Chapter 132 - When Iron Laughs

North did not break when Jason's warning came through the comms.

Marcus only lifted his shield a little higher and looked down the blood-slick lane ahead as the next wave of Grey-Tusks pushed through the fractured freight roads. Their crystal-plated heads rose and fell through the dust like the backs of charging siege beasts, heavy enough that every step made the loose rubble around them chatter.

"So the monkey had more teeth," Aisyah said, rolling the spear once through her fingers. "That just means we pull them out too."

Kade adjusted his grip on the sword and gave a short nod. "I'm good with that."

Marcus planted himself in the middle of the lane and set his shield. The dark metal face caught the dead light overhead and threw it back in dull, battered flashes. "Same pattern," he said. "Don't get greedy."

The first Grey-Tusk hit them in a low, furious charge.

Marcus met it head-on.

"Bastion Hold."
