Chapter 73 - Sebastian Mahalalel Zennor

"An acquaintance of mine visited me yesterday, he is very learned and has journeyed to different lands. He told me about his adventures and he mentioned he discovered some facts about the seers. He has also been curious about them." Father Roberts said and Sebastian's interest in the conversation grew because it concerned Mirabelle.

"And what did he tell you?" Sebastian asked with his eyes fixated on the bishop.

"Just a few things but he mentioned that the seers are enemies of the witches and that dark seers do not only see the future, they also have the ability to alter the present and read people's minds if they wanted to. That is all that he found out. There's still a lot of mysteries surrounding the history and the power of seers" Father Roberts explained.

Sebastian was deep in his thoughts, wondering what category Mirabelle would fall into.

"Milord, if the lady turns out to be a dark seer, what will you do?" Father Roberts asked, worried for the crown.

"Did he mention any physical sign, marks or anything to look out for if one was a dark seer?" Sebastian asked.

"No milord but he did say that dark seers usually have a thirst for the crown" Father Roberts answered and Sebastian scoffed, astonished by the new information.

"A thirst for the crown you say? I see" Sebastian said smiling.

"Thank you father Roberts for letting me know this. One of the guards would escort you home" Sebastian said as he stood up from his throne.

Father Roberts returned home and Sebastian decided to check on Mirabelle, she had been lingering on his mind for a while and it felt like a hunger that needed to be satisfied.

He couldn't place if the hunger was fueled by his vampiric nature or something greater.

All he knew was that he couldn't control it; this hunger.

In the guest room assigned for Nolan and Mirabelle, Nolan was having a conversation with Mirabelle when they both heard a gentle knock at the door.

"I'd see to it" Nolan said, standing up from the edge of the bed where he was sitting. Opening the door, Nolan's eyes fell on the king.

"Milord" he greeted and opened the door properly for the king to pass through but Sebastian didn't enter the room.

Nolan looked past the king to see that Benjamin wasn't with the king at that moment.

"How is lady Mirabelle doing?" Sebastian asked.

"She's well milord" Nolan answered and Sebastian glanced at Mirabelle who was lying on the bed with a curious expression on her pretty face.

"That is wonderful to know. The physician would be here at first light for another checkup. Have a wonderful evening Nolan" Sebastian said.

"Thank you milord" Nolan bowed as the king walked away.

The next day came quickly and just like the king had said, Marcellus arrived the palace and headed straight to see Mirabelle.

The girl was already awake because her father had informed her that the physician would arrive early.

Nolan was staring out the window when he heard a knock on the door. Opening it, it was Marcellus.

"Good morning sire" Marcellus greeted.

"Good morning doctor" Nolan quickly answered.

Hearing the physician's voice, Mirabelle greeted also.

"How are you doing today?" Marcellus asked Mirabelle as he walked closer to her.

"I feel fine actually" Mirabelle answered.

"You do not feel pain anywhere, do you?" Marcellus asked as he brought his tools out of his briefcase to check her.

Marcellus knew the girl was perfectly fine but he came mainly to check if she had any signs or attributes that were out of the ordinary and was important to relay to the king.

"No, I do not" Mirabelle answered.

Marcellus spent some minutes checking Mirabelle and when he was done, he went straight to Sebastian who was waiting at the throne room.

"Milord" Marcellus bowed.

"The lady seems fine now so you can rest assured" Marcellus said but Sebastian already knew Mirabelle was completely fine because God had sent Raphael to heal her. What he wanted to hear was if there was anything out of the ordinary.

"Did you notice anything amiss?" Sebastian asked.

"No milord but she did seem uncomfortable. I think she misses her home" Marcellus explained.

"She can miss her home in Cornswell all she wants now because soon, this castle would be her home" Sebastian said and Marcellus' eyes lit up with curiosity.

"Milord, my dearest apologizes for prying but if I may ask, is the crown interested in the human girl?" Marcellus already knew the answer deep in his heart because the king had never paid attention to any other human the way he pays attention to Mirabelle.

Marcellus was only asking because he wanted to affirm what he already knew.

Sebastian had a wide and slightly scary smile on his face that made Marcellus gulp, regretting asking the question in the first place.

"I would ease your curiosity because you're important to the crown and yes, I am interested in the lady so treat her with the same respect you'd give to me" Sebastian answered and Marcellus' mouth hung open, surprised that out of all the creatures in Denver, the king fell for a human.

The specie he hated.

"I believe you'd keep it to yourself until I've made it official" Sebastian added.

"Congratulations milord. May God bless your union. I'd be taking my leave now, long live the king of Denver" Marcellus bowed and Sebastian gestured he was allowed to take his leave.

Hearing Marcellus mention God, Sebastian remembered Hades' words.

He began to wonder if truly God would let him love a human even after all he had done to humans for years, before he became king and even after.

Sebastian didn't regret what he did to humans, he believed his actions and hate was justified.

As he sat on his throne with his spiralling thoughts, a traumatic event from his childhood surfaced in his mind.

The same event; all the time.

"Mama and Papa are yet to return. We should go back home and check on them" Little Sebastian said as uncontrollable tears fell from his eyes.

"Mahalalel, it is wise to remain here. Mama and Papa ordered that we hide. The humans would see us if we leave here" his older brother Ezekiel said.

"But they haven't communicated with us. We have been hiding for a while now" Mahalalel who was also called Sebastian said.

Both boys turned to their little sister who was holding both their hands with puffed cheeks and teary eyes.

"Papa and Mama... I want papa and mama" she said to her brothers.

"Ezekiel, I would go" little Sebastian said and Ezekiel pulled him back.

"Fine I would" Ezekiel said letting go of his sister's hand and headed back for their home.
