Page and Carter were at the settlement's lake, which was used for the various animals that were raised and used by them. What were they used for when all of them were automatons and only one of them even wore something remotely close to clothing? They were a settlement that grew from a small isolated village in the very heart of Reva's Southern Territory. How and why were their ancestors even able to get and settle down here? That was a mystery to everyone that just did not seem to matter, along with how others kept seeming to find their way here now too. Anyway, the animals were kept and cared for just as part of how things were, as despite having grown from a small isolated village to an isolated settlement, the lives of those within it had changed from their times as humans, but some things had not.
The raising, tending, and caring of animals had not changed. They just used a very small number of them for consumption at all. Only two automatons within the settlement were even seemingly capable of still eating and drinking in the first place. That was Page and Carter, as they were the only ones that ate and drank regularly, with Alya being the only one that cooked for them. She also seemed to be the only one who even still knew how to cook in the first place. The lack of cooking was not really felt elsewhere, as the settlement was originally such a small village that they did not have any restaurants or other places that prepared food originally.
As for what Page and Carter were doing at the lake at the moment. They were mostly just playing around, as they were just free to do what they wanted whenever. As Page only worked with Reva and Cami when they wanted her to or had something for her to do. Other than that, she basically just free to do whatever she wanted, as that how it was before the village became one of just automatons. Rather unique batch of automatons that were all within the domain of the unique Guardian.
They were also there for drink, as they were getting some water, as it did not matter what the water was nor what kind it was. It did not have to be safe for human consumption, given they were not human in the first place. If they could consume it, then they could drink it, as they had the ability to somehow filter the water and then just use what was not water for something else. Being an automaton meant they knew what they were; it does not mean they know how or why they are.
Page and Carter were just casually talking to each other; their heads were wet from having just dunked them in the lake to get some water to drink. That's when, all of a sudden, the automaton girl that Cami and Page were talking about some time earlier appeared. She was right there between them at that moment.
"What are you two doing?" she asked curiously.
Carter was shocked to see her, as he had heard a story about this automaton from Page and his mom. As well, she had caught the attention of Page, Cami, and Myne after all. Standing around staring at nothing at times as part of the settlement, yet not at the same time. She was clearly not like him and Page, nor Guardian like Reva either. So they were not sure just what she was, other than just someone that was now a part of the settlement like everyone else that got roboticized into an automaton here became.
Page, truly and completely shocked that someone just appeared like that from her point of view, had a much more drastic and shocking response to the strange automaton girl just appearing before them like this. So much so that she had a system crash and went offline for a moment. Lying face up in the lake, somehow floating on the lake's surface rather than sinking instead. After all, she was an automaton that was made of metal, but she was somehow floating.
"Is she okay?" the automaton girl asked.
"She's fine, as she overacts to things all the time," Carter said, sighing.
"So, did your sister get this from you all's mother?" she asked.
"We are not related, as she was merely raised with me by my mother. We have just always been friends since as long as either of us can remember, that all," he told her.
"Rrrrriiiigght," the girl said, accepting it but realizing that might be a reason they do not see each other as family despite being basically raised together by the same woman.
"Sani," she then said.
"Huh!?" Carter spoke.
"I am Sani," she spoke again.
Carter just nodded.
Sani then cocked her head sideways.
"I am..." she started again.
"You are Sani, I get that, but why are you here?" he asked.
Sani just shrugged her shoulders.
"I do not know, but can I join you two?" she asked.
Carter then looked at her for a moment, as there was something about the way she said what she did. It triggered something within him, as Page was floating beside him fully offline, thus she provided no help to him at the moment. Not that she might have been online, but she did shock him at times.
Though this was indeed different from what he was expecting. As the only ones who had probably the most knowledge on how things had really changed, everyone was still human to them now being automatons. That would be Page, Reva, and himself at the moment. They did not know everything, as there were still things that were even above them, according to how Reva put it to both of them. As Page just did not seem to care, as she knew but just was not acknowledging it seemingly. Carter and Reva were aware of that, which is why Alya, his mom, did not really fully get along with her old friends like she used to. Because she started hanging out with Cami and Myne a lot. Everyone who was under Reva's influence was the way they were because of how laidback and hands off he was, yet they still were. So, while it was subtle, the result of his influence did cause distance between those like Reva, Cami, Myne, Page, and himself.
