The Insects on the shore relaxed when they heard this. After hearing that the Eddy Scorpionfish Ant King was not dead yet, they all perked up and went on alert again, quietly waiting.
Late at night,
the Mud Beetle King dived into the mire again to investigate.
Still alive, but barely breathing.
In the latter half of the night,
there was movement under the mud pit. The silt churned, and a brownish-red Giant Mantis of dual Water and Earth Systems drilled out, the metallic Catching Feet skewering an intact Ant King corpse.
