Danzo picked up the document from the table and slipped it into his sleeve. Then, without looking back, he turned around, opened the door, and walked out of the Hokage's office.

His goal had been achieved.

Homura and Koharu also stood up and left shortly afterward, leaving Hiruzen alone in the office.

Hiruzen turned towards the closed door and stared at it for a moment "Sensei... You chose me to become the Hokage. But was I really the right person for this position?"

He slowly turned his head towards the picture of his former teacher, Tobirama Senju, hanging on the wall.

Hiruzen stared at the picture in silence, lost in his thoughts.

He knew that being Hokage wasn't simply about being powerful. It was about making difficult decisions, protecting the village, and carrying the burden of everyone's lives on his shoulders.

But sometimes, he wondered whether he was truly capable of doing all that.

After a few moments, he let out a sigh and returned to his desk.

As soon as Danzo stepped outside the Hokage Building, two shinobi appeared before him.

"Lord Danzo, did Hokage-sama agree to your request?" one of them asked.

The two men were Yamanaka Zen and Aburame Shibi and Both were shinobi Danzo had recruited before establishing Root in his previous life. They had eventually become two of his most trusted subordinates.

"Yes, he agreed," Danzo replied calmly. "However, there's no need to rush things today. Go home and get some rest. We'll begin tomorrow morning."

He paused before continuing.

"Meet me at the southern end of the village at eight o'clock. We'll begin selecting the members of our new organization then."

"Understood, Lord Danzo!" both shinobi replied.

They bowed and left.

Danzo watched them disappear into the distance before turning towards the village "Now then, Who should I recruit first?"

He began thinking about the people who would eventually become members of Root, along with the shinobi who could help him build a stronger Konoha as There were plenty of talented youngsters in the village. Some of them would go on to become legends in the shinobi world.

The first name that came to his mind was Sakumo Hatake, the man who would eventually become known as the White Fang of Konoha and Then there were the three shinobi who would later earn the title of the Legendary Sannin: Tsunade, Jiraiya, and Orochimaru.

However, the Second Shinobi World War had yet to begin, so none of them had earned that title.

They were still young, and their futures had not yet been decided.

"Orochimaru"

Danzo's expression became thoughtful "At this point in time, he's still a talented young shinobi who hasn't completely lost himself in his research "

In his previous life,

Danzo had worked with Orochimaru on several secret projects. Their cooperation had eventually led to the creation of some of Danzo's modifications, including the experiments involving Hashirama's cells and Scientific Sharingan.

But their relationship had also encouraged Danzo to become more comfortable with unethical experiments.

"Perhaps I should speak to Hiruzen about Orochimaru. If we guide him properly, we might prevent him from going down the same path he took in the future."

Danzo knew that Orochimaru's curiosity and desire to understand the secrets of life wouldn't simply disappear. Those qualities were part of what made him such a talented shinobi but The problem was how far he would go to satisfy that curiosity.

"If someone had guided him earlier, perhaps things could have turned out differently." as Danzo shook his head.

There was no point in worrying about everything at once. He had plenty of work to do and Then another thought entered his mind " Now, the Uchiha clan"

Danzo almost laughed at the thought as His relationship with the Uchiha had been complicated, to say the least.

In his previous life, he had treated them as a threat and eventually played a major role in the tragedy that destroyed their clan and had convinced himself that eliminating them was necessary for Konoha's survival.

But after seeing the future, he understood just how much talent and strength the village had lost because of his actions.

An Uchiha who stands beside Konoha is far more valuable than an Uchiha who is forced to stand against it as a faint smile appeared on his face.

"This time, things will be different."

The following morning,

Danzo arrived at the southern end of the village as Yamanaka Zen and Aburame Shibi were already waiting for him.

Danzo glanced at them and raised an eyebrow "You two arrived quite early."

Both shinobi straightened up.

"Lord Danzo, we—" they tried to explain

"There's no need to explain yourselves," Danzo interrupted. His voice was calm, almost gentle. "You don't need to arrive this early next time. Being on time is enough."

Zen and Shibi exchanged a confused glance and For a moment, neither of them knew what to say.

"Did Lord Danzo just tell us not to arrive too early? and why does he sound... concerned?"

They looked at each other again, surprise clearly visible in their eyes.

This was the same Danzo Shimura who had always preached self-sacrifice, discipline, and the elimination of personal attachments.

He had often reminded his subordinates that their lives belonged to the village and that they should be prepared to sacrifice themselves whenever necessary.

So why was he suddenly telling them to take care of themselves? Had something happened to him?

Danzo, however, didn't notice their reactions. Or perhaps he simply chose not to comment on them.

"Come on. We have a lot of work to do today."

With that, he began walking towards their first destination as Zen and Shibi quickly followed.

As they walked, Danzo glanced at the two men from the corner of his eye "In my previous life, both of them gave their lives while serving me."

His expression darkened slightly.

He remembered the sacrifices his subordinates had made in his name. Back then, he had accepted their deaths as the price of protecting Konoha.

But now, he understood that he had often treated their lives as nothing more than tools to achieve his goals.

"Not this time." Danzo clenched his fist inside his sleeve "I'm not going to let them throw their lives away for me again. If I'm going to build an organization to protect Konoha, then I'll make sure its members are trained to survive, not just to die for their missions."

He wasn't foolish enough to believe that no one would ever die. Shinobi lived in a dangerous world, and some missions would always carry risks but there was a difference between accepting the risks of their profession and deliberately treating their lives as expendable.

"I've already made that mistake once. I won't repeat it." thought Danzo as he continue with his Plan for Recruitment

Their first destination was the Aburame clan.

At the time, the clan was led by Akibi Aburame, the man who would later become the Grandfather of Shino Aburame.

When Danzo explained his proposal, Shibi listened quietly, his face giving little away.

"You want to recruit some of our younger clan members into this new organization?" Akibi asked.

"That's correct," Danzo replied. "Konoha needs a specialized force capable of handling dangerous missions that cannot always be entrusted to the regular ANBU. The Aburame clan's insect-based techniques would be extremely useful for reconnaissance, tracking, and gathering intelligence."

Akibi adjusted his glasses "I see. And what exactly would these young shinobi be expected to do?"

Danzo explained the organization's responsibilities, its training methods, and the types of missions its members would undertake.

He was careful with his words.

In his previous life, he would have focused on loyalty, secrecy, and obedience above everything else. This time, however, he wanted to build an organization that valued competence and discipline without turning its members into emotionless tools.

After hearing him out, Akibi considered the proposal.

The Aburame clan had always valued the village's security, and the opportunity to contribute to a specialized intelligence force was worth considering.

Eventually, he agreed to provide suitable candidates for the selection process as Danzo thanked him before moving on to the next clan.

One by one, he visited the major clans of Konoha.

He approached each of them with the same request: he wanted talented young shinobi who could be trained for specialized missions.

He explained how their abilities could contribute to the village's defence and made it clear that the selection process would focus on their skills and potential.

He didn't make any exceptions.
