Alex picked up her large egg and slowly, calmly walked past the Vespera siblings. The numerous pairs of eyes followed her every movement, their ragged breaths the only sound aside from her soft, consistent footsteps.
"Stop." Cold and unfeeling, yet carrying a hint of some foreign emotion Alex was unable to decipher, Tarius held out his hand.
She was barely a step away from the opening in the wall that somewhat resembled an elevator, yet only then had she been asked to stop. It was like they were mocking her. Swallowing the bad premonition stuck in her throat, Alex, in the same languid manner, turned to face them.
"How may I help you?"
Their eyes—each and every pair—looked different. Truthfully, the calculating wickedness was always hidden in their eyes, though most of the time it was cleverly buried by other emotions. Never had each of them resembled their father as much as they all did now.
