Chapter 11 - Festival of shadows.

Episode 9: Festival of Shadows

The town of Sownsville glowed with lanterns.

Paper lights floated above the streets, flickering like tiny stars trapped in glass. People dressed in symbolic costumes, some wearing masks, others carrying candles.

It was the Festival of Remembrance.

A night where families honored loved ones who had passed away.

But while the town celebrated, the sisters had work to do.

Scene 1: Emergency Call

Sam's communicator beeped.

She picked it up immediately.

"Sam here."

A voice responded urgently.

"We received a distress call. A man is trapped on the collapsed bridge outside town. All rescue operatives are currently in conference with the mayor."

Sam glanced at Sandra and Sarah.

"So it's just us?"

"Yes. You're the closest unit available."

Sam nodded.

"We're on it."

She turned to her sisters.

"Mission."

Sandra grabbed her jacket.

"Collapsed bridge?"

"Yeah."

Sarah followed quietly.

Scene 2: The Collapsed Bridge

The sisters arrived quickly.

The bridge stretched across the dark valley, broken in the middle. Pieces of metal hung dangerously.

Sam scanned the area.

"He should be here."

Sandra activated her tracking device.

"I'm not picking up anything."

Sarah looked around.

"Maybe he fell?"

They searched carefully.

Ten minutes passed.

Nothing.

Sam frowned.

"This doesn't make sense."

Sandra crouched near the edge.

"No footprints. No signs of struggle."

Sarah looked uneasy.

"...Was this a trap?"

Sam looked around again.

The wind whispered through the broken metal.

"...Let's head back."

Scene 3: Car Breakdown

Halfway back to town, their car suddenly jerked.

Then stopped.

Sandra frowned.

"That's not good."

Sam tried restarting the engine.

Nothing.

Sarah sighed.

"We're stuck?"

Sandra checked the system.

"Looks like it."

Sam leaned back in her seat.

"...Well, we did plan that camping trip."

Sandra looked at her.

"You're serious?"

Sam smiled slightly.

"We're already out here."

Sarah nodded.

"I think we need the rest."

Sandra sighed.

"...Fine. Camping it is."

Scene 4: Campfire

A small fire crackled in the night.

The festival lights from town glowed faintly in the distance.

The sisters sat around the fire.

For once… no missions.

No threats.

Just silence.

Sarah spoke first.

"Do you ever wish we were just normal?"

Sam smiled faintly.

"Sometimes."

Sandra adjusted her glasses.

"I don't think we'd survive being normal."

They laughed.

Sam stared at the flames.

"I miss Mom and Dad… sometimes."

Sarah leaned closer.

"I know."

Sandra nodded quietly.

"We're still here though."

The silence returned, softer this time.

Scene 5: Scary Stories

Sandra leaned forward.

"Want to hear something creepy?"

Sam smirked.

"Go on."

Sandra lowered her voice.

"There's a legend… about a ghost that appears near broken bridges—"

Suddenly Sarah gasped loudly.

Sam jumped.

"Sarah!"

Sarah laughed.

"You should see your face!"

Sandra shook her head.

"That was unfair."

Sam smirked.

"Oh… it's on."

They began playfully pranking each other.

Sarah hid behind a tree.

Sandra made fake noises.

Sam pretended to see something in the dark.

Eventually, they burst into laughter.

Scene 6: Apology

The laughter faded.

Sam looked at Sandra.

"About yesterday…"

Sandra nodded.

"I'm sorry too."

Sarah smiled.

"So we're good?"

Sam and Sandra nodded.

"Yeah."

The fire crackled gently.

Scene 7: Pickup

Headlights appeared in the distance.

A car approached slowly.

The driver stepped out.

"Miss Bani sent me."

Sam smiled.

"Right on time."

They packed up quietly.

As they drove back, the town lights shimmered in the distance.

End Credit Scene

A dark room.

Laspa stood silently.

Amanda stood before him, nervous.

"You failed."

Amanda clenched her fists.

"I just needed more time—"

"No."

Laspa's voice was cold.

"You've become a liability."

Amanda swallowed.

"You can't just—"

Laspa stepped closer.

"I already have."

A shadow moved behind him.

"A hitman has been assigned."

Amanda's eyes widened.

"You wouldn't…"

Laspa turned away.

"Don't reveal my identity."

The shadow nodded.

Amanda stood frozen.

Laspa walked into darkness.

"They're becoming a problem…"

Fade to black.
