Wednesday, 9:30 A.M.
Morning sunlight poured through the tall glass windows of Steel Medical Center, bathing the lobby in a warm golden glow.
The hospital was already alive.
Phones rang at the reception desk.
Wheelchairs rolled quietly through the corridors.
Doctors discussed patient charts as nurses hurried toward their assigned wards.
Life moved with its familiar rhythm.
Yet...
For Celina, the day began with an unexpected request.
"Miss Bakers?"
She turned as Emily approached, carrying a neatly sealed envelope.
"The director asked me to give this to you."
Celina accepted it with a puzzled smile.
"For me?"
Emily nodded.
"He said to read it in his office."
A few minutes later...
Celina knocked gently.
"Come in."
Director James Sullivan looked up from his desk.
His warm smile immediately put her at ease.
"You wanted to see me, sir?"
"I did."
He motioned toward the chair opposite him.
"Please, sit."
Once she had settled, James folded his hands.
"First of all..."
"Congratulations."
Celina blinked.
"For what?"
"The Community Hope Luncheon."
"You touched more lives than you realize."
She smiled shyly.
"I only accepted the invitation."
James chuckled.
"And somehow managed to inspire half the guests."
He slid another folder across the desk.
"The Foundation has received several requests."
Celina looked down at the documents.
"They would like you to represent the Children's Comfort Program during next month's community outreach."
Her eyes widened.
"Me?"
James nodded.
"They've specifically asked for you."
She looked overwhelmed.
"I've never spoken at an event."
"You won't be giving a speech."
James smiled reassuringly.
"They simply want people to meet the woman who reminds children how to smile."
The room fell quiet.
Celina stared at the folder.
"I don't know if I'm the right person."
James leaned forward.
"Do you know why I believe you are?"
She slowly shook her head.
"Because you've never once tried to become important."
"And somehow..."
"You became unforgettable."
His words settled deep within her heart.
Meanwhile...
At Steel Global Headquarters...
Aaron stood before a digital presentation displaying plans for the corporation's newest pediatric research center.
Around the conference table sat architects, engineers, and senior executives.
"The outreach program will strengthen our relationship with local communities."
One executive adjusted his glasses.
"If we want the public to trust our hospitals..."
"We need people they can relate to."
Another director nodded.
"Miss Bakers has become surprisingly popular."
A few people smiled.
One director, however, frowned.
"With respect..."
"She isn't a doctor."
"Nor is she a public figure."
The room became quiet.
Aaron closed the folder in front of him.
"No."
He agreed calmly.
"She isn't."
He looked around the table.
"Which is exactly why people believe her."
No one spoke.
Aaron continued.
"Titles earn authority."
"Character earns trust."
The discussion ended there.
No one challenged him again.
Later that afternoon...
Celina returned to the pediatric ward.
Daniel and Lily were waiting impatiently.
"You were gone forever!" Daniel complained dramatically.
She laughed.
"It was only twenty minutes."
"That's forever."
Lily tugged gently at her sleeve.
"Did the director scold you?"
Celina smiled.
"No."
"He gave me homework."
The children looked confused.
"What kind of homework?"
She held up a blank notebook.
"We're going to fill this with ideas."
"For what?"
"For making the hospital even happier."
Daniel's eyes lit up.
"I have one!"
"We should have Pirate Day!"
Lily raised her hand immediately.
"And Princess Day!"
Another child shouted,
"And superheroes!"
Within seconds...
The room exploded with excited suggestions.
Celina quickly began writing every single one down.
Outside the playroom...
Aaron happened to pass by.
He stopped.
Through the glass wall, he watched Celina surrounded by children, listening as though every tiny idea mattered.
He noticed something.
She never interrupted.
She never dismissed anyone.
She made every child feel heard.
A quiet voice beside him broke the silence.
"You've been smiling more often."
Aaron turned.
It was James.
Aaron glanced back toward the playroom.
"Have I?"
James smiled knowingly.
"I've known you long enough to notice."
Aaron didn't answer.
Because for the first time in many years...
He wasn't thinking about business.
Or expansion.
Or profits.
He was thinking about a woman who could turn an ordinary notebook...
Into a room full of hope.
As he walked away...
He didn't notice the figure standing at the end of the corridor.
Eveyln monreo.
She watched Aaron's retreating figure.
Then looked toward the playroom where Celina laughed with the children.
A slow smile crossed her face.
It wasn't friendly.
It was calculating.
"So..."
She whispered.
"Everyone has a weakness."
She slipped her phone back into her handbag and quietly walked away.
Far ahead...
Neither Aaron nor Celina realized...
That someone had just decided to step into their story.
