixelated snake across the screen. Digital beeps filled the air. Taro and Kiyomizu watched Toneri.

Ryu then held up the phones for everyone to see.

"These are communication devices. They allow you to speak with someone across great distances."

He handed phones to Taro and Kiyomizu, then gave two more to Fukuro and Toneri. Several spares remained in his hand.

"From Earth, only my number can reach this network," Ryu explained. "But you can call each other freely wherever the signal reaches. The entire moon is already covered. I'll prepare a mini modular tower for the remote islands you use for farming. Once installed, you'll be able to coordinate with your people on the island."

He placed the spare phones on the table. "These are extras. Distribute them to whoever needs to coordinate operations."

Taro nodded, collecting the phones.

Ryu turned to Akihiro. "Kiyomizu-sensei will train you while I do what I came for."

Akihiro's hands moved. —You're leaving me?

"You're in good hands. Kiyomizu-sensei is one of the moon's finest teachers."

Kiyomizu stepped forward. "I'll ensure he learns well."

Akihiro nodded, accepting.

Ryu thought, "The InstinctGPT seal's already loaded. He'll process weeks of training in hours. A few hours will get him up to speed for the next phase."

Ryu and Taro left to the task at hand… The Tenserigan Device.

"What will become of Toneri?" Taro asked softly.

"In this life, Toneri doesn't have to be alone. I promise to make him into a great man who sees the light."

Taro nodded slowly. "Thank you."

Ryu thought, "I need to start the bionic eye project. This project aims to provide a solution for Toneri's blindness, as well as for all the blind individuals throughout the shinobi world. I can use chakra just like Garra and his father use it for their [Third Eye Jutsu]... Let's think about it deeply when I return."

Ryu checked his internal clock.

-[Time Remaining: 05:45:00]

Just under six hours remaining.

"Come," Taro said. "I'll show you the heart of our civilisation."

They walked deeper into the palace. Corridors narrowed with each level. The air grew heavier. Pressure increasing. Security escalated—passive sensors became denser, more sophisticated. Barrier seals appeared, layered three-deep, each independently powered.

Taro placed his hand on each seal marker as they passed, barriers parting silently. Without him, these passages would be impassable.

"You'll be the first person from Earth to stand before the Tenseigan after Ryuken Hamura," Taro said.

The weight of that statement settled over Ryu. They descended deeper into the palace structure.

Finally, Taro paused before massive doors. He placed his hand on the seal. Chakra flared.

The doors opened and Ryu stepped through.

The chamber was unlike anything he'd ever seen.

Massive. Circular. The spherical chamber curved inward seamlessly. At its center hung the Tenseigan Energy Vessel—a massive golden sphere several metres in diameter, suspended in perfect equilibrium and not touching floor or ceiling. Surrounding it, rotating rings of metal orbited the sphere like planetary rings, their movement slow and hypnotic.

Ryu's breath caught the moment he crossed the threshold. The chakra density spiked—so high it felt like breathing liquid, each inhale heavy and thick.

"This is it. The heart of the moon civilisation. The machine that sustains the people here. If this fails, the moon colony dies."

He stepped forward, drawn towards the sphere. Couldn't look away.

As he got closer, details resolved. The etchings covering the golden surface weren't just decorative—they were functional. Circuits. Pathways. Logic gates.

"This isn't just a seal. It's a processor. A computational array designed to channel, regulate, and distribute chakra on a planetary scale. My theory is this computer amplifies the combined might of the Byakugan to the level of Tenseigan even if there is no real Tenseigan."

His hand reached out, drawn by compulsion stronger than caution.

Taro watched from behind, a slight smile on his face. "He is a sensor... Let's see his reaction..."

Ryu's fingers brushed the metallic surface.

-[WARNING: Foreign Chakra Detected]

His eyes widened. He froze.
