Chapter 90: Lucky Me, I Guess?
An hour later*
"Okay, everything set and ready?" I ask Momoyo, ignoring the fact that Fate Lust is still badly injured from the punishments the Sefirot, City of Calamity, inflicted on her hours ago. "Because once we start, we can't stop. We'll have to pull out of this world ASAP before things go bad."
"Yup! Got the bag of fruits!" Momoyo holds up a sack filled with various fruits Alucard stole earlier to restock on food supplies.
"Right. Alucard, get ready to search through the pile for any Devil Fruits." I said to Alucard, who had just finished ordering the souls under her command to repair the last remaining hole in the Flying Dutchman.
"Will do, Master." Alucard nods in my direction as she stands on the wooden railing, completely unconcerned by the possibility of falling over the side of the ship.
I adjust the crystal monocle over my right eye before finally turning my attention to Fate Lust. Reaching out with my left hand, I grab hold of her and activate the authority of Loss of Control.
Her mind immediately goes blank.
I take advantage of that brief moment of weakness to apply Blind Stupidity, causing her eyes to grow dull and unfocused. Then, before she can recover, the authority of Deceit from the Error Pathway takes effect.
False thoughts begin slipping into the gaps in her mind, disguising themselves as her own. Her memories and perception twist just enough for her to accept the Deception without question, leaving her unable to tell that anything has been altered.
The Spirituality within both the Fool Pathway and Error Pathway begins draining rapidly with every passing second as I force Fate Lust to use her authority over this world's luck.
Under my control, countless coincidences begin occurring across the world. Devil Fruit users die through accidents, battles, betrayals, and other circumstances, regardless of whether they would have become important later on. With each death, I twist their Devil Fruits' circulation through Fate Lust's luck, forcing them to reappear among the pile of ordinary fruits inside the sack Momoyo is holding.
Within a minute, 20 specific Devil Fruits appear before me.
For the Fool Pathway, the Hobby-Hobby Fruit.
For the Error Pathway, the Memo-Memo Fruit.
For the Door Pathway, the Door-Door Fruit.
For the Visionary Pathway, the Age-Age Fruit.
For the Sun Pathway, the Glint-Glint Fruit.
For the White Tower Pathway, the Brain-Brain Fruit.
For the Darkness Pathway, the Calm-Calm Fruit.
For the Death Pathway, the Revive-Revive Fruit.
For the Twilight Giant Pathway, the Strong-Strong Fruit.
For the Red Priest Pathway, the Flame-Flame Fruit.
For the Demoness Pathway, the Love-Love Fruit.
For the Hermit Pathway, the Book-Book Fruit.
For the Paragon Pathway, the Munch-Munch Fruit.
For the Mother Pathway, the Woods-Woods Fruit.
For the Moon Pathway, the Horm-Horm Fruit.
For the Abyss Pathway, the Venom-Venom Fruit.
For the Chained Pathway, the String-String Fruit.
For the Black Emperor Pathway, the Op-Op Fruit.
For the Justiciar Pathway, the Whip-Whip Fruit.
And lastly, for the Wheel of Fortune Pathway, the Mark-Mark Fruit.
20 Devil Fruits, each one purposefully chosen to correspond with one of the Pathways I need.
I quickly store each Devil Fruit inside the Card of Blasphemy corresponding to its Pathway. The moment the last one is secured, I kick Fate Lust back into the Sefirot: City of Calamity before she has a chance to recover from what I did to her.
"Alright, time to leave. I've killed enough important people here that a lot of others are definitely going to be extremely pissed once they find out what happened to them and their Devil Fruits." I said to Momoyo and Alucard. "Get the Flying Dutchman moving. I'm taking the whole ship with us."
"All hands on deck! No time to waste, get moving!" Alucard shouts at the crew of souls.
The deck erupts into frantic activity. Ropes are hauled tight, sails are released, and the helm is thrown into position as the dead crew rushes to their stations without hesitation. Boots and spectral footsteps pound across the planks while orders are barked from one end of the Flying Dutchman to the other.
The ship groans beneath us as it finally begins to surge forward.
"Faster!" Alucard snaps. "We need to be gone before anyone realizes what's happened!"
"All influence not under my control is Prohibited!" I shout, burning through the last of the Spirituality within the Justiciar Pathway.
Without wasting another second, I activate the Door's Uniqueness and temporarily seize the concept of Doors itself, forcing open a portal to another universe directly in front of the Flying Dutchman. The opening will only last for a few seconds.
The ship immediately charges toward it.
Halfway through, I feel the Spirituality within the Door Pathway suddenly empty out. I expected this.
Using Historical Void Borrowing from the Fool Pathway, I borrow energy from my own past self, causing the Spirituality within every Pathway to surge back to its peak for the next few minutes.
"Viewing the Flying Dutchman and anyone aboard it is Prohibited!"
Once again, the Spirituality within the Justiciar Pathway plummets toward empty as the second Prohibition takes effect.
The moment the Flying Dutchman's stern clears the threshold, I stop sustaining the Door. With nothing left holding the passage open, the portal snaps shut almost instantly behind us, severing the connection to the One Piece universe before anything can follow.
The Flying Dutchman sails onward into an entirely new universe.
"Ahhh?! Where in the world are we?!" Bon Clay shrieks, throwing both arms high above his head as he spins dramatically across the deck of the Flying Dutchman. "What is happening?! Why are we sailing through the sky?! This is absolutely not how ships are supposed to work!" He flutters his hands beside his face before rushing toward the railing with almost dance-like steps. Leaning over, he takes one look at the endless stretch of open air beneath the ship.
His entire body freezes.
"WE'RE GOING TO DIEEE!" Bon Clay launches himself backward, clutching his cheeks as he kicks one leg into the air and twirls away from the railing. "Such a cruel fate! To survive everything else only to fall magnificently from the heavens!"
"I honestly forgot he was even here with us." Momoyo glances over at Bon Clay before looking back at me. "Are you the one keeping this ship afloat? Because if not, I don't think Bon Clay over there would even be able to run around the deck without gravity taking over. Let alone the rest of us." She glances over the side of the Flying Dutchman.
"No, that would be me." Alucard smirks at Momoyo, causing the latter's right eyebrow to twitch in irritation. "I can keep this ship flying as long as I want, easily."
"Go land somewhere no one is around." I order Alucard as I feel the Spirituality within the Justiciar Pathway decreasing, only seconds away from running out completely.
With no time to spare, I use Historical Void Borrowing once again, drawing Spirituality from my past self to restore what I've spent and keep both Prohibitions active for a little longer.
"I don't think that's a good idea, Chikao." Momoyo said without looking back at me, still leaning slightly over the side of the ship as she studied the ground below. "There's no water anywhere in sight. Just land... and a whole lot of buildings."
"Wait, what?" I quickly move beside Momoyo and look over the side of the ship.
Even from this height, I can clearly make out buildings stretching across the land below, with no water anywhere in sight.
"Ah, crap... Alucard, find us somewhere safe to land!" I turn my head and shout toward her. "We can't keep flying around like this. The longer we're up here, the more likely someone is to notice us, and I can't keep burning through Spirituality just to hide the ship forever! And somebody get Bon Clay to shut up before one of us, mostly me, knocks him out before he does something stupid!"
Alucard appears beside Bon Clay in an instant and chops the back of his neck, knocking him out cold before he can make another sound.
She turns back toward me and casually gives me a thumbs-up, looking far too pleased with how quickly she solved the problem.
"Nice job, Alucard. Now land us somewhere—never mind. You somehow found a lake." I stare in disbelief as Alucard sends the Flying Dutchman into a steep descent toward a small lake hidden between towering cliffs on three sides.
The hull groans as the ship drops lower, the wind whipping across the deck while the sails snap violently overhead. The lake rushes up beneath us until the Flying Dutchman slams into the water hard enough to send a massive spray surging outward in every direction. The entire ship lurches beneath our feet before rocking violently from side to side.
Water crashes against the surrounding cliffs as the ship finally settles into the lake.
The only open side leads toward a narrow beach, leaving us almost completely enclosed and hidden from view.
Luckily, there isn't anyone on the beach. Otherwise, they would've just witnessed a massive ship dropping out of the sky and crashing into the lake.
That would've been especially troublesome now that the Spirituality within the Justiciar Pathway is completely drained again, leaving me unable to maintain the Prohibitions any longer.
Historical Void Borrowing can only be used so many times, so it's better to save it for when I truly need it later today, especially when I still know almost nothing about this new universe.
I look around the lake and notice how far the afternoon has already progressed, the sun steadily moving across the sky.
I should probably get moving soon. If I'm lucky, using today's adventuring might lead me to another Uniqueness, a powerful Sealed Artifact, or something along those lines before the day is over.
"Alucard, scout the area and take note of anything important. Momoyo, guard the ship if you want, or tag along with Alucard. Do whatever. I'm going inside for a bit to handle the usual."
Without waiting for a response, I quickly make my way toward the log cabin on the deck.
Once inside, I shut the door behind me and immediately begin performing the familiar ritual. A few moments later, my surroundings shift as I enter Sefirah Castle.
The 22 Cards of Blasphemy materialize around me, hovering in a wide circle.
Before activating the adventuring, however, I quickly use Computational Divination. I need as much information as possible about the future of this new universe: what kind of dangers await me, what events are likely to unfold, and, most importantly, what type of Fate I'll be dealing with here.
Streams of information begin sorting themselves across the laptop screen as it calculates the infinite possibilities ahead.
30 minutes later*
After exiting Sefirah Castle, I grab one of the Cards of Blasphemy and have it eject what I obtained from the recent adventuring.
An ordinary-looking die drops into my hand, each face marked with red pips.
The Die of Probability, the Uniqueness of the Wheel of Fortune Pathway.
A Grade 0 Sealed Artifact with living characteristics, and normally an uncontrollable one at that.
Or at least, it should be.
The moment it settles into my palm, I can sense its complete submission toward me. It even goes out of its way to keep the six facing upward, subtly shifting whenever my hand moves, as if desperately trying to avoid rolling anything other than a six.
"Huh."
