Bai Qingzhu and Xiao Lijin both glanced at him. The man clearly had no intention of leaving and was preparing to keep an eye on them. Bai Qingzhu and Xiao Lijin exchanged a look and didn't speak again.
Still, they both knew perfectly well what was going on.
The two of them, bored with nothing to do, chatted about things unrelated to the palace, and even used standard English, so these people could listen as they pleased and report to Pete however they liked.
After about ten minutes or so, Queen Elizabeth came over, and surprisingly, Pete was with her.
Queen Elizabeth said apologetically, "I've kept you waiting."
Bai Qingzhu smiled. "Not at all, we got to treat it as a break. And this is…?"
Queen Elizabeth introduced, "This is a good friend of mine, and also the Home Minister. You can just call him Pete."
Bai Qingzhu nodded to him. "Pete."
Pete still looked at her with eyes full of hostility.
He had just reached out his hand when Xiao Lijin's hand extended toward him first.
