Gregory frowned immediately, a deep crease forming between his heavy brows.
He shook his head, muttering under his breath. "No. I'll just say I was asleep. I'll deal with this mess tomorrow." He ignored the call, letting it ring out into silence.
He left the main sitting area and walked toward the bedroom, the space dimly lit for ambience with soft golden wall sconces casting long shadows across silk sheets and dark wood furnishings.
As he stepped inside, his polished shoe came down on a single piece of paper lying innocuously on the floor. "What the—" he muttered, bending his considerable bulk to pick it up.
The note was simple, printed in crisp black ink.
"Trying to do business in my city without permission is a death sentence. -Predator."
Gregory wiped a meaty hand across his sweating face, heart rate spiking. "Who the hell is Predator?" he muttered to the empty room.
