Chapter 329 Worn Out
Nathaniel slowly nodded. At this point, he just wanted everything to be over and done with; he couldn't handle anything else. He was worn out and tired. He wasn't sure what was happening and felt as though this might all be a dream. He lacked the courage to wake up and discover whether it was real or not. With the strange voices around him and the unfamiliarity of it all, his doubts about the truth of the situation and the girl's identity grew, leaving him increasingly worried that he was being held captive.
It didn't seem like Aleshia, the girl in front of him, was good in the head. But neither was he, it seemed. He had heard the voice she claimed to hear, which she had been calling Lucia. While he remained skeptical about the idea of the hat being a sentient creature, he decided not to dwell on it. Instead, he focused on examining his surroundings to distract himself and keep his mind off things, hoping he wouldn't be stuck in the cot forever. As he moved around in his limited capacity, he continued to feel aches and pains in his joints and muscles, which supported Aleshia's story of him injuring himself when he first woke up.
After enduring the pain for a while, he finally stopped and began to breathe heavily. His small struggle had ended, and he rested on the cot until sleep overtook him, which felt easier than it ever had before. He wondered if this was because he was recovering or if he was merely experiencing a fragment of a dream.
"Well, that was something, wasn't it, Aleshia?" Lucia said pointedly as she hopped off Aleshia's head to see how Nathaniel was doing.
"I believe it was mostly your doing that frightened him so much. But anyway, what do we have planned for today?" Aleshia asked, finishing with a question.
Lucia mulled over the plans in her mind while simultaneously checking Nathaniel's body. "Besides teaching the kids, there's really nothing else to do other than going outside, preparing another dish, or asking Daniel for another quest," she suggested.
Aleshia walked to the door, continuing their conversation. She felt the morning drowsiness had finally worn off and was now fully awake and ready to make decisions. As she left the room, she was surprised to see two familiar faces waiting outside.
"Oh, hey! I haven't seen you since our last trip outside. How have you been?" Tristan greeted with a smile. The person beside him waved to Aleshia. When she took a closer look, she realized it was Rey.
