Chapter 57 - A Name Buried in Ashes

The afternoon settled peacefully over Rosewood.

Inside Steel Medical Center...

The morning rush had finally eased.

Patients rested quietly in their rooms.

The corridors were calmer.

From the pediatric ward, children's laughter drifted through the air.

Celina smiled as Daniel proudly held up another drawing.

"Look!"

"This one has Mr. Steel smiling."

She laughed.

"You've become very good at drawing."

Daniel grinned.

"He smiles because of you."

Her cheeks warmed.

Before she could answer...

Emily walked into the room carrying a clipboard.

"There you are."

"The director is looking for you."

Celina blinked.

"For me?"

Emily nodded.

"He wants to discuss preparations for next week's children's program."

"I'll be right there."

After saying goodbye to the children...

Celina made her way toward Director James Sullivan's office.

Completely unaware...

That far across the city...

Someone had just spoken her name for the first time in twenty-five years.

A black luxury car rolled through the iron gates of an old estate on the outskirts of Rosewood.

The mansion stood surrounded by ancient oak trees.

Elegant.

Silent.

Untouched by time.

Victor stepped out of the car.

A housekeeper led him into a grand study.

Floor-to-ceiling bookshelves lined the walls.

Portraits of the Monroe family hung above the fireplace.

One portrait, however...

Had been removed.

Only an empty space remained.

Victor stopped in front of the large mahogany desk.

A woman stood with her back to him, looking out the window.

She was graceful.

Perfectly dressed.

Every movement carried quiet confidence.

Without turning around, she spoke.

"Well?"

Victor placed a brown envelope on the desk.

"I found her."

The woman's fingers froze.

For several seconds...

She didn't move.

Then she slowly turned.

Her eyes were beautiful.

But cold.

"Say it again."

Victor met her gaze.

"Celina Bakers."

"I believe..."

"She is Isabella Monroe's daughter."

Silence filled the room.

The woman stared at the envelope.

Her expression unreadable.

Then...

A slow smile appeared.

Not one of happiness.

One of disbelief.

"So..."

"She survived."

Victor nodded.

"She works as a cleaner at Steel Medical Center."

"And she's become close to Aaron Steel."

At the mention of Aaron's name...

The woman's eyes narrowed.

"Interesting."

She opened the envelope.

Inside were photographs of Celina.

One showed her laughing with children.

Another captured her standing beside Aaron.

The woman's fingers tightened around the photographs.

"She has Isabella's face..."

"And those eyes..."

For a brief moment...

Something resembling fear crossed her face.

Before it disappeared.

Victor spoke carefully.

"What are your instructions?"

The woman closed the envelope.

"Nothing."

Victor looked surprised.

"Nothing?"

"Not yet."

She walked toward the fireplace.

"For twenty-five years..."

"I believed Isabella Monroe died that night."

She looked into the flames.

"I never imagined her daughter would return."

Her voice became quieter.

"I need to know..."

"Exactly how much she knows."

Victor inclined his head.

"I understand."

As he turned to leave...

The woman called after him.

"Victor."

He stopped.

"From this moment on..."

"Every step Celina Bakers takes..."

"I want to know."

Victor nodded once.

"Yes, Miss Monroe."

The study fell silent after he left.

The woman walked slowly to a small wooden box hidden inside a cabinet.

She unlocked it.

Inside...

Lay an old silver locket.

A newspaper clipping.

And a photograph.

Two young girls.

One smiled brightly.

The other...

Was staring at the camera.

Jealousy already visible in her eyes.

She touched Isabella's face in the photograph.

Then whispered...

"You should have died with that fire."

Outside...

Dark clouds gathered over the Monroe Estate.

Far away...

Celina laughed with the children.

Completely unaware...

That the woman responsible for destroying her mother's life...

Had finally learned she was alive.
