At Federation X.
Akashi stood in the doorway of the observation corridor for several seconds, watching the quiet ruin with the detached calm of someone observing weather after a storm.
Then he began walking toward the platform.
His footsteps were slow, Almost casual.
As if the event that had just unfolded was nothing more than a small inconvenience in the evening.
But before he could reach the platform controls, Tenka rushed past him.
Her footsteps struck the steel flooring with sharp urgency.
The elevator platform descended immediately, lowering her into the destroyed testing chamber. The mechanical arms of the observation system adjusted position automatically, rotating sensors and diagnostic scanners toward the fallen machine.
Tenka dropped beside the ruined construct.
For several seconds she simply stared.
Her hand moved slowly across the machine's armor, fingers brushing the edges of the punctured metal.
Her breathing grew uneven.
Tenka, voice shaking between disbelief and intellectual offense –
''How is that even possible… how can an outcome like this even exist inside a system that was mathematically sealed against failure… because this machine was not designed to lose, it was engineered to evolve faster than the opponent's capacity to escalate, meaning every second of combat should have expanded its predictive and structural superiority until the enemy inevitably collapsed under the weight of its own biological limitation.''
Her fingers pressed harder against the metal plating.
Tenka, eyes wide as the implications unfolded in her mind –
''This unit was supposed to grow beyond anything it encountered… that was the entire point of the adaptive core, an algorithm that continuously rewrites its own architecture based on incoming combat data until the opponent becomes statistically irrelevant… so what I am seeing here should not merely be improbable, it should be structurally impossible.''
Akashi leaned casually against the railing above.
For a moment he simply listened to her analysis like someone listening to distant rain.
Then he spoke.
Akashi –
''Well… it did adapt.''
Tenka froze slightly.
Akashi pushed himself away from the railing and began walking down the staircase toward the chamber floor.
Akashi, scratching his chin thoughtfully as if reviewing a minor engineering problem –
''Your machine kept evolving the entire time we were fighting, I could feel the adjustments every few milliseconds… the timing shifts, the counterforce recalculations, the changes in joint reinforcement… it was actually pretty impressive to watch.''
He stopped beside the ruined construct and nudged one of its shattered limbs lightly with his foot.
Akashi –
''But I think what I just did created a gap so large that even something designed to grow infinitely simply couldn't climb fast enough to close it.''
Tenka slowly stood up.
Her eyes locked onto him.
Akashi rolled his shoulders slightly, the torn remains of his shirt shifting against his body.
Akashi, almost absent-mindedly –
''I call that form the Asura State.''
He said it the way someone might mention an old habit.
Akashi –
''I've only used it once before, and even that time I wasn't really sure how far it could go because the fight ended before the state reached its full momentum.''
He tilted his head slightly while examining the robot again.
Akashi –
''It's not exactly what I'd call my trump card… but it turns out it's pretty damn strong.''
Tenka stared at him like someone trying to measure the depth of an ocean using a ruler.
Akashi rubbed his chin again.
Akashi –
''Actually now that I think about it, there was probably another way to deal with your machine without using that state.''
Tenka's eye twitched.
Akashi continued as if thinking aloud.
Akashi –
''If I had drawn the Red Energy Sword earlier in the fight, I might've been able to cut through the adaptive core before it started accelerating its growth cycle.''
He shrugged.
Akashi –
''But that doesn't really matter anymore.''
He spread his hands slightly.
Akashi –
''So… do you have any other tests you want to run?''
Tenka's expression shifted immediately.
Anger flooded into her voice.
Tenka –
''NO, because the question you should be asking yourself right now is how exactly I am supposed to justify to an entire research command structure that the single most expensive adaptive war machine ever built has just been reduced to scrap metal because one man decided to demonstrate what he casually describes as a "pretty strong form."''
She gestured violently toward the ruined robot.
Tenka –
''This machine represented decades of research into predictive warfare and artificial evolution… its purpose was to become unbeatable through continuous growth… and you destroyed it in under a minute.''
Akashi raised both hands calmly.
Akashi –
''Hey, don't look at me like that.''
He pointed toward her.
Akashi –
''You were the one who asked me to fight it.''
His voice remained relaxed.
Akashi –
''And besides, if I hadn't finished it when I did, the adaptive loop would have kept accelerating until the entire facility started collapsing under the energy output.''
His eyes narrowed slightly.
Akashi –
''That includes you.''
Tenka paused.
Her anger hesitated for a moment.
Tenka, crossing her arms slowly –
''In some technical sense… that statement is not incorrect.''
She stepped closer to him.
Tenka –
''But you are speaking as if I entered this situation without my own contingency measures.''
Her gaze sharpened.
Tenka –
''Did you truly believe that I would construct something like this without also preparing my own trump cards?''
Akashi's grin slowly spread across his face.
Akashi –
''So what you're saying…''
He stepped closer.
Akashi –
''…is that the real opponent in this facility wasn't the robot.''
His eyes gleamed with excitement.
Akashi –
''It was you.''
Tenka met his gaze without flinching.
Tenka –
''Then allow me to ask you a very simple question.''
Her voice grew colder.
Tenka –
''Was the contract you made with me nothing more than a convenient lie, or are you simply not man enough to keep the word you gave when we first met?''
Irritation flickered across Akashi's expression.
Akashi –
''I never said I would kill you.''
His voice dropped slightly.
Akashi –
''But hurting you…''
He took a step forward.
Akashi –
''That is definitely still an option.''
Tenka closed the distance between them without hesitation.
Their bodies were now only centimeters apart.
She leaned forward slightly, her chest brushing against his.
Tenka –
''Then do it.''
For a brief moment the air between them felt heavy.
Akashi moved instantly.
His hand shot forward.
His fingers closed around her neck.
Exactly like the first moment they had met.
But this time—
The grip was noticeably lighter.
Tenka immediately felt it.
Her eyes flickered.
Akashi held her there for a few seconds, studying her expression with curious amusement.
Then he released her.
Tenka stepped back slowly.
She adjusted the collar of her uniform.
A faint blush crept across her cheeks before she turned slightly away from him.
Tenka, shaking her head softly –
''You are an incredibly strange man.''
She glanced back at him.
Tenka –
''No… calling you strange might actually be an insult to strange people.''
Her lips curved into a small, reluctant smile.
Tenka –
''Even among Yin users… you are something abnormal.''
Then Akashi suddenly burst into loud, uncontrollable laughter.
The sound echoed through the broken test chamber, bouncing off metal walls and shattered glass like a strange celebration of chaos.

Federation Y
Kanji stood near the entrance platform.
His posture was disciplined, but tension lived inside every muscle of his body, like tightly coiled wire waiting for a release that might never fully come.
Across from him stood Fujinaka Inegumi.
A tall man with the quiet composure of deep water. His uniform sleeves were rolled to his elbows, revealing forearms marked with faintly glowing sigils—symbols that curved and spiraled like currents caught mid-motion.
They belonged to Kappa (Κ).
For several long seconds neither of them spoke.
Only the distant hum of water circulating through reinforced pipes echoed softly through the chamber.
Finally Fujinaka stepped forward slightly, the faint moisture in the air gathering along his skin as if responding instinctively to his presence.
Fujinaka Inegumi –
''Every test you have endured since arriving in this facility was designed to measure how far your abilities could stretch under pressure, but the truth is that the challenges themselves were never the true purpose of those trials, This fight is in the other hand!.''
His eyes studied Kanji carefully.
Fujinaka Inegumi –
''You were told that if you performed well enough you would eventually meet the person responsible for the destruction of your family, and I imagine that promise has been guiding your decisions with the quiet persistence of a voice whispering behind every step.''
Kanji remained silent for a moment.
His gaze lowered slightly.
When he finally spoke, his voice carried something heavy inside it.
Kanji –
''The more time I spent here, the more obvious it became that the story you told me wasn't meant to lead me to truth.''
He looked up.
Kanji –
''It was meant to make sure I kept walking.''
Kanji continued.
Kanji –
''You told me I would eventually meet the man who destroyed my family, but the reality is that none of you actually know who that person is, and even if you did, you would never risk giving me that information while I still belong to your system.''
A faint sadness crossed his expression.
Kanji –
''But the strange thing is… that realization doesn't make me angry anymore.''
He inhaled slowly.
Kanji –
''Because even if you never show me where he is, the moment I started understanding this world I realized something simple.''
His eyes darkened slightly.
Kanji –
''The person responsible for that night still exists somewhere, i just have to beat up each and every yin user to find him.''
Fujinaka listened without interrupting.
The older man exhaled slowly, almost thoughtfully.
The moisture in the chamber subtly shifted.
Fujinaka Inegumi –
''Understanding manipulation does not mean you have escaped it.''
His posture lowered slightly.
Fujinaka Inegumi –
''This final examination exists to determine whether the pain inside you is enough to survive against most yin users.''
Then Fujinaka raised one hand calmly.
The water pipes surrounding the chamber vibrated faintly.
Fujinaka Inegumi –
''The rules for this test are extremely simple.''
His voice remained composed.
Fujinaka Inegumi –
''If I am knocked unconscious… or if I die… the test ends immediately.''
For a brief moment the air seemed to tighten around those words.
Then Fujinaka's eyes sharpened slightly.
Fujinaka Inegumi –
''However, I am informing you of those conditions only for the sake of formality.''
A faint smile appeared.
Not arrogant.
Fujinaka Inegumi –
''Because neither of those outcomes will happen.''
The circulating water inside the chamber pipes began to move faster.
Fujinaka Inegumi –
''You are strong for your age, Kanji… stronger than most candidates we have ever evaluated.''
His gaze hardened.
Fujinaka Inegumi –
''But defeating someone who has spent decades mastering the flow of yin is not something you are capable of accomplishing yet.''
Kanji listened quietly.
Kanji –
''Sometimes I try to imagine what my life would have looked like if that night never happened.''
For a moment he paused.
Kanji –
''But imagining that life doesn't change the reality that the one I have now was created by someone else's decision.''
His fists slowly tightened.
Kanji –
''So the only thing left for me to do… is become strong enough that when I finally meet the person responsible… they will understand exactly what they created.''
The chamber became completely silent.
Fujinaka watched him carefully.
Then he nodded once.
Fujinaka Inegumi –
''Very well.''
He lowered his stance.
The sigils along his arms shimmered faintly as condensation gathered across his skin.
Fujinaka Inegumi –
''Show me.''
His body leaned forward slightly.
The sadness in his eyes did not disappear.
It simply compressed inward.
Then—
He moved.
The floor beneath his feet shattered from the sudden release of force.
Kanji launched forward.
The sonic barrier detonated behind him with a violent shockwave.
Fujinaka's eyes widened.
He barely had time to shift his stance.
Kanji's fist collided with his torso.
The impact exploded through the chamber like artillery.
Fujinaka's body was launched backward at catastrophic speed.
He slammed into the titanium wall with a thunderous metallic crash that bent the reinforced plating inward.
Dust, smoke, and fragments of shattered flooring erupted into the air.
For several seconds the chamber disappeared inside a cloud of gray haze.
Then slowly—
The smoke began to fade.
Fujinaka's body was embedded deep into the titanium wall.
His head hung forward slightly.
