Once Felix got to Mount Fujikasane, he looked at the wisteria flowers and prepared himself for the Final Selection. He remembered the Final Selection from the anime and how Tanjiro managed to survive.
Felix then took a quick glance at the other people competing. He knew that for the next seven nights, these people would be along side him.
"I'll make Urokodaki proud, and become a demon slayer" he thought to himself.
After a short moment, the Final Selection had began. Felix had a plan in mind, fight as minimal demons as possible. This was because he had never even come across a demon before. The area was silent. The air was foggy and the moon's light beamed down. Fortunately for Felix, the first night came to a close with no encounters from any demons.
Unfortunately, night two was nothing like night one. As soon as the sun went down, a demon appeared in front of him. The demon's tongue fell out its mouth. It had big horns on either side of its head and veins popping out of everywhere. Its eyes were bright red. Felix was struck with fear but then suddenly got a vision. A number of images flashed before his eyes. These images included his own childhood, the Yoriichi being and that same grandfather clock again.
In that moment, Felix somehow gained motivation and gripped his blade tighter. He focused his vision so hard that he eventually started to see the transparent world, just like Yoriichi told him he would be able to do. He then took a deep breath.
Suddenly, the demon jumped towards him opening its mouth. Felix then used the transparent world to predict the demon's move. This made him visualise the opening thread. Swiftly, Felix exhaled and performed water breathing first form, water surface slash, decapitating the demon.
"That was so awesome! I felt just like Tanjiro!" he thought to himself in excitement as he watched the demon disintegrate.
Luckily for Felix, for the next few nights he had no encounters with any demons. It eventually became the seventh and last night of Final Selection. He wasn't feeling scared anymore and in fact felt bored from not being able to come across any other demons. However, this was all about to change.
Suddenly, a massive demon fell from a tree above him. It's teeth were massive and its spine was exposed.
"I AM THE SPINE DEMON, YOU BRAT! AND I AM FEELING HUNGRY" it yelled out in the direction of Felix. Unlike his first encounter with a demon, Felix was ready to fight and attempted to focus his vision to trigger the transparent world.
The demon launched an attack out of its back that took shape of a spinal cord. Felix barely managed to dodge, slightly cutting his face.
"I must quickly use water surface slash" he thought to himself. Felix ran forward with pace and tried to look for the opening thread. However, the demon reacted quicker and launched another attack. This time, the attack hit Felix's arm with force, chopping it off. The demon then let out a loud laugh. Felix was in a panic, he was losing too much blood from his lost limb.
"Is this it already? Have a failed Yoriichi? Am I going to die?!" Felix thought to himself as the blood loss eventually made him pass out. While passed out, the vision of the grandfather clock appeared again. Although this time, Felix went up to it in his trance.
"What the hell are you?" He mumbled as he reached out to touch the clock with his pointer finger. As soon as he made contact, the list of breathing styles Yoriichi tried to pull up in his vision appeared again. This time, instead of no breathing styles being listed, a new one was there.
"Time breathing?" Felix said in confusion. He selected the option and then immediately woke back up in Final Selection. A wave of energy hit him as he inhaled in the same way he would when performing a breathing technique.
"Huh? Still alive?" The demon pondered. Felix stood up and swung his sword in the air.
"Time breathing: first form, slash of reversal"
Suddenly, Felix's arm was back like it was before, as if nothing had happened
"IMPOSSIBLE! ONLY DEMONS CAN REGENERATE" the Spine Demon exclaimed in anger.
"You idiot, I didn't regenerate, I simply reversed time by 10 seconds" Felix explained with a grin on his face. He then activated the transparent world, leaped up into the air, and decapitated the demon in a flash.
As the demon started to disappear, Felix began to contemplate how he did what he just did.
"Time breathing? What even is that? Whatever, it helped me stay alive so who cares, plus I wonder what else I can do with this" thought Felix. Before he knew it, the sun started to rise and Final Slection had at last finished.
As Felix reached the starting point to greet Kiriya and Kanata Ubuyashiki, he noticed only one other demon slayer had completed the test with him.
"How unfortunate…" he thought to himself and he walked forward.
The other demon slayer was a girl, blonde hair and shorter than Felix.
"Excuse me, sorry to bother but congratulations on completing final selection" Felix said trying to get her attention.
"Oh, thanks!" She said as she turned around and smiled. Felix was lovestruck.
"Uh-I-uh yeah I uh" he said stuttering. The girl then let out a laugh and reached her hand out expecting a handshake.
"My name is Paige, nice to meet you"
Felix hesitated for a moment, before shaking her hand.
"Felix" he replied back "How did you end up taking final selection?"
"Oh I had a really weird dream then got in contact with this old guy called Jigoro Kuwajima, you heard of him?" Asked Paige.
"Yeah I actually have heard of him haha" replied Felix.
"You know, it feels weird getting trained by someone you know will die soon" she said. Felix froze for a moment.
"Wait, how could you know that? Don't tell me… are you also not from this world?" Asked Felix
